Quick answer

An electric cable route GPR survey in Godhra maps the pipes, ducts and existing cables along a proposed HT or LT route, recording their position, approximate depth and crossings before trenching or HDD. Mezux Touch prices it at ₹24 per metre, or ₹32 per metre including an L-section, with a 4 km minimum and GST extra.

What does an electric cable route GPR survey in Godhra involve?

The survey follows the exact path your new HT or LT cable will take and records everything buried along it. For each stretch the crew notes services running parallel to the route, services crossing it, their approximate depth, and the places where the alignment runs into a conflict that the designer must resolve. Road, drain, culvert and railway crossings receive their own record.

An electric cable route GPR survey in Godhra is useful to anyone laying power cable: contractors executing distribution conversion scopes, EPC firms connecting industrial consumers, and engineers relocating cables for road or drainage works. The general approach is set out on our HT/LT cable route GPR survey page; this page covers what changes for Godhra.

Why do cable routes in Panchmahal need a survey first?

Godhra and the rest of Panchmahal district are supplied by MGVCL. Across MGVCL's seven districts, the underground network in March 2020 was only 0.114 times the length of overhead lines (Power Line, Aug 2021), so most of the distribution system in this region still runs on poles. In August and October 2026, listed contractors reported large MGVCL orders for covered conductor and underground networks in central Gujarat, with areas such as Borsad, Nadiad City and Baroda named. As such work spreads, more cables will need to go into roads that already carry water, drainage and telecom services.

Our article on why GPR survey comes first in MGVCL underground cabling explains the sequence. To be clear, Mezux Touch has no affiliation with MGVCL or any other DISCOM, and we hold no order from them; we work for the contractors and engineers on the ground.

Which stretches make HT cable route mapping in Godhra harder?

  • Railway approaches – Godhra is a junction on the Vadodara–Ratlam line, and routes that pass the yard or cross the tracks carry boundary walls, drains and railway-owned services on both sides.
  • Highway verges – cable routes along the roads to Vadodara and Dahod meet culverts, junction widenings and fibre ducts laid by several operators.
  • Market and old town streets – little width, many house connections and frequent street-light and LT feeds.
  • Substation exits – outgoing cables and earthing leave the yard in a tight bundle, so scan lines are placed closer together.
  • Stony ground – parts of Panchmahal have gravel and rock fragments that scatter radar, so readings are cross-checked more carefully.

Routes heading east can be grouped with our work in Dahod to share one mobilisation.

How do radar and EM combine for underground electrical line tracing in Godhra?

Radar lines are run across the route at regular spacing and along it where services run parallel, so that each buried line is caught at several points and its direction can be followed. Electromagnetic locating adds a second check on conductive cables: in passive mode it picks up the field around energised cables, and where the owner allows a signal to be connected to a cable at a pillar or joint, active tracing follows that specific cable along its length.

Surface evidence completes the picture. Feeder pillars, ring main units, cable markers, valve chambers and manhole covers all show where services enter and leave the ground. When radar, the locator and surface clues agree, the line is reported with good confidence; when they do not, the report says so plainly.

Trench or HDD – what does the survey tell your cabling team?

For open trenching the survey divides the route into stretches where machine digging is reasonable and stretches where services lie close enough to call for hand excavation. It also shows where shifting the alignment by a short distance avoids a congested strip altogether.

For horizontal directional drilling under roads, drains or the railway, the survey covers the bore path and the ground where entry and exit pits will be dug. Depth reach depends on soil and moisture, and our report gives the depth actually achieved section by section. Where a bore must pass deeper than the radar confirmed, trial pits or boreholes can be arranged on request.

How is the Godhra cable route survey priced?

Charges are worked out per metre of route surveyed, with GST added:

  • ₹24 per metre for the standard route survey, or ₹32 per metre where an L-section is included.
  • Orders below 4 km are charged as 4 km, and a ₹1,00,000 project minimum applies because Godhra is outside Delhi NCR.
  • Every metre of the order is discounted 25% once the total exceeds 100 km, 40% beyond 500 km and 50% beyond 1,000 km.

As an illustration, a 40 km feeder route costs ₹9,60,000 for the standard survey and ₹12,80,000 with an L-section. A 120 km order grouping several Panchmahal routes falls in the 25% slab, so the standard survey works out to ₹18 per metre, or ₹21,60,000. Anything beyond the field survey – mobilisation, night shifts, traffic arrangements and permissions, CAD/GIS drawing sets – is priced as its own item. The GPR survey price list has more examples.

What is handed over at the end of the survey?

  • Painted marks along the route, coloured by utility, with approximate depths.
  • A signed report on coverage, depth achieved by section, conflicts with the planned alignment and stretches that could not be scanned.
  • Individual crossing records for the railway, roads, culverts and drains.
  • A depth profile where an L-section survey in Godhra was ordered; CAD/GIS drawing sets on request at extra cost.

STEP 1

Route and voltage shared

Send the planned feeder path, its length, voltage level and any substation or pillar points the cable will connect to.

STEP 2

Programme agreed in writing

The quote sets out field days, night-only stretches, the per-metre rate and any separately charged items such as mobilisation.

STEP 3

Surface clues collected

The crew notes pillars, RMUs, chambers and cable markers along the route before the radar and locator passes begin.

STEP 4

Radar and locator passes

Lines are scanned across and along the route, and conductive cables are confirmed by passive or active electromagnetic tracing.

STEP 5

Conflicts reported clearly

Marks go on the ground and the report lists every conflict with the alignment, so the design can be adjusted early.

FAQ

Questions about cable route surveys in Godhra

Do you survey HT cable routes leaving a substation?

Yes. Substation exits are often the most crowded part of a route, with several outgoing cables and earthing conductors leaving together. The crew places scan lines closer in that area and uses electromagnetic tracing to separate individual cables where possible. Work inside the substation boundary needs the owner's permission, arranged through your team.

Can you trace one specific LT cable among several?

Often, yes. If the cable owner permits a signal to be connected at a pillar, joint or termination, active electromagnetic tracing follows that particular cable along the route. Without such access, radar and passive locating still show where cables run, but identifying which one is which is less certain.

How wide a corridor does the survey cover?

That depends on your scope. If the alignment is fixed, we scan along it with enough width to catch services close to the trench or bore. If the alignment may still move, tell us the corridor width you want covered so the scan plan and the quote reflect it.

What if the cable route changes after the survey?

Stretches already surveyed remain valid for that ground. New stretches on a revised route need to be scanned and are billed per metre at the same rate. Sharing the final alignment before the survey starts avoids this and keeps the record in one piece.

Is travel from Faridabad included in the rate?

No. Mobilisation of the crew and equipment is quoted as a separate item, as are night-shift working, traffic arrangements or permissions and CAD/GIS drawing sets. The per-metre rate covers the field survey, ground marking and report.

Can Godhra be combined with Halol or Dahod routes?

Yes. Several routes in Panchmahal and Dahod can go into one order with one mobilisation. The combined length counts towards the whole-order discount slabs, so a group of routes adding up to more than 100 km gets 25% off every metre.
