Underground utility mapping in Gandhinagar builds one record of the cables, pipes and ducts below a sector, campus or corridor, using GPR and EM locating. Mezux Touch marks every find, reports position, approximate depth and detection method, and bills ₹24 per scanned metre (4 km and ₹1,00,000 minimum, GST extra). CAD/GIS sets are quoted separately.

What does underground utility mapping in Gandhinagar give you?
A route survey answers one narrow question: is the line of a new trench clear? Underground utility mapping in Gandhinagar answers a wider one – what lies beneath this whole sector, campus, junction or road reserve, where exactly, and how sure are we about each line. The result is a record that designers, planners and several contractors can share, not just a set of marks for one excavation gang.
On every mapping order you receive:
- paint or peg marks over each detected service, colour-coded by utility type;
- a signed report giving plan position, approximate depth and the method behind every find – radar, EM trace, a visible chamber or a pit;
- a list of patches we could not scan, and the depth radar actually reached in each part of the area.
CAD or GIS drawings can be drafted from that field record too, as an extra item with its own price. For route surveys and the general radar offer across the capital, see the Gandhinagar GPR survey page; the thinking behind our mapping work is set out on the utility mapping service page.
Why do planned sectors still hide unrecorded services?
Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, is one of the few Indian cities drawn on paper before it was built. Numbered residential sectors sit inside a grid of main roads along the Sabarmati, with Gujarati letters naming the roads that run one way and numbers naming those that cross them. Wide verges were set aside for services, and GIFT City, a newer planned district, lies at the city's edge.
A master plan only records the network as first designed. Decades of additions have changed what is actually down there:
- extra power feeders and street-light circuits laid beside the original cables;
- water and drainage connections added as sectors filled up;
- gas distribution pipes brought into residential sectors long after the city was built;
- fibre ducts from several telecom operators, often pushed in by HDD at whatever depth suited that job;
- abandoned lines left in the ground when a service was rerouted.
Ownership is spread out too. Torrent Power holds the electricity licence for the city, UGVCL supplies much of the district around it, civic bodies run water and sewers, and telecom and gas assets belong to their own operators. No single drawing covers all of them, and that is the gap a field map closes. We have no tie-up of any kind with Torrent Power, UGVCL or another DISCOM, and each map is made for, and handed to, the client paying for it.
How is a Gandhinagar sector or campus mapped on the ground?
- Fix the boundary. We agree the exact area – a sector block, a government campus, a circle and its approaches, or a road reserve – and collect whatever service records you can obtain.
- Lay out the grid. Radar lines run along each road and verge, with cross-lines at regular gaps; the regular sector layout lets the grid be set out quickly.
- Trace metallic lines. An EM locator follows conductive cables and metal pipes and helps separate neighbouring lines.
- Tie in surface features. Manholes, valve chambers, feeder pillars, joint pits and marker posts are recorded and linked to the lines below them.
- Close in on hot spots. Circles and busy junctions, where many services meet, get denser lines or a 3D grid.
- Confirm where needed. Trial pits or boreholes at chosen points, on request, prove a depth that radar can only estimate.
Radar reach depends on soil and moisture. Waterlogged clay and salty patches shorten the signal's reach, sandy dry soil lengthens it, and land near the Sabarmati may read differently from a dry verge in a central sector. The report therefore states achieved depth area by area instead of quoting one figure for the city.
Do you offer subsurface utility engineering in Gandhinagar?
Yes, within the limits of what a field survey can prove. Subsurface utility engineering in Gandhinagar, as we apply it, grades every mapped line by the evidence behind it, so a designer can decide how much weight each one deserves:
- Record only – shown on an owner's drawing but not found in the field;
- Surface evidence – inferred from chambers, covers or pillars;
- Detected – located by radar or EM, with position fixed and depth estimated;
- Exposed – seen in a trial pit, with depth and type confirmed.
Lines that no owner claims are still drawn and flagged as unidentified. Our SUE survey page explains how these grades feed into design and tender documents.
Can you work as a GIS utility mapping agency in Gandhinagar?
We are a field survey company first, and that is where the value of any map is decided. When a client wants a GIS utility mapping agency in Gandhinagar, we build the layers from our own field data, so the crew that scanned the ground stands behind the file. Typical outputs, ordered on request:
- underground utility CAD drawings for Gandhinagar sites – DWG or DXF plans with one layer per service type and approximate depth noted;
- GIS layers in SHP or KML, with service type and detection method held as attributes;
- PDF sheets for circulation to site teams and approving officers.
Drafting is never folded into the survey rate; each drawing set gets its own quote, because layer standards and sheet content differ between clients. Send your template with the enquiry. Formats and checks are covered on our CAD/GIS utility mapping page.
When are 3D utility mapping services in Gandhinagar worth the extra effort?
Plain 2D radar lines map most sector roads well. 3D utility mapping services in Gandhinagar, where data is gathered on a tight grid to build a block view of the ground, make sense in a few places:
- large circles at road intersections, where services from all four arms converge;
- government and institutional campuses being extended or re-landscaped;
- links between GIFT City's planned network and older lines outside it;
- any spot where a 2D pass showed a confusing cluster that needs resolving.
We tell you before quoting whether 3D is justified; usually only a handful of junctions need it. The trade-offs are compared in our article on 3D versus 2D GPR survey.
What do smart city and corridor mapping in Gandhinagar involve?
Two larger scopes come up in the capital. Smart city underground mapping in Gandhinagar usually means building a digital record of buried services across several sectors at once, so that later road, drainage and cabling works start from known ground. Utility corridor mapping in Gandhinagar covers a full road width – both verges, the carriageway and the median – along a stretch due for widening, a new transit corridor or a trunk cable.
Both are scanned the same way as a smaller job, only over more ground, and both can be split into phases so data reaches designers sector by sector. Scope details are on our smart city underground mapping and utility corridor mapping pages.
How much does utility mapping in Gandhinagar cost?
Mapping is charged on the total length of radar lines needed to cover your area: ₹24 a metre for standard mapping, or ₹32 a metre where you also need an L-section, giving a depth profile of what was found along an alignment. Anything shorter than 4 km of lines is charged as 4 km, and a Gandhinagar project – being beyond Delhi NCR – carries a floor of ₹1,00,000. GST comes on top.
| Example area | Radar lines needed | Before GST |
|---|---|---|
| Single campus or plot | 2 km, billed as 4 km | ₹1,00,000 (₹96,000 raised to the project minimum) |
| One residential sector | 9 km | ₹2,16,000 |
| Road reserve due for widening | 30 km | ₹7,20,000 |
| Multi-sector programme | 150 km, 25% off every metre | ₹27,00,000 |
Discount slabs apply to the whole order: 25% beyond 100 km, 40% beyond 500 km and 50% beyond 1,000 km. Travel of crews and systems from Faridabad, after-dark shifts, traffic and permit arrangements, and CAD/GIS drafting each appear as separate quote items. Every slab is listed on the GPR survey price list.

Questions about utility mapping in Gandhinagar
Can you map services inside the Secretariat area or other government campuses?
Yes, once the campus authority grants access and any security passes are issued. Campuses are covered on a grid that takes in internal roads, lawns and building surrounds, and the report names any zone we were kept out of. Obtaining those permissions is the client's task, and if security rules limit working hours the programme is planned around them.
Do GIFT City's records make a survey unnecessary there?
Not entirely. Newer districts usually hold better as-built drawings, so work there is often a check of those drawings against the ground plus a trace of every connection that leaves the planned network. Each difference between record and field is listed separately, which is exactly what a designer needs before tying new services in.
How long does mapping one sector take?
That depends on line length, traffic and access. Open sector roads scan quickly, while circles, parked vehicles and locked campus gates slow the crew down. We share a field programme with the quote once we have seen the area plan. On open corridors our crews have reached 100 km in a day, yet a crowded residential sector is nowhere near that pace.
Do you map storm drains, culverts and chambers as well?
Yes. Storm drains, culverts, manholes and valve chambers belong in the record because they anchor the buried lines and often explain why a cable or pipe bends. Covers we can lift are noted with what was seen inside; sealed or buried covers are listed as such so nobody assumes they were checked.
Can the map be extended when more sectors are added later?
Yes. Later areas can be scanned to the same layer scheme and joined to the first record, leaving the client with one continuous dataset rather than separate files. Each phase is billed on its own line length, unless the phases are placed together as one order, in which case the discount slab applies to the combined total.
Who receives the finished utility map?
Only the client who commissions it. The report and any drawing set go to you; we do not pass the data to a DISCOM, a civic body or another contractor unless you ask us to. Many clients choose to share it with every contractor working in the area, and that is how a map earns its keep.
