L-Section GPR Survey — Ahmedabad, Gujarat
L-Section GPR Survey in Ahmedabad
When an Ahmedabad cable or pipe contract wants to see how deep existing services lie along the whole route, our radar survey adds a depth profile to the plan view.

An L-section GPR survey in Ahmedabad does everything a standard route survey does and also produces a depth profile of each detected service along your planned alignment. Mezux Touch prices it at ₹32 per metre instead of ₹24, with a minimum of 4 km and ₹1,00,000 per project. GST and separately quoted items are extra.

What is an L-section GPR survey in Ahmedabad?
A plan-view survey tells the contractor where existing services run. An L-section GPR survey in Ahmedabad adds the second dimension: how deep each detected service sits as you move along the planned route. The result is a longitudinal profile – the "L" in L-section – that a designer can lay the new cable or pipe against.
In practice that means you get:
- everything in our standard route survey – positions of cables, pipes and ducts, marked on the ground and listed in a signed report;
- a depth profile of those detected services along the alignment;
- notes on stretches where depth could not be read with confidence.
This page covers the depth-profile survey only, within Ahmedabad. Our general radar work in the city is described on the Ahmedabad GPR survey page, and the service in general is on the L-section GPR survey page.
Why do Ahmedabad cable contracts ask for a depth profile?
A plan alone often fails in a city where several layers of services share the same strip of road. Knowing that a water main is "somewhere under the footpath" does not tell the designer whether a new cable can pass over it at standard cover or must drop beneath it.
Situations where the profile earns its cost in Ahmedabad:
- Footpaths along SG Highway, where parallel ducts and feeders leave little room and the designer needs to choose a level, not just a line.
- Roads near metro alignments, where services shifted during construction may now sit at unexpected depths.
- Bore crossings under BRTS lanes and major junctions, where the bore profile has to clear everything above and below it.
- Old drainage in the walled city, often deeper or shallower than the drawings suggest.
Torrent Power holds the electricity licence for Ahmedabad; Mezux Touch has no affiliation with that company or any other distribution company, and our depth-profile surveys are done for whichever contractor or client orders them.
What does GPR profiling in Ahmedabad add over a plain scan?
The field work is similar, but the output and the price differ. GPR profiling in Ahmedabad needs more careful calibration and more attention to depth readings at each service, which is why it sits on a separate rate.
| What you get | Plain route scan | With depth profile |
|---|---|---|
| Price | ₹24 per metre | ₹32 per metre |
| Service positions marked on ground | Yes | Yes |
| Approximate depths at marked points | Yes | Yes |
| Depth profile of detected services along route | No | Yes |
| Signed report with limitations | Yes | Yes |
If you are deciding which one your job needs, our article comparing L-section and standard GPR survey sets out the trade-off. For a power cable job where only plan positions are needed, the Ahmedabad HT/LT cable route survey is usually enough.
Where in the city is a reliable depth reading hardest to get?
Depth from radar is calculated, not measured, and the calculation depends on how fast the signal travels through the ground. That speed changes with soil and moisture, so the profile is only as good as the calibration behind it. In Ahmedabad the difficult places are predictable:
- Walled city lanes, where handheld equipment and short scan lines limit how many readings can be cross-checked.
- Riverfront and other built-up ground, where fill material behaves differently from natural soil a few metres away.
- Recently reinstated trenches, which can blur radar returns along the very strip a new cable might use.
- Wet-season ground, when moisture shortens radar reach.
We recalibrate when the ground changes and state, section by section, how deep the radar actually reached. If a particular depth is critical, a trial pit or borehole at that point can be added on request. Our guide to GPR depth accuracy explains the limits plainly.
How is a cable route L-section drawing in Ahmedabad different from a land survey?
It answers a different question, and the two are often confused in tender documents. A land or topographic survey records the surface – road edges, levels, trees, poles, chambers and boundaries. A cable route L-section drawing in Ahmedabad from our survey records what lies below that surface along the alignment: the services radar detected and their depths.
When an Ahmedabad tender asks for a land survey for underground electrical cabling, it usually means that surface record. The L-section GPR survey answers a different question, and many projects need both. We provide the subsurface part; if your work order also asks for surface levels, those come from a land surveyor, and we can coordinate so both sets of information line up on the same route.
How much does an L-section survey in Ahmedabad cost?
The L-section rate is ₹32 for every metre of alignment. Orders under 4 km are charged as 4 km, so the smallest L-section job comes to ₹1,28,000 – above the ₹1,00,000 project minimum that applies to Ahmedabad as a city outside Delhi NCR. GST is added to every bill.
| Example | How it is billed | Before GST |
|---|---|---|
| 3 km cable route, full L-section | Charged as 4 km × ₹32 | ₹1,28,000 |
| 9 km feeder, full L-section | 9,000 m × ₹32 | ₹2,88,000 |
| 10 km route, L-section on 3 km only | 7 km × ₹24 + 3 km × ₹32 | ₹2,64,000 |
| 150 km programme, full L-section | 150,000 m × ₹32, less 25% | ₹36,00,000 |
Volume discounts apply to the complete order once it crosses a slab – 25% beyond 100 km, 40% beyond 500 km, 50% beyond 1,000 km. Mobilisation, night working, traffic and permission arrangements, and CAD/GIS drawing sets are not part of the metre rate and are quoted individually. See the full price list for every slab.

₹8 extra per metre
The depth profile costs only ₹8 a metre more than a plain route survey, because both are done in the same crew visit.
Profile part of the route
Pay the L-section rate only on the stretches your contract names, with the remainder billed at ₹24 a metre.
Minimum already covered
A 4 km L-section order totals ₹1,28,000, so the ₹1,00,000 project floor adds nothing to it.
Slabs on the full order
Large programmes past 100, 500 or 1,000 km get 25%, 40% or 50% off every metre in the order.
No equipment hire built in
Our 58 radar systems are company-owned, so the rate carries no rental cost or sub-contractor margin.
Extras shown separately
Night work, traffic arrangements, mobilisation and drawing sets are listed as their own lines, never hidden inside the metre rate.

Questions about L-section GPR survey in Ahmedabad
Does the depth profile cover gas and water pipes as well as cables?
Yes. The profile includes every service the survey detects along the route – power and telecom cables, water and sewer lines, gas pipes and drains. Services that were not detected cannot appear on it, which is why the report lists stretches where detection was limited.
Can a plain survey we already ordered be upgraded to an L-section?
Sometimes. If the original field data supports it and the route has not changed, part of the work may be reusable. Often the depth work needs a further visit with closer readings. Send us the details and we will say whether an upgrade or a fresh survey makes more sense.
Is your L-section accepted by the licensee or the client?
Acceptance is decided by whoever specifies the work, not by us. We have no affiliation with Torrent Power or any DISCOM. Send us the survey clause from your contract and we will tell you whether our depth profile and report match what it asks for.
How deep can the profile see in Ahmedabad?
There is no single figure for the city. Radar reach depends on soil type and moisture – wet clay and saline ground reduce it, dry sandy ground extends it. The report states the depth actually reached on each section, so you know where the profile is complete and where it is limited.
Does an L-section survey take longer than a standard one?
A little. Depth readings need more calibration and closer checks at each detected service, so daily coverage is somewhat lower. On a short Ahmedabad route the difference is small; on long programmes we plan extra crew days into the schedule we send with the quote.
Will the profile show where our new cable should go?
It shows the services already in the ground and their depths. Choosing the level for your new cable is the designer's decision, but the profile gives them what they need to set it with clearance above or below existing services.
