What does an electric cable route GPR survey in Vadodara involve?
The survey follows the exact path your new HT or LT cable will take and records what is already buried along it and across it. On a Vadodara city road that usually means corporation water mains and drainage, gas distribution pipes, telecom ducts, street-light feeds and older distribution cables. On GIDC estate roads you can add a plant's process, fire-water and earthing lines.
The record gives your trenching or drilling crew three things:
- where each existing service lies in plan, measured against your route;
- how deep it sits at the points scanned, with the detection method and a confidence note;
- where it crosses or runs alongside your alignment, so the designer can shift the cable before digging starts.
Ground penetrating radar gives depth and responds to plastic, concrete and metal lines alike. Electromagnetic locators trace conductive cables and metal pipes by their signal. Both are used on every route because each covers gaps the other leaves. Any stretch we could not scan – a parked truck, a locked gate, standing water – is written into the report as unscanned so that nobody treats it as clear. The general method is set out on our HT/LT cable route survey service page.
Which stretches of a Vadodara cable route need the closest look?
Vadodara houses MGVCL's head office, so a good share of central Gujarat's cabling work is planned from the city, and its own routes have recurring problem spots. Knowing them early helps you size both the survey and the programme. To be clear, Mezux Touch has no affiliation with MGVCL or any other distribution company.
- The old city. Inside the historic gates around Mandvi, services from several generations share very little width and records are patchy. The scan grid is tighter and progress per shift is slower.
- Vishwamitri crossings. The river and its nalas cut across many routes. Banks are often soft and damp, which shortens radar reach, so both approaches are scanned.
- NH-48 and the Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway. Cables crossing these corridors normally go by HDD, and bore depth matters more here than anywhere else on the route.
- Western Railway lines. The main line through Vadodara Junction needs a crossing record before any bore goes under the tracks.
- GIDC estates. At Makarpura, Nandesari, Waghodia, Savli and Por, process and effluent lines sit close to cable trenches, and scanning follows each unit's permit system. Estate conditions are described on the Makarpura GIDC page.
The wider city picture, including pipeline corridors, is on our main Vadodara GPR survey page.
How does HT cable route mapping in Vadodara feed a trench or an HDD bore?
On an open-trench job, the survey tells the excavator operator where to slow down and switch to hand digging, and it shows the designer which crowded stretches to route around. Typical use is a marked-up route where every crossing service has its depth written beside it.
On an HDD crossing, the scan covers the bore path, both pits and each service the bore must pass over or under. In Vadodara's alluvium with moderate clay, radar typically reaches 2.5 to 3.5 metres in open ground. When a bore is planned deeper than the radar cleared, the report says so in plain words and recommends a trial pit or borehole at that point – both can be arranged on request. Drilling surveys are covered on the Vadodara HDD route survey page.
Standard route survey or L-section – which does your work order need?
The standard survey at ₹24 per metre locates and marks existing services and gives their depth at the points scanned. The L-section survey at ₹32 per metre adds a depth profile of the detected services along the cable route, which many cabling scopes ask the contractor to submit. If your order mentions a profile or L-section, include it from the start so the field visit is planned for it once. The Vadodara L-section page explains it in simple terms.
What does an electric grid underground survey in Vadodara cost?
Survey rates are ₹24 per metre for a standard route and ₹32 per metre with an L-section. Once the whole order passes 100 km, every metre is charged 25% less; past 500 km the cut is 40%, and past 1,000 km it is 50%. GST is added on the invoice. A 150 km L-section order, for example, falls in the 25% slab at ₹24 per metre and comes to ₹36 lakh before GST; the same length as a standard survey is ₹27 lakh.
Vadodara is outside Delhi NCR, so a ₹1,00,000 minimum per project applies alongside the 4 km minimum length. The per-metre rate is for the survey itself. These items are quoted on separate lines:
- mobilisation of crew and systems from Faridabad;
- night-shift working on busy roads;
- traffic arrangements and road permissions;
- CAD/GIS drawing sets.
With 58 company-owned GPR systems, a start date never waits on a hired machine, and on long open corridors with day and night shifts our peak output has been 100 km a day. City roads, estates and night-only windows run slower, and the quote carries a programme that reflects your actual route.
Can you trace underground electrical lines that are already live?
Yes. Underground electrical line tracing in Vadodara is non-contact: nothing is cut, clamped or switched off for the survey. A cable carrying load gives off a field that an electromagnetic locator can follow, and radar confirms position and depth. What neither method can prove is whether a line is energised, dead or abandoned, so any cable whose state is unclear goes into the report flagged as status unknown, for the owner to confirm. If an existing cable has a fault, locating it is a separate task from route survey; mention it on the quote form and it is priced on its own. Detection of existing cables in general is covered on our underground cable detection page, and site engineers preparing for a survey can use the Vadodara cable route checklist.

Merge feeders into one order
When several feeders are ordered together the slab follows their combined length, so a 101 km package already earns 25% off every metre.
Survey priority stretches first
Tell us where trenching begins; those lengths are scanned and marked first so your excavation crew is not left standing idle.
Bundle HDD crossings into the order
Mobilisation is a separate charge, so scanning bore paths during the same visit as the cable route saves paying for a repeat trip.
Keep night work to essentials
Night shifts carry their own charge; we limit them to stretches where daytime traffic makes scanning unsafe or simply impossible.
Know the Vadodara floors
Outside Delhi NCR the project minimum is ₹1,00,000 alongside the 4 km length minimum, so very short routes are better clubbed with other work.
Name one drawing format
CAD and GIS sets are priced outside the survey rate; tell us the single format your client accepts instead of ordering every option.

Questions about cable route surveys in Vadodara
Do you need the HT cable switched off for the survey?
No. Both radar and electromagnetic locating work from the surface without touching the cable, so a live feeder can stay in service throughout. The site's own safety rules still apply around substations and open pits, and we follow any permit system the owner runs.
Can scanning start on the stretches my crew will dig first?
Yes. Mark the priority lengths on the route you send. We scan and paint-mark those first, so trenching can begin there while the rest of the alignment is still being surveyed, and the programme in the quote shows that order.
What happens if the cable alignment changes after the survey?
Send the revised alignment as soon as it is fixed. Lengths already scanned remain valid, and only the new length is surveyed, charged at the same per-metre rate as the original order. If a fresh visit is needed, mobilisation for it is quoted separately.
Will the survey clear the full depth of an HDD crossing?
It clears what radar can reach on that ground, which in Vadodara is typically 2.5 to 3.5 metres in open ground. Where the bore runs deeper, the report says so clearly and recommends a trial pit or borehole, which we can arrange on request at extra cost.
Do you work inside GIDC estates around Vadodara?
Yes – at Makarpura, Nandesari, Waghodia, Savli and Por, under each plant's permit and induction system. Lines inside estates run close together, so the scan grid is tighter, and we work around the unit's shutdown days or shift timings where it asks us to.
Can one visit cover an OFC duct running beside the power cable?
Yes. Where a fibre duct and a power cable share a corridor, both routes can be scanned in the same visit and ordered as one quantity, which helps reach a discount slab sooner. Rates, minimums and separately quoted items are identical for both kinds of route.
