Quick answer

A GPR survey in Karjan, Vadodara finds buried cables, pipes and telecom ducts along NH-48, beside the railway and under town roads before trenching or HDD. Mezux Touch combines radar with EM locating, marks every line on site and reports approximate depth. Rates start at ₹24 a metre, minimum 4 km; a ₹1,00,000 project minimum applies outside Delhi NCR.

Why order a GPR survey in Karjan, Vadodara?

Karjan is a taluka town south of Vadodara, set on NH-48 and on the Western Railway line that continues to Bharuch. Corridors like these attract services. Telecom operators lay optical fibre along the highway, power cables cross it to reach villages and industrial users, and water and drainage lines serve the town on both sides of the road and the track. A GPR survey in Karjan, Vadodara shows where those services sit before a new trench or bore runs into them.

The survey pairs ground penetrating radar, which sees metallic and non-metallic objects, with an electromagnetic locator that traces conductive cables and pipes. Findings are painted on the ground and written into a report with approximate depths, the method behind each finding and the stretches we could not access.

What makes NH-48 work at Karjan different?

A national highway is not one strip of ground. It is a set of parallel corridors, each with its own services:

  • Service roads and shoulders, where telecom ducts, OFC chambers and highway lighting cables usually run.
  • The median, which may carry lighting feeds and, on some stretches, ducts laid during earlier widening.
  • Culverts and cross drains under the carriageway, which block and confuse a radar signal if they are not noted beforehand.
  • Fuel stations, dhabas and roadside businesses, each with its own tanks, water lines and power connection close to the road edge.

Scanning beside live traffic needs cones, a lookout and sometimes a permission from the road owner. Traffic arrangements and permissions sit outside the per-metre rate, so the quote lists them separately. Our highways and expressways page explains how we handle highway corridors in general.

How do you survey a crossing under the railway or the highway?

Most cables and pipes cross NH-48 or the railway at Karjan by horizontal directional drilling, because open-cutting a highway or a track is rarely allowed. The survey for a crossing is therefore planned around the bore, not just the surface:

  1. We fix the entry and exit pit positions with you and scan both pit areas closely.
  2. Radar lines are run across the bore corridor at short spacing, along both sides and over the crossing where access permits.
  3. Every detected service is logged with its approximate depth, so the driller knows what the bore must pass above or below.
  4. The report states how deep the radar reached at the crossing, so any deeper bore can be planned with other checks.

Work inside railway limits needs the railway's own permission, which is separate from the highway authority's. More detail on drilling surveys is on the Vadodara HDD route survey page and in our article on HDD crossing surveys on Gujarat roads and canals.

What can cable detection in Karjan find?

Cable detection in Karjan usually turns up three families of lines. Power cables, from low-tension service cables to 11 kV feeders, are traced by EM where a signal can be applied or picked up, and then confirmed by radar. Telecom cables and HDPE ducts along the highway show on radar even though EM cannot follow plastic. Earthing strips and old armoured cables near substations and industrial plots show up on both.

Where several operators have laid fibre in the same shoulder, their ducts can sit side by side within a short width. We separate them where radar resolution allows and say plainly where it does not. For a dedicated fibre alignment, see our OFC route survey for Vadodara.

What depth can be expected around Karjan?

Karjan's soil belongs to the central Gujarat alluvium. Our notes on Vadodara's ground record radar reaching roughly 2.5 to 3.5 metres in open ground where the alluvium carries moderate clay. That range covers ordinary cable and pipe depths and the shallower part of most HDD crossings.

Highway embankments are a special case. Built-up fill, compacted layers and drainage structures under the road can scatter the signal, and a wet monsoon lowers reach on low ground beside the embankment. Our report gives the reach achieved section by section, so the designer is not left assuming one number holds for the whole route.

How is Karjan work priced?

A standard route survey costs ₹24 for every metre scanned. Adding a depth profile of all detected services along the line, the L-section survey, raises that to ₹32 a metre. Orders shorter than 4 km are billed as 4 km, and since Karjan lies outside Delhi NCR, no project is billed below ₹1,00,000.

For long corridor jobs the discount covers the whole order: 25% off above 100 km, 40% above 500 km, 50% above 1,000 km. A 120 km highway-side fibre route, for example, comes to ₹21,60,000 at the discounted standard rate, before GST and extras. Mobilisation, night shifts, traffic and permission arrangements, and CAD or GIS drawings are separate items. The price list has the full table.

Who carries out the survey?

Karjan jobs are handled by Mezux Touch crews who travel from Faridabad with company-owned equipment. We have 58 GPR systems of our own, and our teams have surveyed more than 1.5 lakh km across 28+ States and UTs. Power distribution in this part of Gujarat is run by MGVCL; Mezux Touch has no affiliation with MGVCL or any other DISCOM and works directly for contractors and asset owners. Wider district coverage is described on our Vadodara page.

Where a client wants more than paint marks, underground utility mapping in Karjan turns the findings into a lasting record of the corridor, useful when the highway or the railway side is dug again for the next project.

TIP 1

Fix pits first

Agree HDD entry and exit points before the survey, so the crew can scan the pit areas closely rather than guess.

TIP 2

Start railway consent early

Railway permission takes its own time and is separate from highway approval, so begin that paperwork before booking a survey date.

TIP 3

Pick quiet hours

Busy highway stretches scan more safely at low-traffic hours; night working is possible but quoted separately from the rate.

TIP 4

List known owners

Tell us which telecom, power and water owners have lines in the corridor, because their records help us read the radar.

TIP 5

Pass on the depth note

Give the section-wise depth reach from our report to your driller, so any bore below it gets extra checks.

Bundle all crossings in one order

Several highway, rail and canal crossings in a single order share one mobilisation and count together towards the minimums.

Give exact bore lengths

Pricing is per metre, so accurate pit-to-pit lengths and corridor widths keep the quote tight and free of guesswork.

Choose day work where allowed

Night shifts cost extra; where the road owner permits daytime working with cones, the job stays within the plain rate.

Share permissions you already hold

If your firm already has highway or railway permission for the job, send it to us; arranging one on your behalf is charged separately.

Order profiles when scope needs them

If your contract asks for a depth profile along the route, order the ₹32 L-section from the start instead of revisiting.

Plan long corridors as one job

A fibre or cable route over 100 km earns 25% off on all metres, more than a string of small separate orders.

FAQ

Questions about GPR survey in Karjan

Is there a GPR survey company near me in Karjan?

Mezux Touch does not keep a crew in Karjan. Teams and radar units travel from Faridabad once a job is confirmed. Call +91 99100 10209 or email kumar@mezux.in with your route; we quote the survey, list mobilisation and any extras, and fix a start date with you.

Can you survey both sides of NH-48 in one visit?

Yes. We usually scan each side as its own stretch, because services and depths differ between the two shoulders. Crossing the carriageway itself needs traffic control and, in many cases, the road owner's consent, so it is planned as a separate step within the same visit.

Do you scan inside railway land at Karjan?

Only with written permission from the railway, and with their rules followed on site. Many clients obtain that permission themselves as part of their crossing approval; we then plan the scan around the block or access time the railway allows.

Can GPR find a fibre duct that was laid by HDD?

Often, if the duct is within radar reach and not too small for the soil conditions. Deep HDD ducts beneath a highway may lie below that reach, so we state the depth checked at each crossing and suggest further verification where a deeper duct is likely.

How quickly can a Karjan survey start?

Start dates depend on crew availability, the journey from Faridabad and any permits you need. Once route, scope and access are settled, we confirm a date in the quote. Long corridor jobs can run more than one crew to keep pace with your programme.

Will you give drawings for the highway authority?

We can prepare CAD or GIS drawings and reports in the format your submission needs, quoted separately from the per-metre survey rate. Tell us the format the authority expects at the start, so the field work collects everything the drawings will need.
