OFC Route Survey — Ahmedabad, Gujarat
OFC & Telecom Route GPR Survey in Ahmedabad
New fibre in Ahmedabad has to find space beside power cables, water lines and the ducts of other operators. We scan the planned duct path first, so trenching and HDD avoid what is already buried.

A telecom cable route survey in Ahmedabad checks the planned OFC alignment with GPR and EM locating, so existing ducts, cables and pipes are known before trenching or HDD begins. Mezux Touch charges ₹24 a metre, or ₹32 with a depth profile. Orders start at 4 km and ₹1,00,000 per project; GST is billed on top.

What does a telecom cable route survey in Ahmedabad tell an operator?
Fibre rollouts fail on the ground, not on the map. A telecom cable route survey in Ahmedabad takes the alignment your planning team has drawn and checks the actual strip of footpath, verge or carriageway where the duct will go.
By the end of it the operator or EPC contractor knows:
- which buried services lie along and across the route – power cables, water and sewer lines, gas pipes and existing telecom ducts;
- where the planned line is clear enough for open trenching;
- where congestion or crossings make HDD the safer option;
- which stretches could not be scanned, and why.
This page is about fibre and duct routes inside Ahmedabad only. For the general survey offer in the city, read our GPR survey in Ahmedabad page; the method we follow on every fibre job is on the OFC route GPR survey service page.
Which Ahmedabad corridors are hardest for new fibre?
Some parts of the city take a new duct easily. Others have been dug so often that finding a clear line is the main job.
- SG Highway. Commercial towers along the corridor draw fibre from several operators, so the same approach roads tend to carry parallel ducts, and diverse-path routes often compete for the same footpath.
- The walled old city. FTTH and last-mile fibre in the heritage lanes has to squeeze in beside water, drainage and power in very little width, and big equipment cannot enter.
- Metro alignments. Utilities moved during metro works may no longer match what earlier fibre drawings show.
- Sabarmati riverfront roads. Fibre along these corridors runs through built-up ground laid during the riverfront works.
- SP Ring Road and the city edge. Long rural-style stretches move fast, but drains, canals and road crossings break them up.
An optical fiber route survey in Ahmedabad is planned with these zones in mind – fast passes where the verge is open, closer lines and handheld work where it is not.
Can GPR find the HDPE ducts of other operators?
Usually, yes. HDPE ducts carry no current, so an EM locator cannot pick them up unless a tracer wire or metal-armoured cable runs inside. Radar does not need conductivity; it reflects off the change between the duct and the soil around it. That makes GPR the main tool for a telecom infrastructure survey in Ahmedabad, where plastic ducts from several networks may share one verge.
Limits worth knowing:
- small ducts at depth in wet ground give weak returns;
- bundles of ducts can merge into one reflection;
- radar reach changes with soil and moisture, so the report records the depth reached on each section.
Our guide to GPR scanning for OFC routing covers how duct reflections are read.
When does a fibre route need a trenchless utility survey?
Ahmedabad's fibre routes regularly meet places where opening the road is either slow to get permission for or simply a bad idea – BRTS lanes, major junctions, rail lines and drains. These are bored with HDD, and a bore is only as safe as the knowledge of what lies along its path.
A trenchless utility survey in Ahmedabad for a fibre bore covers:
- the full bore path between entry and exit points, scanned in a grid rather than a single line;
- the entry and exit pit areas, where services cluster near kerbs;
- a depth profile across the crossing when the drilling engineer needs it, at the L-section rate.
We own 18 HDD rigs as well as the radar systems, so the same company can survey a crossing and, under a separate order, drill it. Our HDD route survey services page explains bore-path scanning in more detail, and these HDD route survey services in Ahmedabad follow the same rate card as the rest of the fibre route.
What does the fibre crew get at the end of the survey?
The handover is built for the people laying the duct. Detected services are marked on the ground in their utility colours with approximate depth noted. A signed report lists the findings stretch by stretch, the depth radar reached, the crossings examined and every section where access or ground conditions prevented a scan.
CAD or GIS drawing sets can be produced for operators who keep their network in a GIS, but they are quoted separately and are not part of the metre rate. Mezux Touch has no affiliation with Torrent Power, the city's electricity licensee, or with any other DISCOM – the report belongs to the operator or contractor who commissioned it.
How is an OFC route survey in Ahmedabad priced?
Fibre routes are billed per metre surveyed: ₹24 for a standard scan, ₹32 where a depth profile is wanted. Anything under 4 km is billed as a 4 km order, and because Ahmedabad lies outside Delhi NCR there is also a project floor of ₹1,00,000. GST is charged in addition.
| Fibre job | Rate applied | Before GST |
|---|---|---|
| 3.5 km FTTH feeder route | Billed as 4 km (₹96,000), lifted to project floor | ₹1,00,000 |
| 15 km metro-ring fibre route | ₹24 per metre | ₹3,60,000 |
| 600 km state backbone, Ahmedabad included | ₹24 per metre, 40% slab | ₹86,40,000 |
| 1,050 km multi-city rollout | ₹24 per metre, 50% slab | ₹1,26,00,000 |
The slab discount reaches back to the first metre, which is why a fibre order just over 100 km ends up cheaper than one of exactly 100 km. Crew travel, night working, traffic or permission work and drawing sets always sit outside these figures. The complete table is on our GPR survey price list, and our work for networks is outlined on the telecom operators page.

Metre rate for fibre
A 15 km fibre route at ₹24 per metre costs ₹3,60,000 before GST, with no extra charge for using our radar.
Depth only at crossings
Order the ₹32 profile only for bore crossings and dense stretches, and keep the rest of the route at the standard rate.
Combine city and backbone
Last-mile Ahmedabad routes added to an intercity backbone order count towards one total and one discount slab.
Big rollouts pay less
Fibre programmes over 100 km save 25% on each metre; past 500 km the saving is 40%, past 1,000 km 50%.
Survey and drilling in-house
Owning both radar systems and HDD rigs means no third-party margin on either, whichever service you order.
Night work quoted openly
If busy roads need night scanning, it appears as its own line with mobilisation, traffic arrangements and drawings.

Questions about OFC route survey in Ahmedabad
Do you survey last-mile FTTH routes in residential societies?
Yes, as long as the society or owner allows access. Internal roads in housing societies often carry water, drainage, power and older telecom cables with no shared record. We scan the planned duct path and the entry points to each building, and the same metre rate and minimums apply.
Can you survey a diverse-path route as a separate alignment?
Yes. Many enterprise links need two physically separate paths. We survey each alignment on its own and report where they run close to each other or cross the same services, which helps the planner confirm the paths are truly separate below ground.
Will the survey show where an existing duct has spare capacity?
No. Radar can show that a duct is there and roughly how deep, but not what is inside it or whether it has spare space. Capacity has to be checked from the duct owner's records or by opening a chamber, which is outside our survey.
Do you scan inside manholes and chambers?
We record chambers and handholes visible on the surface and scan around them, since services often converge there. Entering a chamber is not part of a GPR route survey; where the owner opens one, the visible cable entries can be noted in the report.
Can the survey keep pace with a fast duct-laying programme?
Usually. We can run several crews on a long Ahmedabad route so the survey stays ahead of the laying gangs. Tell us the planned laying rate and we will set the survey programme so marks are fresh when trenching or boring reaches each stretch.
What if the planned fibre route turns out to be too crowded?
The report shows the crowded stretches clearly, and we can scan an alternative alignment on the other side of the road or a parallel street. The extra length is billed at the same rate and added to the order total.
