L-Section GPR Survey — Bhavnagar

L-Section GPR Survey in Bhavnagar

When a Bhavnagar cable work order asks how deep the existing services run along the route, our L-section survey adds that depth profile to the standard radar scan, in one visit.

Quick answer

An L-section GPR survey in Bhavnagar is a cable route scan that also records the depth of every buried service it finds from start to finish of the route, so designers can set trench depth and HDD profiles with confidence. The rate is ₹32 a metre; a plain route scan without the profile stays at ₹24. Minimum billing is 4 km and ₹1,00,000; GST extra.

Rates and page checked:

The profile shows at a glance where a Bhavnagar route runs shallow, deep or congested.
Operator walking a wheeled radar unit beside the edge of a tarred road
Profiling uses the same owned radar cart as the plain scan, so no extra equipment visit.
Roadside distance markers along a planned underground cable alignment
Depth readings are tied to fixed points so the site team can find each spot again.
Bound report sheets showing a findings table next to a depth profile
Depth profile and written findings travel together in the signed Bhavnagar report.

What does an L-section GPR survey in Bhavnagar give you?

A normal route survey answers one question: where are the existing services in plan? An L-section GPR survey in Bhavnagar answers a second one as well: how deep is each of them as you move along the route? The radar work in the field is largely the same. The difference lies in what we read from the data and hand over: a side-on record of how far down each detected line sits as the route unfolds, handed over with the usual ground marks and report.

Designers use that profile to decide whether a trench can keep its planned depth, which spots call for dropping below an obstruction, and what shape an HDD bore should take. For the service as a whole, outside any one city, read our L-section GPR survey page; this page deals with Bhavnagar only.

Which Bhavnagar cable jobs usually ask for GPR profiling?

GPR profiling in Bhavnagar tends to be requested where depth, not just position, drives the design or the paperwork:

  • Distribution cabling contracts in PGVCL's area whose work orders include an L-section as a deliverable;
  • HDD crossings under roads, railway lines or drains, where the bore has to pass above or below services already there;
  • Overhead-to-underground conversion in older streets where many services share a narrow strip;
  • Industrial and port-side feeders, where heavy pipelines and cable trenches make the ground more crowded than usual;
  • Long rural stretches in the district, where the client wants a record of depth for the whole run before deciding the method.

If your job only needs to know where lines run, the standard Bhavnagar cable route survey at ₹24 a metre may be enough.

Why does a depth profile help more than a plan alone?

Looking down from above, a drawing may reveal a water main a metre beside your proposed cable. It cannot show whether that main sits shallower than your trench, deeper than it, or at the very same level. That gap matters most at three kinds of places:

  1. Crossings, where the clearance between the new cable and an older line, above it or below it, has to be fixed before digging;
  2. Congested strips, where a slight change of trench depth can avoid a clash without moving the alignment;
  3. Bore paths, where the driller needs to know which band of depth is free before setting the entry angle.

With the profile in hand, those decisions move from the trench to the drawing board. Our article comparing L-section and standard GPR surveys goes through more examples.

Does a Bhavnagar project still need a separate land survey for underground electrical cabling?

Usually yes, because the two surveys answer different questions. A land or topographic survey records what is on the surface: ground levels, road edges, poles, buildings and boundaries. A GPR L-section records what is under the surface: the buried services detected along the route and roughly how deep each one lies.

On most cabling jobs the two sit side by side: surface levels and the alignment itself come from the land surveyors, while the radar profile reveals what the cable will run into below. Mezux Touch provides the GPR part. When a client also needs our findings drawn up as a cable route L-section drawing for Bhavnagar, CAD/GIS drawing sets can be prepared and are quoted separately from the ₹32 metre rate.

How does Bhavnagar's coastal ground limit the profile?

Radar loses energy faster in ground that is wet or salty, and both are common close to the Gulf of Khambhat. Drier, sandier soil inland usually lets the signal reach further. Because of this, we never promise a fixed depth for the whole city.

On the profile, every section shows the depth the radar actually reached. Below that level the profile is blank rather than guessed, and the report says so plainly. Services that EM locating confirmed but radar could not see clearly are marked as such. If a crossing depends on a line that may lie below radar reach, we can dig a trial pit or sink a borehole there if you ask. More on the limits of depth readings is in our note on GPR depth accuracy.

What does an L-section survey in Bhavnagar cost?

Profiling is charged at ₹32 per metre, an extra ₹8 over the plain survey. Short jobs are invoiced as if they were 4 km long, and Bhavnagar lies beyond Delhi NCR, which brings in the ₹1,00,000 lowest bill per project. GST is extra.

RouteBilled lengthAmount before GST

10 km feeder10 km₹3,20,000
150 km district programme150 km, 25% slab₹36,00,000

Large programmes get cheaper per metre across the board: 25% beyond 100 km, 40% beyond 500 km and half beyond 1,000 km. None of the following is inside the ₹32 figure: crew mobilisation, night shifts, traffic control, permissions, CAD/GIS drawings. The Bhavnagar GPR survey page lists the other services available in the city, and every slab is on our price list.

STEP 1

Send route and scope

Share the alignment file, its length and the work order clause that calls for an L-section, plus any crossings planned.

STEP 2

Scan the full alignment

Radar lines run the length of the route and across it, with EM locating used on every conductive line found.

STEP 3

Mark finds on ground

Each detected service is painted or pegged with its approximate depth so the site team can see it directly.

STEP 4

Build the depth profile

Depth readings for each service are plotted along the route, with radar reach shown honestly section by section.

STEP 5

Hand over signed results

You receive the profile and written report together; drawing sets follow under a separate quote if you ordered them.

FAQ

Questions about L-section GPR survey in Bhavnagar

Can only part of a Bhavnagar route be surveyed as L-section?

Yes. Many clients order the profile only for crossings, congested streets or bore paths, and keep open stretches as a standard survey. Every stretch is priced at whichever rate applies to it, and their lengths are added together when checking the 4 km minimum or a discount slab.

Does the L-section take longer on site?

Field time is similar, because the radar scan covers the route in much the same way. A little more time may go into extra cross-lines at crossings and into checking depth readings. Most of the added effort happens after the field work, when the depth profile is prepared.

We already had a plain survey; can a profile be added now?

Sometimes, if the radar data already collected is good enough to read depths from. Where it is not, or where the route has changed, a fresh scan is needed. Ordering the L-section with the first survey is usually cheaper and quicker than adding it later.

Will the profile show services deeper than radar can reach?

No. The profile covers only what was detected. Below the depth radar reached on each section, it is left blank, and the report states that depth. EM locating can sometimes indicate a deeper conductive line, which is noted, and trial pits can confirm a critical depth on request.

Is the L-section accepted by the DISCOM?

We cannot speak for any DISCOM. Our firm has no link, approval or empanelment with PGVCL or with any other power distributor. Whether a deliverable meets a utility's requirements is a matter between the contractor and that utility, so check the work order wording and tell us about it before the survey.

Can you profile water and telecom lines too, not just power cables?

Yes. Every line we pick up goes onto the profile, whatever it carries. Water mains, sewers, telecom ducts and pipelines appear on the profile alongside power cables, each labelled with the type we believe it to be.
