L-Section GPR Survey — Surat, Gujarat
L-Section GPR Survey in Surat
A plan view tells you where buried services lie; a depth profile tells you how deep. For Surat cable and duct routes we scan the alignment and plot both in one visit.

An L-section GPR survey in Surat scans your planned cable or pipe route and adds a profile of the depth at which each detected service runs, so trench levels and bore paths can be set with fewer surprises. Mezux Touch charges ₹32 per metre, with a 4 km minimum and ₹1,00,000 project minimum; GST is extra.

What does an L-section GPR survey in Surat add to a route scan?
A standard route survey answers one question: where, in plan, are the existing cables and pipes along this alignment? An L-section GPR survey in Surat answers a second one as well: at what depth does each of them run? The radar scan is the same, but every detected service is also plotted on a longitudinal depth profile drawn along the route.
That profile lets a designer see, in a single view, where a new HT cable, OFC duct or water line can stay at normal cover and where it must dip under or rise over something already in the ground. It is ordered at ₹32 per metre instead of ₹24.
For the general method, see our L-section GPR survey service; for a side-by-side view of the two options, read L-section vs standard GPR survey.
When does a Surat project need a depth profile, not just a plan?
Many jobs are fine with plan positions and ground marks. A depth profile earns its extra ₹8 a metre when:
- the work order or tender for a cabling package names an L-section as a required submission;
- the route will be laid by HDD, so the bore designer must see what sits over and under the intended path;
- a new service must cross many existing ones, and the trench depth at each crossing has to be decided in advance;
- the owner wants a lasting depth record for maintenance, beyond paint marks that fade in weeks;
- gravity lines such as drains or sewers are involved, where level matters more than usual.
If none of these apply, a standard survey usually gives you what you need, and we will tell you so at the quote stage.
Where along Surat routes do service depths change most?
Depths are rarely uniform for long in this city. Points where the profile tends to jump include:
- Tapi bridge approaches. Raised approaches and retaining walls push services up, down or sideways, and river-bank ground is often softer and wetter.
- Creek and drain culverts. Lines that pass under a culvert drop sharply, then climb back on the far side.
- The Mumbai–Ahmedabad rail corridor. Services crossing the railway are frequently in deeper casings or older bores.
- Surat Metro work zones. Diverted cables and pipes may now sit at depths unlike the original layout.
- Hazira-side roads. Large industrial pipelines and heavy cables towards the Hazira industrial area and port can lie deeper than city distribution lines.
Seeing these jumps on a profile before laying is the main reason to choose an L-section over plan-only marking.
How reliable are the depths on a Surat L-section?
Radar measures travel time, and depth is worked out from that time and the soil's signal speed, which we calibrate on site. The result is a good estimate, not a tape measurement. How far radar sees also varies: wet clay, a high water table after the monsoon and saline ground near the coast all shorten reach, while drier, sandier ground helps.
So for each stretch the report records the depth radar truly reached, and it marks any service whose depth is uncertain. Where one depth matters a great deal, a trial pit or borehole can be dug on request to settle it. Our article on Surat and south Gujarat soil covers ground behaviour in more detail.
Is GPR profiling in Surat the same as a land survey for underground cabling?
Not quite. People searching for a land survey for underground electrical cabling in Surat usually want to know what is below the ground along the cable path, and that is what GPR profiling in Surat delivers: buried services, their positions and approximate depths along the route.
A boundary, revenue or topographic land survey is a different exercise and is not part of this service. If your project needs one, it is normally done by a separate surveyor, and our depth profile can then be read alongside it.
What does an L-section survey in Surat cost?
We charge ₹32 per metre of alignment, covering scan and depth profile together. Small jobs are charged as 4 km. Surat lies outside Delhi NCR, so a ₹1,00,000 lowest bill per project also applies, though at ₹32 a metre the 4 km floor already crosses it. GST is added on the invoice.
| Route length | Calculation | Amount before GST |
|---|---|---|
| 3 km duct route | Charged as 4 km × ₹32,000 | ₹1,28,000 |
| 9 km feeder | 9 km × ₹32,000 | ₹2,88,000 |
| 9 km feeder, plan only (for comparison) | 9 km × ₹24,000 | ₹2,16,000 |
| 150 km package | ₹48,00,000 less 25% | ₹36,00,000 |
Volume discounts apply to the full order, every metre included: 25% when it exceeds 100 km, 40% past 500 km, 50% past 1,000 km. Travel and mobilisation, night work, traffic or permission arrangements, and CAD/GIS sets fall outside the ₹32 figure and are listed one by one. See the full GPR survey price list.
Which Surat clients order a cable route L-section drawing?
Most requests come from EPC contractors on power distribution and telecom packages, consultants preparing designs, and developers laying services into new plots. A cable route L-section drawing for Surat is often asked for in packages within Torrent Power's city area or DGVCL's wider south Gujarat area. Mezux Touch is not affiliated with Torrent Power, DGVCL or any DISCOM; we work for the client who places the order.

Scan and profile, one rate
₹32 per metre covers the radar route scan together with the depth profile of services found along it.
No second mobilisation
Profiling during the first visit costs far less than calling the crew back from Faridabad to add depths later.
Clear 4 km starting point
A short Surat route is charged as 4 km, ₹1,28,000 before GST, which already clears the project minimum.
Discount on the whole length
Packages above 100 km get a quarter off every metre; above 500 km it becomes 40%, and above 1,000 km half.

Questions about L-section GPR survey in Surat
We already have a plan survey – can depths be added later?
Possible, though the total usually ends up higher. Depth picking needs radar data recorded with that purpose in mind, so some stretches may have to be rescanned, and a second mobilisation from Faridabad is charged. Ordering the L-section at the start keeps everything in one visit.
Will the profile show services that radar could not identify?
Yes. Any clear reflection along the route is plotted, even if we cannot say whether it is a cable, pipe or duct. Such finds are labelled as unidentified, so the designer still allows for them when setting trench or bore levels.
Do you profile both sides of a Tapi bridge crossing?
Where the route crosses the river on a bridge, we scan the ground approaches on both banks up to the bridge structure. Services fixed to the bridge deck itself are outside radar ground survey and are noted from visible evidence and owner records only.
Is the L-section rate the same for a short and a long route?
The metre rate is ₹32 for every route. What changes is the floor and the discount: anything shorter than 4 km is billed at the 4 km figure, and orders past 100 km, 500 km or 1,000 km get 25%, 40% or 50% off the whole order.
Can the profile be used to plan an HDD bore under the railway?
It is one of the most useful inputs. The profile shows the services above and near the planned bore path at the crossing, as far as radar reach allows. The bore designer then fixes entry, exit and depth, and the railway's own permissions and rules still apply.
How long after the scan do we receive the depth profile?
Ground marks are made during the scan itself. The depth profile and signed report follow once data processing and checking are complete, and the time depends on route length and congestion. We confirm a delivery date in the quote, so your design timeline can be planned around it.
