Quick answer

A GPR survey company in Vapi should find every cable and pipe before your trench opens. Mezux Touch does this with its own crews and radar, mobilised from Faridabad to GIDC Vapi, NH-48 and town roads. Rates: ₹24/m standard, ₹32/m L-section, minimum 4 km and ₹1,00,000 for each project, with GST on top.

Rates and page checked:

Ground penetrating radar cart being pushed along a paved road edge
One cart pass along a Vapi estate road shows cables and pipes before trenching.
Technician holding an electromagnetic locator over a buried cable line
EM locating confirms metallic lines that radar has already picked up.
Diagram of a cable route crossing beneath a river or canal bed
Water crossings such as the Damanganga need their own planned scan near each bank.
Coloured paint marks on a road surface showing buried utility positions
Colour-coded marks tell the excavation crew which buried line belongs to which utility.

Why hire a GPR survey company in Vapi before digging?

Vapi grew around one of Gujarat's large chemical estates, and the ground under its roads reflects that history: power feeders laid for factories, water and effluent pipes, telecom cables and newer fibre ducts, many added at different times by different owners. Records rarely keep pace. A GPR survey company in Vapi earns its fee by showing what is actually buried along your line before a backhoe or drill finds it the hard way.

We combine two methods:

  • Ground penetrating radar picks up metal and non-metal objects alike – plastic water pipes, asbestos cement lines, ducts and voids included.
  • Electromagnetic (EM) locating follows conductive cables and metal pipes that carry or can be given a signal.

Used together, they cover far more of what lies under a Vapi street than either one alone. The underground cable detection page sets out how power and telecom lines are traced.

Where do buried services crowd together in Vapi?

Vapi lies in Valsad district in south Gujarat, close to the Daman border. A few well-known features shape where survey work is concentrated:

  • GIDC Vapi. This large chemical industrial estate has internal roads lined with factory feeders, process and effluent pipelines, water mains and communication cables, often running side by side in the same verge.
  • NH-48. The national highway links Vapi with Surat to the north and Mumbai to the south, and any utility that crosses or follows it has to deal with service roads, drains and junction congestion.
  • The Damanganga river. Pipelines and cables that cross the river, or follow its banks, need a survey plan for both approaches and the crossing method chosen.
  • Routes towards Daman. Roads heading to the border carry cables and pipes that serve both sides, so expect services from more than one owner.

Electricity distribution across this part of the state falls to DGVCL – Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd., headquartered in Surat – so many cables you will meet belong to it. We are an independent survey firm with no link to DGVCL or any DISCOM.

Which method finds which service on a Vapi route?

Buried serviceRadarEM locating
HT/LT power cableYesYes, when a signal is present or applied
Steel or ductile iron pipeYesYes
PVC, HDPE or MDPE pipeYes, depending on size and groundNo, unless a tracer wire survives
Effluent or drain lineYesOnly if metallic
OFC ductYesOnly with a metallic element or tracer
Void or buried chamberYesNo

No method sees everything. Radar can miss a small line lying deep in wet clay, and EM says nothing about a plastic pipe. Where either limit matters, our report flags it and recommends physical proof by pit or borehole, available on request.

What happens during a survey inside GIDC Vapi?

  1. Desk check. We study your route file, any existing service drawings, and the factory frontages the line passes.
  2. Access confirmation. Estate roads and factory frontages may need consent from the estate authority or the unit owner; the client arranges these, and we fit the crew's schedule to them.
  3. Scanning. The radar cart runs along the planned line, with cross-lines at factory gates, culverts and junctions where services meet.
  4. Tracing. EM locating runs over the same strip to confirm metallic lines and pick up any the radar picture leaves uncertain.
  5. Marking. Every find gets paint or a peg in the colour of its utility, and an approximate depth.
  6. Report. A signed document lists services, depth reached by section and any stretch the crew could not scan.

Industrial estates bring their own survey issues; our guide to GPR survey in Gujarat's GIDC estates covers them in more detail.

How deep will radar see in Vapi's ground?

That depends on the soil and how wet it is. Moist clay and ground carrying salts absorb radar energy quickly, while dry, sandy soil lets it travel deeper. South Gujarat's monsoon soaks the ground for months, so the same Vapi road can give a shallower reading in August than in March. We therefore state the achieved depth section by section in the report rather than promising a single figure. Our article on south Gujarat soils and GPR explains the effect of clay, river silt and groundwater in more depth.

What does a Vapi GPR survey cost?

On our published card, plain route survey is ₹24 a metre, rising to ₹32 a metre when you also want an L-section (a depth profile of what was detected). A shorter scope is still charged as 4 km. Vapi is outside Delhi NCR, so the ₹1,00,000 per-project minimum also applies there. GST is extra on every line.

ScopeRateAmount before GST
3.5 km factory frontage₹24/m₹1,00,000 – minimum project value (4 km billing is ₹96,000)
5 km effluent line route₹32/m L-section₹1,60,000
10 km estate cable network₹24/m₹2,40,000
120 km south Gujarat fibre programme₹24/m less 25%₹21,60,000

Once an order exceeds 100 km, all of it is billed 25% lower; beyond 500 km the cut deepens to 40%, and beyond 1,000 km to half. As the cut covers the full length, an order just over a slab can work out cheaper than one just under it. Expect mobilisation, night work, traffic control or permits, and CAD/GIS drawing sets to appear as their own priced items. Read every slab on our GPR survey price list.

How are crews sent to Vapi?

All equipment and staff travel from Faridabad. Mezux holds 58 radar units and 18 HDD rigs on its own books and puts its own people on every job – nothing hired, nothing sub-let. That is the same set-up behind the 1.5 lakh+ km of GPR survey our crews have finished in 28+ States and UTs.

Since Vapi sits on NH-48 between Mumbai and Surat, work here can be joined with routes in Valsad or Surat under one order, so one journey serves several sites and the larger total brings the next slab within reach. Our Gujarat survey hub lists other towns we cover across the state.

TIP 1

Collect old drawings

Even incomplete factory or estate service drawings help us decide where congestion is likely and where to tighten line spacing.

TIP 2

Arrange estate access

Seek consent from the estate authority or unit owners early, since factory frontage work cannot start without their agreement.

TIP 3

Mind the monsoon

Wet ground cuts radar reach, so plan deep river or highway crossings for drier months whenever the programme allows it.

TIP 4

Bundle nearby routes

Add Valsad or Surat stretches to your Vapi enquiry so one mobilisation serves the whole length and slabs come sooner.

TIP 5

Scan bore paths first

If a crossing will be drilled, get its bore line and pit areas scanned before the drilling contractor finalises the profile.

FAQ

Questions about GPR survey in Vapi

Can GPR find a plastic effluent pipe in GIDC Vapi?

Often, yes. A plastic pipe still differs electrically from the soil packed around it, and radar picks up that difference even though an EM locator stays silent. Narrow pipes buried in saturated clay are tougher targets, and the report states our confidence for each one rather than claiming certainty.

Do you need DGVCL's permission to scan a road?

Scanning a public road or estate road needs permission from whoever controls that road, not from the electricity company. The project owner normally arranges it. DGVCL records can help us plan, but we are not affiliated with DGVCL, and any permissions or traffic arrangements are charged outside the metre rate.

Can you survey a Damanganga crossing?

We can scan both approaches and as much of the crossing alignment as access and ground conditions allow. River banks are often wet, which shortens radar reach, so the report notes achieved depth near each bank. For a drilled crossing, the bore path and pit areas are scanned separately.

What if my Vapi route is only 1 km long?

You pay for 4 km – ₹96,000 at standard rate – lifted to ₹1,00,000, the project minimum, because Vapi lies outside Delhi NCR. GST and any separately quoted items are added. Combining it with other nearby stretches gives better value from the same mobilisation.

Is an L-section necessary for an industrial cable route?

Only when your client or specification asks for one. A standard survey already gives positions and approximate depths of existing services. Choosing the L-section adds a profile showing how deep each detected service runs, and moves that stretch from ₹24 to ₹32 per metre.

Do you work on weekends or holidays in Vapi?

Where the client, estate or road authority permits it, yes. Many factory roads are quieter on holidays, which can make scanning easier. Any working pattern outside normal hours, including night shifts, is agreed in advance and priced as a separate item on the quote.
