What does a GPR survey in Dabhoi, Vadodara deal with?
Dabhoi is a historic fortified town south-east of Vadodara, and its centre still sits inside the line of the old walls and gates, Hira Bhagol among them. The streets inside were laid out long before piped water, sewers or electric cables existed. Every service added since has had to fit into the same narrow width, usually by a different agency each time.
A GPR survey in Dabhoi, Vadodara is a way of finding out what that history has left underground before anyone digs again. Radar records the reflections from pipes, cables, ducts, old masonry drains and filled-in trenches. An electromagnetic locator traces the conductive lines among them. Together they produce marks on the ground and a written record of what was found, at roughly what depth, and where the survey could not see clearly.
Why are the lanes inside the walls slow to survey?
- Little room to move. Lanes are often too narrow for a standard cart pattern, so the crew uses shorter, closer runs.
- Layered services. House connections, older water lines, newer replacements and cables cross each other at short intervals, and their reflections overlap.
- Old construction underground. Masonry drains, wells that were filled in and footings of earlier buildings give strong echoes that can look like services until they are checked.
- Daily life. Shops, parked two-wheelers and morning water supply times mean we often work in early hours or in short windows agreed with residents and the local body.
Coverage per day inside the walls is therefore much lower than on an open road, and the programme says so. Where a high-resolution 3D grid would sort out a cluttered junction, we propose it for that spot only, because it is slow and adds little on a simple stretch. Metallic water mains and other pipes are traced the way our underground pipeline detection service describes.
How is underground utility mapping in Dabhoi kept reliable?
Underground utility mapping in Dabhoi only helps if the people who dig later can trust it. We build that trust in three ways. First, each line on the record carries the method that found it, radar, EM or both, so a reader knows how firm the finding is. Second, the report separates confirmed services from possible ones, such as a reflection that may be a pipe or may be old brickwork. Third, every area we could not scan, whether a locked courtyard, a vehicle that would not move or a flooded drain, is shown as unscanned rather than left blank.
Where a design will be based on the record, for example a new drainage or water scheme for the town, we suggest trial pits at a few key points to confirm the radar reading; these are dug on request. For the district picture, see our Vadodara underground utility mapping service.
Can cable detection in Dabhoi work near heritage structures?
Yes, and it is one of the better uses of the method. Scanning is non-destructive: nothing is drilled, cut or hammered, and the equipment simply moves over the surface. Cable detection in Dabhoi near the fort walls and gates tells the contractor where cables and pipes lie, so excavation can be kept small and placed away from old foundations.
Whether digging close to a historic structure is allowed at all is a matter for the authorities that look after it, and obtaining that permission is the client's responsibility. Our role is to give an accurate picture of the ground so the work method can be chosen with care. For pre-dig marking of a short stretch, see pre-excavation scanning in Vadodara.
What about the roads and railway outside the old town?
Beyond the walls, Dabhoi looks like any growing taluka town: wider roads, new housing, the main road to Vadodara and a railway station on the broad-gauge line that runs on towards Kevadia. Work here moves faster and is often linked to new cable or pipe schemes reaching the outskirts. Road crossings and the railway corridor are scanned as separate items, because any bore under them needs depth information and the owner's consent; our HDD route survey page covers that work.
Mezux notes put typical radar reach in Vadodara's open alluvial ground at 2.5 to 3.5 metres where the clay content is moderate. Inside the walls, made ground and old rubble usually reduce that, and the report records the depth reached lane by lane.
How is a Dabhoi survey priced?
Rates are the same as anywhere else we work. Standard GPR survey: ₹24 a metre. Survey with an L-section depth profile of detected services: ₹32 a metre. Each order is billed for no less than 4 km, and as Dabhoi is outside Delhi NCR, the project total never falls below ₹1,00,000. A 6 km mixed job with an L-section, for instance, comes to ₹1,92,000 before GST and extras.
Old-town work may call for night working and some traffic management in the bazaar lanes. Those, along with mobilisation and any CAD or GIS drawing set, are charged separately and itemised in the quote. Volume discounts of 25%, 40% and 50% apply above 100, 500 and 1,000 km respectively, across the full order. The GPR survey price list shows worked examples.
Who will do the work?
Our own crews travel to Dabhoi from Faridabad with company-owned radar systems; we do not hire machines or pass work to sub-contractors. Mezux Touch has worked underground for 23 years and holds ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. Power supply in the area is under MGVCL, and Mezux Touch is not affiliated with MGVCL or any DISCOM. Our Vadodara page covers other parts of the district.

Scan old town and outskirts together
One order covering the walled lanes and the new roads outside spreads mobilisation cost and meets the minimum more easily.
Share house-connection records
Even rough municipal or household records shorten the time spent sorting overlapping echoes in crowded lanes.
Use 3D grids only where needed
High-resolution grids are slow; we limit them to cluttered junctions where plain 2D lines cannot separate services.
Book early-morning windows
Arranging early access with residents and the local body can avoid paying for night shifts inside the walls.
Decide on drawings upfront
Paint marks may be enough for a small repair; a CAD or GIS record, quoted separately, suits a town-wide scheme.
Group crossings with the route
Road and railway crossings added to the main order share one visit instead of needing their own mobilisation later.

Questions about GPR survey in Dabhoi
Is there a GPR survey company near me in Dabhoi?
We do not have a crew based in Dabhoi; Mezux Touch teams travel from Faridabad with their own equipment. Send your route or site sketch to kumar@mezux.in or call +91 99100 10209. We reply with a quote that lists the survey, mobilisation and any extras, and agree a start date.
Can radar tell an old masonry drain from a pipe?
Not always on its own. A round pipe gives a typical arch-shaped reflection, while masonry gives a flatter or broken one, but old brickwork can mimic a pipe. Where the difference matters, we mark the feature as a possible line and suggest a trial pit to confirm it.
Will scanning disturb shops or residents?
Very little. The radar cart is pushed by hand and makes no noise or vibration. We need a clear path for a few minutes at each spot, so vehicles and stalls may have to move briefly. Timings are planned with you to keep disruption low.
Can you find a leaking water line in the old town?
A route survey shows where water lines run, which narrows the search. Pinpointing a leak is a different task, offered as a separate leak detection service. Tell us if your Dabhoi job is about a leak rather than a new route, and we will plan accordingly.
Is radar depth inside the walls the same as outside?
Usually not. Inside the walls the ground often contains rubble, old footings and made-up fill, which scatter radar energy. Reach is generally lower than the 2.5–3.5 m seen in open Vadodara alluvium. We record the depth reached for each lane so you know how far the result can be trusted.
Do you arrange heritage permissions?
No; obtaining heritage permission is for the project owner or contractor. Once you have it, we plan the survey to fit its conditions, such as keeping equipment off walls, limiting hours or holding a set distance from a structure.
