Quick answer

An electric cable route GPR survey in Gandhinagar covers the whole path of a proposed HT or LT cable, finding existing power lines, pipes and ducts and noting where each crosses or runs alongside. Our charge is ₹24 a metre, or ₹32 when an L-section is added, subject to a 4 km and ₹1,00,000 project minimum, plus GST.

Near marked conflicts the cable crew switches from machine to careful hand digging.

What is an electric cable route GPR survey in Gandhinagar?

It is a survey of one specific path: the alignment chosen for your new feeder or service cable. Before the cable contractor trenches or bores, an electric cable route GPR survey in Gandhinagar finds every existing service along that path and at each point where it crosses a road, a drain or another cable.

The focus differs from a general site scan. We care most about:

  • existing power cables that the new line will run beside or cross;
  • water, sewer and gas pipes sharing the same verge;
  • telecom cables and fibre ducts near the surface;
  • chambers, joint bays and earthing that narrow the space available.

The work is done by our own crews with company-owned radar, travelling from Faridabad. Our service page for HT/LT cable route GPR survey explains the method in general; the wider picture for the city is on the Gandhinagar GPR survey page.

Where do new feeders run into conflicts across Gandhinagar?

A planned capital does not mean an empty verge. Cable contractors working on the sector grid usually face the same handful of pinch points:

  • Main-road junctions. Where the grid roads meet, services from four directions converge, so a single crossing may pass over or under several lines.
  • Substation exits. Outgoing feeders, control cables and earthing bunch together for the first stretch outside a yard.
  • Shared verges. Water mains and sewers were laid along the same green strips meant for cables, and later fibre ducts squeezed in between.
  • Links towards GIFT City. Connections into a newer district join a recorded modern network to older lines whose records are thinner.
  • Edges of the city. Within city limits the licensee is Torrent Power; out in much of the district, UGVCL is the supplier. A cable heading outwards can therefore meet assets of both. We identify the cables in the ground; your documents confirm whose they are.
  • Near the Sabarmati. Wetter ground, embankments and bridge approaches make detection and crossing design harder.

We are an independent survey firm, not affiliated with either supplier or with any DISCOM.

How is underground electrical line tracing in Gandhinagar done?

Two tools work together, because no single method sees everything.

Electromagnetic locating

A live cable carries current that produces a field above it. In passive mode the locator picks up that field and follows the line, so energised feeders can be traced without being switched off. Where a dead or isolated cable is accessible, a transmitter can put a signal on it, with the owner's permission, so it can be followed as well.

Ground penetrating radar

Radar picks up objects of any material, so it finds plastic pipes and ducts that EM cannot. It also gives an approximate depth for each crossing and shows where several services sit close together. Its useful depth shifts with the soil and how wet it is, which is why reach is reported stretch by stretch.

Using both, underground electrical line tracing in Gandhinagar produces a fuller record than either alone. The physics is explained further in how GPR traces HT and LT cables.

What does HT cable route mapping in Gandhinagar give the contractor?

The output is built around the decisions a cabling team has to make:

  1. Ground marks along the alignment, painted in the colour of each utility, with an estimated depth noted next to it.
  2. A conflict list giving every location where the new cable crosses or runs close to an existing service, so the trench depth or route can be adjusted early.
  3. Crossing notes for junctions and drains, showing which ones look clear for open trench and which may suit a bored crossing. If HDD is planned, our HDD route survey scans the bore path and pit areas in more detail.
  4. A signed report covering coverage, achieved depth and any stretch we could not reach.

When the contract specifies depths of crossing services along the whole route, the survey is upgraded to an L-section; see our L-section survey in Gandhinagar. CAD or GIS drawing sets can be supplied too, priced separately from the survey.

How is a Gandhinagar cable route survey priced?

Billing is by route length. A standard survey is charged at ₹24 a metre; adding the L-section depth profile takes it to ₹32 a metre. The minimum billed length is 4 km, and because the capital is beyond Delhi NCR, ₹1,00,000 is the smallest project invoice. GST comes on top.

Longer cabling programmes are discounted on the whole order, in steps of 25% for orders over 100 km, 40% for over 500 km and 50% for over 1,000 km. Travel and set-up, night shifts, traffic or permit costs and any drawing set sit outside these sums. The rate card is on our price list page.

TIP 1

Freeze the alignment

Send the final route rather than an early sketch, so the scan covers the line your cable will actually follow.

TIP 2

List every crossing

Mark grid-road junctions, drains and substation exits on the drawing so the crew can scan them more closely.

TIP 3

Share network records

Existing feeder and service drawings, even incomplete ones, tell us where to expect lines and where records disagree.

TIP 4

Flag planned bores

If some crossings will be drilled, say so early, and each drill line with its launch and reception pits gets a closer scan.

TIP 5

Dig soon after

Plan trenching shortly after the survey, while marks are fresh and before other works change the verge.

Pay only for route length

The charge follows the metres of alignment scanned, ₹24 each, so a 7 km feeder costs ₹1,68,000 before GST.

L-section on chosen stretches

Order the ₹32 depth profile only where your work order calls for it and keep the remaining length standard.

Club several feeders together

Grouping all the cable routes of a project into one order shares mobilisation and lifts the total towards a discount.

Whole-order slab discounts

Programmes over 100 km get 25% off each metre, over 500 km 40%, and over 1,000 km half the rate.

No shutdown cost

Live feeders are traced in passive EM mode, so your survey does not depend on arranging an outage.

Night shifts, traffic arrangements, mobilisation and CAD/GIS sets are shown individually in the quote, so nothing surprises you.

FAQ

Questions about cable route surveys in Gandhinagar

Can the survey tell HT cables from LT cables?

Not always with certainty from the surface. Depth, size, the strength of the EM signal and where a line leads, such as a substation or a distribution pillar, give strong clues, and we record them. Where design hinges on it, opening a trial pit at the spot settles the question.

Must any live feeder be isolated for the survey?

No. Radar and passive EM locating both work with cables energised, so existing feeders stay in service. Isolation only comes into the picture if a dead cable needs an active signal applied, and that is arranged with the cable owner.

Can you scan the area just outside a substation?

Yes, where the owner gives access. The first stretch outside a substation is usually crowded with outgoing feeders, control cables and earthing, so we scan it with closer line spacing and list each detected run separately in the report.

Can the trench route and the HDD crossings be surveyed in one visit?

Yes. The crew scans the open-trench lengths and then gives each planned bore its own closer scan, covering the drill line plus the ground around the launch and receiving pits. Both parts appear in the same report, and the whole length counts towards the order total.

Will you use existing network drawings from the cable owner?

We welcome them. Drawings show where to expect lines and help us label what we find. We do not rely on them, though: the survey records what is actually detected, and differences between drawings and ground are noted in the report.

Are you an empanelled agency for Torrent Power or UGVCL?

No. Mezux Touch holds no empanelment, approval or tie-up with Torrent Power, UGVCL or any DISCOM. We survey for the contractor or consultant who places the order, and the report is issued to that client.
