The report notes radar reach for every stretch, town and rural alike.

Why hire a GPR survey company in Surendranagar before digging?

Excavating blind along an occupied road is how cables get cut and water mains burst. Hiring a GPR survey company in Surendranagar before the first pit is dug gives your team a map of what lies under the surface, so the alignment can be fixed around existing services rather than through them.

Radar finds objects of any material by their echo, which matters because most new water and gas pipes are plastic. Electromagnetic locating adds certainty on metal cables and pipes by following the signal they carry. Together they produce a ground-marked route and a written record that excavation, trenching and drilling crews can work from.

The two methods compared side by side are explained in our article on EM cable locators versus GPR.

What is buried under Surendranagar and Wadhwan streets?

Surendranagar is the district headquarters and grew alongside its twin town, Wadhwan. Where two towns have spread towards each other, each with its own older core, utility networks were extended piece by piece, and records are often split between owners and periods.

ServiceWhat radar and EM usually show
PowerHT and LT cables, street-light circuits, earthing; traced well by EM when loaded
WaterMains and house connections; plastic lines found by radar alone
DrainageSewers, storm drains, culverts and chambers
TelecomCopper cables and HDPE fibre ducts along main roads
UnknownsAbandoned pipes and cables still present in the ground

On a ground penetrating radar survey that Surendranagar contractors commission, the crew checks each of these against chambers, poles and valve boxes visible on the surface, since a find that lines up with a fitting is easier to identify.

How are corridor routes along the Ahmedabad–Rajkot road handled?

Surendranagar sits on the main route between Ahmedabad and Rajkot, and the railway between the two cities also passes through it. Long cable, pipeline and fibre jobs in the district therefore tend to run beside highways or cross railway land.

  • Continuous lines along the verge pick up services running parallel to the road.
  • Cross-lines at regular intervals and at every chamber or marker post catch services crossing the alignment.
  • Closer grids at junctions deal with the places where several owners' lines meet.
  • Railway crossings are scanned along the planned bore path and pit areas, subject to whatever access the railway grants the project owner.

Where a crossing will be bored, our HDD route survey covers the bore corridor. Fibre projects along the highway can be planned as an OFC route GPR survey.

Does the Little Rann's saline ground limit radar?

Parts of Surendranagar district border the Little Rann, where salt pans are worked. Saline soil conducts electricity, and conductive ground absorbs radar energy quickly. Near those areas, expect radar to see less deep than it would on dry, non-saline land.

That does not stop a survey, but it changes how it is run:

  1. EM locating carries more of the load for metal cables and pipes, because it is far less affected by salt.
  2. Shallow services remain visible on radar and are recorded as normal.
  3. Stretches where depth reach is poor are flagged in the report, and trial pits can be added on request at critical crossings.

In the towns and on dry ground away from the Rann, conditions are usually more favourable. Wet clay after rain reduces reach anywhere. Our report gives the depth actually achieved section by section, not a single headline figure.

Standard survey or L-section for a Surendranagar job?

A standard route survey records where each service lies and roughly how deep, then marks it on the ground. It suits most cable laying, water and drainage work.

An L-section survey adds a depth profile of the detected services along the route. Choose it when a work order or design consultant specifies one, typically on DISCOM cabling or long pipelines. Our L-section service page has more detail on what is recorded. Cable-specific scopes are covered under the HT/LT cable route survey.

Power distribution in Surendranagar falls under PGVCL, the state distribution company for Saurashtra and Kutch, with its head office in Rajkot. Mezux Touch is independent of PGVCL and every other DISCOM; we are engaged by contractors and project owners, not by the utility.

How much does a GPR survey in Surendranagar cost?

Pricing runs per metre surveyed: ₹24 for a standard survey, ₹32 for the L-section version. Any order below 4 km is charged as 4 km. Projects outside Delhi NCR carry a ₹1,00,000 floor, which applies here. GST comes on top.

RouteTypeAmount, GST extra
2 km colony roadStandard₹1,00,000 (billed 4 km at ₹96,000, lifted to the floor)
9 km feeder cable routeStandard₹2,16,000
5 km route with depth profileL-section₹1,60,000
150 km highway fibre routeStandard, 25% off₹27,00,000

Once an order passes 100 km, every metre drops by 25%; past 500 km the cut is 40%, and past 1,000 km it is 50%. Separate charges cover mobilisation, night-shift work, traffic arrangements or permissions, and any CAD/GIS drawing set. See the price list for the full slab table.

How do our crews get to Surendranagar?

All equipment and staff travel from the Faridabad base. Mezux Touch owns 58 GPR systems and 18 HDD rigs and works only with in-house crews – no hired machines and no sub-letting. Across 1.5 lakh+ km of GPR survey in 28+ States and UTs, long journeys to project sites have become routine.

The district's position between two large cities makes grouping easy. Work in Ahmedabad, Rajkot or Morbi can be scheduled on the same trip. Other towns are listed on our Gujarat survey page.

For a price, phone +91 99100 10209 or mail kumar@mezux.in with the route length, a KML or drawing, the service being laid and your target dates. GPR scanning services in Surendranagar are then quoted with mobilisation shown as its own line.

TIP 1

Give chainage, not landmarks

A KML or chainage list for the highway corridor lets the crew log each find against a fixed position.

TIP 2

Flag saline stretches

Tell us if the route nears the Little Rann, so EM locating and extra checks are planned for those sections.

TIP 3

List rail crossings early

Railway land needs the project owner's permission, so crossings should be known before the programme is fixed.

TIP 4

Combine nearby routes

Adding Ahmedabad, Rajkot or Morbi lengths to the order can cross the 100 km slab and share mobilisation.

TIP 5

Avoid just-after-rain scans

Wet clay cuts radar reach, so deep or critical stretches should wait until the ground has dried out.

FAQ

Questions about GPR survey in Surendranagar

Do you cover Wadhwan as well as Surendranagar?

Yes. The twin towns are treated as one service area, and a route that runs through both is billed as a single length. Stretches elsewhere in the district, such as along the highway or towards the Little Rann, can be added to the same order.

Can you scan beside the Ahmedabad–Rajkot railway line?

Yes, where the project owner has obtained the railway's permission for us to work on or beside its land. We then scan the permitted strip and the planned crossing, including bore pits for HDD. Working windows are set by the railway, and the programme follows them.

Will saline ground make the survey useless?

No. Salt reduces how deep radar can see, but shallow services still show, and EM locating continues to trace metal cables and pipes. The report flags low-reach sections clearly so designers can add trial pits where an exact depth is needed.

Are you an approved vendor of PGVCL?

No. Mezux Touch holds no order, approval or empanelment from PGVCL or any DISCOM and is not affiliated with them. Contractors carrying out utility work engage us directly for the survey, and we report to them.

Do you work night shifts on busy roads?

We can, where the road authority or client prefers work at night to avoid traffic. Night-shift working is quoted as a separate item and is not part of the per-metre survey rate. Traffic arrangements, if required, are priced separately as well.

Can you find an old cable that is not on any drawing?

Often, yes. Radar shows buried objects whether or not they appear in records, and a loaded cable can be picked up by passive EM sweeps. An abandoned, dead cable gives no EM signal, so radar is what finds it, and the report lists it as an unidentified service.
