What does a GPR survey in Makarpura GIDC, Vadodara cover?
Makarpura GIDC is an engineering and manufacturing estate on the southern side of Vadodara city. Its plots hold fabrication shops, machine shops and assembly sheds, and many of them have been extended, subdivided or taken over by a new occupier over the years. Each of those changes left something in the ground. A GPR survey in Makarpura GIDC, Vadodara finds those services before a breaker, auger or excavator does.
On this estate we are usually asked to scan three kinds of place:
- Inside plots – ahead of machine foundations, crane gantry footings, new sheds, transformer plinths or storage tanks.
- Estate road shoulders – where a new feeder, water line or fibre duct is planned along the plot frontage.
- Plot entries and road crossings – where a service has to pass under the estate road to reach a unit.
Typical finds are LT and HT power cables, earthing strips, water and fire-hydrant lines, drainage and effluent pipes, compressed-air lines, telecom ducts and old footings left from demolished structures. For the citywide picture, including approvals and ground conditions, see our Vadodara GPR survey page.
Why do older engineering plots need a scan before foundation work?
Records rarely survive a change of occupier. A unit that took over a plot ten years ago may hold no drawing of the cable that fed the previous owner's compressor house, or of the drain that was diverted when a shed was lengthened. Some of these lines are dead; others are still live and feed a neighbour. Radar alone cannot tell the two apart, so we use EM locating on conductive lines and report each one as confirmed, probable or unknown.
Foundation pits for presses, machine tools and crane columns often go deeper than a cable trench. In open ground around Vadodara, the alluvium with moderate clay typically lets radar reach 2.5 to 3.5 metres. Inside older plots the top layers are often fill, broken masonry or slag, and reach can be lower there; our report gives the depth actually achieved, area by area. Where a pit goes below what the radar could see, we say so plainly, and trial pits or boreholes can be arranged on request.
How is underground utility mapping in Makarpura GIDC carried out?
- Plot walk and records. We walk the plot with your maintenance or projects engineer, collect whatever layouts exist and agree the scan area and the excavation plan.
- Radar grid. Lines are run in two directions across the work area, so a pipe heading in any direction shows up as a clear target.
- EM sweep. Passive and active EM locating picks up live cables and metallic pipes; where a cable end is accessible, a transmitter is connected to trace it.
- Ground marking. Paint in the relevant utility colour shows each line, and the measured depth is written beside it.
- Record. You receive a marked-up plan and a survey report; CAD or GIS drawings are prepared on order and priced separately.
Running units need induction, a work permit and agreed hours. We plan the scan around shift changes and material movement so production is not held up. More on area mapping is on our Vadodara utility mapping page.
Cable detection in Makarpura GIDC – what can be confirmed?
For cable detection in Makarpura GIDC, EM locating is the main tool, because most power and earthing conductors either carry a signal or can be given one. Radar adds what EM misses: PVC and HDPE ducts, empty sleeves, brick or precast cable trenches and non-metallic pipes.
- Several cables laid in one trench can read as a single wide target; we report that as a cable group, not as one cable.
- Depth is given at measured points along each line, not as one figure for the whole run.
- Locating a fault on an existing cable is a separate task from route survey and is quoted on its own.
If a new HT or LT cable is being laid through the estate, the HT/LT cable route survey covers the full route, and our underground cable detection page explains the method in more depth.
What does a GPR survey cost on a Makarpura GIDC plot?
Our standard rate is ₹24 per metre of survey, and ₹32 per metre when a depth profile (L-section) is needed along a route. Two minimums apply here: an order is billed for at least 4 km, and because Vadodara lies outside Delhi NCR, the project is billed at not less than ₹1,00,000. A single plot needing a few hundred metres of scanning therefore costs the project minimum. GST is added on top.
The way to get value from that minimum is to group work: several plots belonging to one group, your plot plus the estate road frontage, or two neighbouring units under one order. Mobilisation from Faridabad, any night-shift working, traffic arrangements or permissions, and CAD/GIS drawing sets are charged separately from the per-metre rate. Long route orders earn a whole-order discount once they cross 100 km. The full rate card sits on the GPR survey price list.

Fact table
| Fact | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Standard GPR survey rate | ₹24 per metre | Mezux rate card |
| L-section GPR survey rate | ₹32 per metre | Mezux rate card |
| Minimum billed per project outside Delhi NCR | ₹1,00,000 (GST extra) | Mezux rate card |
| Typical radar reach in Vadodara open ground | 2.5–3.5 m | Mezux records |
| Company-owned GPR systems | 58 | Mezux records |
Depth figures are for open alluvial ground; made ground inside older plots can reduce radar reach, and the report states what was achieved.

Group neighbouring plots in one order
Two or three units sharing one visit spread the ₹1,00,000 project minimum and the travel from Faridabad across more metres of useful survey.
Add the estate road frontage
If a feeder or water line will also run along the road, include that stretch now rather than paying for a second visit later.
Choose L-section only where needed
The depth profile at ₹32 per metre suits cable and pipe routes; a plain plot clearance usually needs only the ₹24 standard survey.
Send layouts before we quote
Even rough plot sketches let us size the job accurately, so the quote reflects the real quantity instead of a cautious guess.
Avoid night working where possible
Night shifts are charged separately; scanning during day breaks or the unit's weekly off keeps that cost off your bill.
Order drawings with the survey
If you need CAD or GIS output, say so at the start so the field data is collected for it; drawing sets are quoted separately.

Charged per running metre, before GST; the discount slab is decided by the total order and applies to all of it. Outside the Delhi NCR region the project minimum is ₹1,00,000. Mobilisation, night-shift working, traffic and permission arrangements and CAD/GIS drawing sets are quoted separately. Updated 23 October 2026.

Questions about GPR survey in Makarpura GIDC
Can you scan inside a running fabrication shed?
Yes, wherever the floor is reachable and your work permit allows it. Scan lines are fitted around machines, racks and material stacks, and busy bays are covered during breaks or shift changes. Any area we cannot reach is shown as no-access in the report, so nobody treats it as clear.
Who arranges permission for work on the estate road?
Inside your own plot, your permit-to-work system governs our crew. Scanning on an estate road shoulder may need consent from the road owner, which you or your contractor normally obtain while we supply the scope and method. Traffic arrangements and permission costs are charged separately from the survey rate.
Will the survey tell us if an old cable is dead?
Not with certainty. EM locating can show whether a cable carries a signal, which suggests it is live, but a quiet cable may still be connected somewhere. We report each conductor as confirmed, probable or unknown and recommend an isolation check by your electrical team before anything is cut.
How deep can the radar see on our plot?
In open alluvial ground around Vadodara, radar typically reaches 2.5 to 3.5 metres. Made ground, wet clay and slag-filled areas, which are common on older plots, reduce that. The report states the depth reached in each area, so your engineer knows where the result holds for the pit depth planned.
Can you also give CAD drawings of the plot services?
Yes. We can prepare CAD or GIS drawings of the detected services for your plant records. They are a separate item from the per-metre survey rate and are quoted once we know the area to be covered and the layer format your team wants.
How quickly can a crew reach Makarpura?
Crews and radar systems travel from our Faridabad base, so the start date is fixed when the order is confirmed and depends on work already in hand. Because all 58 systems are company-owned, we never wait for hired equipment. Mobilisation is billed as a separate item.
