L-section GPR survey — Rajkot, Gujarat
L-Section GPR Survey in Rajkot
When a Rajkot cabling contract asks how deep the existing services sit along the route, we add a depth profile to the radar survey, so designers see crossings and clearances side-on.

An L-section GPR survey in Rajkot adds a depth profile of every detected cable, pipe and duct along your planned route to the normal radar scan, so a designer can see where crossings sit and how much room is left. It costs ₹32 per metre, billed on a 4 km minimum with a ₹1,00,000 project floor; GST extra.

What is an L-section GPR survey in Rajkot?
A standard radar survey shows where buried services lie in plan – which side of the road, how far from the kerb, where they cross your alignment. An L-section GPR survey in Rajkot keeps all of that and adds one more view: a profile along the route showing how deep each detected service sits.
Looking at the route side-on in this way helps the people who design and build the cable:
- the designer sees where an existing pipe or cable will pass above or below the new one;
- the drilling team sees what an HDD bore must clear between entry and exit;
- the trenching supervisor sees where a deeper or shallower trench will be needed.
The rate is ₹32 per metre instead of ₹24 for the plan survey alone. Our L-section GPR survey page explains the service in general, and L-section vs standard GPR survey helps decide which one a job needs.
When do Rajkot cabling contracts ask for an L-section?
Requests for an L-section usually come from the work order rather than from the site. Typical cases in and around Rajkot:
- Underground cabling for distribution networks. Rajkot hosts the head office of PGVCL, the state distribution company for Saurashtra and Kutch, and cabling work orders often name a depth profile among the survey requirements.
- Trenchless crossings. Where a cable is bored under a main road, railway line or drain, the depth of everything in the bore path matters more than its plan position.
- Crowded corridors. On roads already carrying water, drainage and fibre, a profile shows whether a new cable can pass between existing services or must go deeper.
- Tender quantities. BOQs sometimes list L-section length separately from standard survey length.
Mezux Touch is not affiliated with PGVCL or any other DISCOM. We work for the contractor or consultant who orders the survey and follow the survey clause they share with us. More on how such requirements read in Gujarat contracts is in our article on L-sections for DISCOM cable work.
Which Rajkot stretches gain most from a depth profile?
A profile is most useful where services stack on top of one another or where the new cable has to dip under something. On Rajkot routes those places tend to be:
- Rail crossings around Rajkot Junction, where bores pass under the track and its own cables.
- Aji river bridges and culverts, where the new cable either goes through a bore beneath the bed or follows the bridge approach.
- Ring Road and radial road junctions, where services from several directions meet at different depths.
- Estate roads at Aji GIDC, Metoda and Shapar-Veraval, where private feeders and process lines were added one unit at a time.
- Old-city lanes, where shallow drains and house connections leave little depth for a new LT cable.
On long straight runs with few services, a standard survey is often enough. Many clients therefore order the L-section on selected stretches only – a sensible way to control cost on a long route.
How does GPR profiling in Rajkot deal with changing ground?
GPR profiling in Rajkot rests on depth estimates, and those depend on the ground. Soil type and moisture decide how far the signal travels: wet clay and saline ground weaken it, while dry sandy ground lets it reach further. A route that starts on filled ground under a city road and ends on open land at the edge of town can show very different reach along its length.
We handle this openly rather than smoothing it over:
- the profile shows detected services only where the radar actually saw them;
- sections where reach was limited are marked as such, not left blank;
- depth figures are approximate, and the report says so;
- where a design hangs on one exact depth, we can open a trial pit or borehole at that point on request.
For how radar and pits complement each other, see GPR vs trial pit and borehole.
What does an L-section survey in Rajkot cost?
The L-section rate is ₹32 for each metre of route. Anything under 4 km is charged as 4 km, and because Rajkot is beyond Delhi NCR, no project here is billed below ₹1,00,000. GST comes on top of every figure.
| Rajkot route | Length | L-section amount before GST |
|---|---|---|
| Short estate feeder | 3 km (billed as 4 km) | ₹1,28,000 |
| Junction-to-substation cable | 9 km | ₹2,88,000 |
| Multi-feeder city package | 40 km | ₹12,80,000 |
| Regional cabling programme | 600 km (40% slab) | ₹1,15,20,000 |
Whole-order slabs reduce every metre once an order passes 100 km (25% off), 500 km (40% off) or 1,000 km (50% off). Mobilisation from Faridabad, night-shift working, traffic arrangements and permissions, and CAD/GIS drawing sets are not part of the metre rate; each is quoted on its own line. All slabs are set out on our GPR survey price list.
Does an L-section replace a land survey for underground electrical cabling in Rajkot?
No, and it helps to keep the two apart. A land survey for underground electrical cabling in Rajkot normally records surface features – road edges, levels, boundaries and structures – so the route can be fixed on the ground. Our L-section looks below the surface: it profiles the buried services the new cable must avoid.
Clients sometimes ask us for a cable route L-section drawing for Rajkot. What we provide under the ₹32 rate is the depth profile of detected services inside the signed report. If the client needs formal CAD or GIS drawing sets prepared from it, we quote those separately.
Most cable projects need both kinds of information, and the GPR work slots in once the alignment is roughly fixed. For the plan-only version of this work, see our Rajkot HT/LT cable route survey; for other services in the city, visit GPR survey in Rajkot.

Profile only the stretches needed
Order ₹32 L-section survey for crossings and crowded roads, and keep open stretches on the ₹24 plan rate.
One visit for both views
Plan survey and depth profile come from the same radar passes, so no second crew trip is needed.
Whole-order slabs apply
Once the combined order goes past 100 km, the L-section rate falls by a quarter on every metre surveyed.
Combine Saurashtra routes
Adding routes in nearby districts to a Rajkot order shares mobilisation and lifts the total towards a lower slab.
Own systems, own crews
Our 58 GPR systems and in-house operators keep hire charges and sub-contractor margins out of the price.
Drawings priced in the open
If formal CAD or GIS sets are wanted, they are quoted as a separate line, never folded into the metre rate.

Questions about L-section surveys in Rajkot
Is the L-section done on a separate visit?
No. The depth profile is built from the same radar and EM work as the plan survey, so both come from one visit. The extra ₹8 per metre over the standard rate covers the added depth analysis and the profile in the report, not a second trip.
Can I order an L-section for part of a route only?
Yes. Many clients ask for the depth profile only at crossings and crowded stretches. Those lengths are billed at ₹32 per metre and the rest at ₹24, while the 4 km minimum and the ₹1,00,000 project floor apply to the order as a whole.
Does the profile show services the radar could not identify?
Yes. Any clear reflection that looks like a buried service is shown, even if its type cannot be confirmed, and it is labelled as unidentified. Leaving it out would suggest clear ground where something actually exists, which is the risk an L-section is meant to remove.
How accurate are the depths in the profile?
They are estimates whose reliability depends on soil, moisture and the size of the service. The report states this and marks stretches where radar reach was limited. Where one depth is critical to the design, a trial pit or borehole at that point gives a physical check.
Is an L-section useful for HDD under the Aji river?
Very much so, as far as the banks and dry bed can be scanned. A profile shows what lies in the bore path near the entry and exit pits. Ground under flowing water cannot be scanned, and any such gap is recorded in the report.
Who checks the L-section before it is issued?
The crew that ran the survey prepares the profile, and it is checked internally against the radar records before the signed report is released. Our quality management follows ISO 9001:2015. If your client raises a query, we answer it from the same survey data.
