Underground utility mapping in Bengaluru records the power cables, water and sewer lines, drains and telecom ducts beneath a site or road corridor, detected with GPR and EM locating, marked on site and set out in a signed findings report. Each metre of scan line costs ₹24, or ₹32 with an L-section, from 4 km and ₹1,00,000, plus GST.

What is underground utility mapping in Bengaluru used for?
A route survey looks at one line. Underground utility mapping in Bengaluru looks at an area or a full road width and tries to record everything buried in it. Clients usually order it when a design must work around existing services rather than just past them:
- Tech park and campus expansion – new blocks, parking structures and internal roads planned over existing power, water and fibre networks;
- Road widening and streetscape works – where the civic body or a contractor needs to know which services will end up under the new carriageway;
- Plot redevelopment – older buildings replaced on sites where incoming connections and abandoned lines are poorly recorded;
- Metro-side and junction redesign – stretches near Namma Metro alignments, where services may have been diverted during construction.
Our utility mapping service page explains the approach in general. This page covers what it involves in Bengaluru. We hold no affiliation with BWSSB, BESCOM or BMRCL, nor with the civic body or a development authority.
How does subsurface utility engineering in Bengaluru grade each line?
Not every line on a utility map is equally certain, and a useful map says so. Subsurface utility engineering in Bengaluru sorts information by how it was obtained:
- Records only – a service shown on a drawing supplied by an owner but not detected on site.
- Surface evidence – chambers, valve covers, feeder pillars and markers that show a network is present below.
- Detected – a line located by GPR, EM or both, with position and approximate depth.
- Verified – a line exposed in a trial pit, so its depth and material are seen directly.
Each feature on our findings list carries its grade, so the designer knows which ones can be relied on and which need checking. Trial pits for verification are dug only on request. More on the method is on our SUE survey page.
Which methods go into a Bengaluru utility map?
- 2D GPR lines across the site or corridor on a planned grid, the backbone of most maps.
- 3D or high-resolution radar in small, crowded areas such as junctions, plant rooms and building entries, where many services cross each other.
- EM locating of power cables, armoured telecom cables and metal pipes, using live signals or an applied one.
- Surface feature pick-up of covers, pillars and markers, tied into the grid so buried and visible features line up.
3D utility mapping services in Bengaluru are worth the extra scan lines where 2D passes leave too many crossing reflections to separate; on an open plot, 2D lines usually suffice.
Utility corridor mapping in Bengaluru: how is a whole road recorded?
Arterial roads in the city carry dense ducting on both margins, with power cables, water mains and sewers interleaved. Utility corridor mapping in Bengaluru covers the full road width, kerb to kerb and beyond to the property line where needed, rather than a single route. Longitudinal lines run along each margin and the carriageway; cross-lines are placed at regular spacing and at every junction, chamber and cover.
This is the kind of record smart city underground mapping in Bengaluru relies on when roads, footpaths and drains are rebuilt together. Our utility corridor mapping and smart city underground mapping pages describe the general approach.
Do you provide GIS and underground utility CAD drawing services in Bengaluru?
Yes, as an added item. Every mapping job ends with detected services marked on site and a signed report in which each feature carries a location, an estimated depth, the method that found it and its grade. Clients who also want underground utility CAD drawing services in Bengaluru, or a GIS layer set for an asset database, can order them separately; they are not included in the per-metre survey rate.
If you are looking for a GIS utility mapping agency in Bengaluru to deliver layers in a set format, tell us the layer scheme and file types at the enquiry stage so the drawing work is quoted alongside the survey. Details are on our CAD/GIS utility mapping page.
What can stop a service from appearing on the map?
A map is only as complete as the ground and access allow. Common limits in Bengaluru are:
- iron-rich lateritic soil and wet ground, which weaken the radar signal;
- granite boulders and fill, which return echoes that can mask or mimic services;
- small plastic pipes at depth, which give faint reflections;
- parked vehicles, stored material or locked areas that block the scan.
The report states the depth radar reached on each part of the site and lists areas left unscanned, so gaps are visible instead of hidden.
How is utility mapping in Bengaluru priced?
The bill follows how many metres of scan line the grid for your area adds up to: ₹24 a metre standard, ₹32 a metre with an L-section. The 4 km minimum applies, and because Bengaluru is outside Delhi NCR, a project is not billed below ₹1,00,000. GST is added.
| Mapping job | Scan lines | Before GST |
|---|---|---|
| Small plot | 1.5 km (billed as 4 km = ₹96,000) | ₹1,00,000 project minimum |
| Campus grid | 9 km | ₹2,16,000 |
| 2 km road corridor, full width | 12 km | ₹2,88,000 |
Orders past 100 km, 500 km and 1,000 km of scan line get 25%, 40% and 50% off every metre. Getting the crew from Faridabad, work at night, traffic or permit arrangements and CAD/GIS drawing sets are each billed on their own. See the GPR survey price list; route surveys and other jobs across the city are listed on our Bengaluru GPR survey page.

Get Underground Utility Mapping in Bengaluru at Best Prices
Priced on scan length
You pay ₹24 per metre of scan line, so the quote reflects the grid your site actually needs and nothing more.
3D only where it helps
High-resolution 3D passes are kept to junctions, plant rooms and crowded entries, keeping the total scan length down.
Drawings as an option
Order CAD or GIS sets only if your design team needs them; the marked ground and signed report come as standard.
Sites and corridors together
Map a campus and its approach roads in one Bengaluru order to share mobilisation and push the total towards a slab.
Large programmes discounted
Once scan lines in one order pass 100 km, each metre is a quarter cheaper, with deeper cuts of 40% and 50% further up.
Pits only where needed
Trial pits are proposed only at the few points where a depth or identity must be proved, not across the site.

Questions about underground utility mapping in Bengaluru
Can an occupied tech park be mapped while staff are working?
Yes. Radar carts are quiet and do not need digging, so most of a campus can be scanned during normal use, with parking areas and busy entries covered at agreed quieter hours. Access and induction are arranged with the facility team before the crew arrives.
Will the map show whether a pipe carries water or sewage?
Not always from radar alone. Position, depth, size and connection to visible chambers or valves usually indicate the service type, and the report states how each identification was made. Where it remains unclear, the line is listed as an unidentified pipe.
What if a service on our old drawings is not detected?
The report lists it as records-only and notes that it was not found. It may have been removed, may lie beyond radar reach in that ground, or may have been drawn in the wrong place. A trial pit can settle the question where it matters.
Can mapping be ordered for a single building plot?
Yes. A plot is scanned on a grid to find incoming connections, old services and anything crossing the site before foundations or new connections are planned. Small plots usually fall under the 4 km and ₹1,00,000 minimums, which the quote shows.
Can CAD or GIS layers be added after the survey?
Yes, as long as the scan covered what the drawings need to show. The sets are drawn from the findings already recorded and priced on their own, whenever you place that order. Telling us the layer scheme early avoids rework.
Does mapping damage lawns, paving or road surfaces?
No. GPR and EM locating are non-destructive and work from the surface. Ground marks use paint or pegs, which can be kept off finished surfaces on request. Only trial pits, when ordered, involve digging, and their reinstatement is agreed beforehand.
