L-Section Survey — Halol, Gujarat

L-Section GPR Survey in Halol

Quick answer

An L-section GPR survey in Halol adds a depth profile of every detected buried service along your cable route to the normal route survey, which tells the designer where the new cable has to drop deeper or be bored. It costs ₹32 per metre; at least 4 km and ₹1,00,000 per project are billed, plus GST.

Basic depth-profile sketch with existing pipes and cables plotted beneath a route
The profile shows at a glance where existing lines sit above or below the planned cable.
Radar survey cart rolled by an operator over a paved road
Field scanning for an L-section follows the full length of the alignment.
Radar record with curved reflections marking buried pipes and cables
Each curved reflection is one service; its peak gives the depth used in the profile.
Workers hand-digging a trial pit to expose a buried cable
A trial pit can prove a critical depth before the cable design is frozen.

What is an L-section GPR survey in Halol?

An L-section GPR survey in Halol is our route survey with one addition. Along with where each buried service lies in plan, you get a profile of the depth at which each detected line runs over the full length of the alignment. It answers a plain question for the cable designer: at which points will the new cable have to pass under, over or around something already in the ground?

In the field we use the same radar and EM equipment as a standard survey, but the scan is run so that depth is captured along the whole alignment rather than only at chosen points. Some consultants describe this as GPR profiling in Halol tender papers; the work is the same.

It is not a topographic or boundary survey. If your tender also asks for a land survey for underground electrical cabling on Halol routes, such as levels or property lines, that is a separate scope from ours.

When does a Halol cabling job need an L-section?

  • The work order or tender requires the contractor to submit an L-section or a depth profile of existing services.
  • The route includes road, drain or factory-entry crossings where the designer must choose between a deeper trench and an HDD bore.
  • Estate roads in Halol GIDC hold several services at different depths, and the alignment has to thread between them.
  • The client wants a record of existing depths to compare with the as-laid cable later.

If none of these apply, the standard survey at ₹24 per metre is usually enough, and our Halol HT/LT cable route survey page explains that option.

How does it differ from a standard route survey?

On a Halol estate feeder, the profile is often what shows that an existing drain at a factory gate sits lower than the planned cable depth, or that an old cable runs shallow under the estate road. Those two findings change the design in opposite ways – one forces a bore or a deeper trench, the other a careful hand-dug section – and both are far cheaper to handle on paper than on site.

Order the L-section at the start. The field scan is planned differently to capture continuous depth, so converting a finished standard survey means a second visit and usually a second mobilisation.

What does the profile show, and where are its limits?

The profile includes each service the survey detected, drawn at its depth along the route. It can only be as complete as the detection behind it:

  • a line that is too small, too deep or in poor ground for radar may not appear;
  • depth accuracy depends on soil and moisture, and wet clay reduces how far radar can reach;
  • stretches we could not scan – parked vehicles, locked yards, waterlogged patches – are flagged as gaps, never filled in by guesswork.

If the design hinges on one depth, trial pits or boreholes can be dug on request. Read how L-section drawings are used on DISCOM cabling in Gujarat for the wider context, and our L-section service overview sets out the general method.

What does an L-section survey in Halol cost?

The rate is ₹32 per metre, or ₹32,000 for each kilometre of route. A few worked figures, all before GST:

  • 2 km route: billed as the 4 km minimum, ₹1,28,000 – already above the ₹1,00,000 floor for projects beyond Delhi NCR.
  • 5 km feeder: ₹1,60,000.
  • 110 km programme: the 25% slab brings every metre down to ₹24, so ₹26,40,000.

The slab rises to 40% off past 500 km and 50% off past 1,000 km. Kept out of the metre rate and itemised individually: mobilisation, any night shift, permits or traffic control, and CAD/GIS drawings. For other towns and slabs, see the GPR survey price list or return to the Halol GPR survey page.

TIP 1

Check the contract clause

Read whether the work order asks for an L-section or depth profile before you request a quote, and send us that clause.

TIP 2

Fix the alignment first

A profile is tied to one route, so share the final or near-final alignment rather than a rough corridor sketch.

TIP 3

Mark the critical crossings

Point out road, drain and factory-entry crossings where cable depth is still undecided, so extra scan passes are planned there.

TIP 4

Ask for trial pits early

If one depth will decide between trenching and boring, add a trial pit at that point to the same order.

TIP 5

Agree drawing needs upfront

If the client wants a CAD or GIS drawing set as well, say so now; it is priced separately from the survey.

One rate, ₹32 per metre

The L-section survey is priced by route length only, so a 5 km Halol feeder comes to ₹1,60,000 before GST.

Avoid a second mobilisation

Choosing the L-section at the start means the crew travels once, instead of returning when the client later asks for profiles.

Slabs apply to L-section too

The 25%, 40% and 50% whole-order discounts work exactly as they do for the standard route survey.

Mix standard and L-section

Only the stretches that need a profile can be ordered at ₹32; the remaining stretches stay on the ₹24 rate.

Trial pits only where needed

Boreholes or pits are added at the few points that decide the design, not along the whole route.

No hidden drawing cost

CAD/GIS drawing sets, mobilisation and night shifts are quoted on their own lines, so the metre rate stays easy to compare.

FAQ

Questions about L-section GPR survey in Halol

Is the cable route L-section drawing that Halol contractors submit included in ₹32 per metre?

The ₹32 rate covers the L-section survey and the depth profile it produces. If your client wants a formal CAD or GIS drawing set in its own format, that is quoted separately. Tell us the submission requirement when you ask for a quote, so both items are priced together and nothing is missed.

Can I convert a standard survey into an L-section later?

It can be done, but scanning for a profile follows a different plan, so the crew has to come back and rescan. That usually means another mobilisation charge. If there is any chance the client will ask for profiles, ordering the L-section at the start is cheaper.

Does the L-section show ground levels as well?

No. It shows how deep each detected service lies below the surface along your route. It is not a levelling or topographic survey, and we do not offer one with it. If levels are needed for the cable design, they come from a separate land survey.

Is the minimum order different for an L-section?

The same 4 km minimum applies, and outside Delhi NCR so does the ₹1,00,000 per-project minimum. At ₹32 per metre, a 4 km L-section already comes to ₹1,28,000, so the project minimum rarely affects an L-section order in Halol.

Do slab discounts apply to L-section surveys?

Yes. When the order as a whole goes past 100 km, each metre in it drops by a quarter; the reduction grows to 40% beyond 500 km and to half beyond 1,000 km. An order mixing standard and L-section stretches counts its total length towards the slab.

Can trial pits be added to confirm depths?

Yes, if you ask for them. Pits or boreholes earn their cost at the one or two points where a depth decides between trenching and an HDD bore. They are priced on request according to number and location, and the results are noted alongside the profile.
