Quick answer

Underground utility mapping in Lucknow records every buried service found in a street, corridor or site – power, water, sewer, drainage and telecom – with position, approximate depth and confidence, using GPR and EM locating. Survey is ₹24 per metre of scan line, ₹32 with L-section, from 4 km and ₹1,00,000 per project; drawings and GST are extra.

Rates and page checked:

Stacked map layers separating cables, water pipes, drains and ducts
Each service owner's lines are kept on a separate layer of the Lucknow record.
Mezux survey team with radar carts and safety equipment on site
Our in-house team collects the radar and EM data behind every mapped line.
Engineering drawing showing buried utility lines with depth labels
CAD drawing sets can be prepared from the survey and are quoted separately.
Radar scan image showing curved reflections from buried pipes
Each reflection in the radargram is checked before it becomes a line on the record.

What is underground utility mapping in Lucknow, and when should you order it?

A route survey answers one question: is the path for my new cable or pipe clear? Underground utility mapping in Lucknow answers a broader one: what is under this whole area, and who does it belong to? It is ordered before design work that will disturb a street or site from edge to edge, such as:

  • road widening, resurfacing to a new level or footpath rebuilding;
  • drainage and sewer schemes that cut across many existing services;
  • new buildings, basements or large extensions on institutional campuses;
  • utility shifting ahead of a flyover, underpass or other civic structure.

The work combines ground penetrating radar for every type of service with electromagnetic locating for conductive lines, and the result is one record showing each find with its position, approximate depth and confidence. Our utility mapping service page sets out the method in general; this page covers how it is applied in Lucknow.

Which parts of a Lucknow scheme need the closest mapping?

Not every metre of a mapping area is equally crowded. On Lucknow schemes the scan density is raised where services pile up or records are weakest:

  • Junctions on arterial roads, where water mains, power feeders and several telecom networks cross and change depth.
  • Roads alongside the Lucknow Metro, because services moved during metro construction may not appear where older drawings show them.
  • Land near the Gomti, where drains and outfalls run towards the river and wetter ground lowers radar reach.
  • Government and institutional campuses, with internal networks added building by building over many years.

Elsewhere, wider line spacing is enough to pick up continuous services. The spacing used in each zone is stated in the record, so a reader can tell how closely any part of the area was examined.

Subsurface utility engineering in Lucknow: how is confidence shown for each line?

A map of buried services is only useful if it says how sure it is. Subsurface utility engineering in Lucknow, as we practise it, grades every line on the record by the evidence behind it:

  1. From records only – shown on an owner's drawing but not detected by us; plotted separately and clearly labelled.
  2. Detected by one method – seen by radar or traced by EM, with approximate position and depth.
  3. Detected by both methods – radar and EM agree, giving higher confidence in position.
  4. Confirmed by exposure – seen in a trial pit or borehole, which we can dig on request where a depth decides the design.

The record also lists every no-access area. A blank on a utility map should never be read as empty ground, and our report makes sure it is not. More on this approach is on our SUE survey page.

When are 3D utility mapping services in Lucknow worth the extra effort?

Standard mapping uses 2D radar lines along and across the area. For most streets that is enough. 3D utility mapping services in Lucknow use a dense, high-resolution radar grid instead, from which plan views at different depths can be produced. That helps in a few situations:

  • complex junctions where many services cross at different depths;
  • launch and exit pit areas for large HDD bores, including Gomti crossings;
  • basement and foundation footprints on a campus or plot;
  • sites where an earlier 2D scan showed confusing or overlapping responses.

A 3D grid takes far more crew time per square metre, so we suggest it only where the extra detail will change a design decision. Ground still limits the result: wet clay reduces reach in 3D just as in 2D.

How does utility corridor mapping in Lucknow handle long routes?

For a road-widening or drainage scheme stretching several kilometres, utility corridor mapping in Lucknow covers the full road width, or the width the design will affect, in continuous sections. Each section is tied to fixed references such as kilometre markers, junction corners or building lines, so it can be read against the design drawings later.

Long corridors are where our fleet size helps. With 58 company-owned GPR systems, more than one crew can work separate sections of the same corridor in parallel when the programme demands it. Details of corridor work are on our utility corridor mapping page.

What does a GIS utility mapping agency in Lucknow deliver, and what is extra?

Every mapping job comes with ground marking of the services found and a signed report listing each line, its approximate depth, confidence grade and detection method, plus depth reach by section and the no-access areas.

Many Lucknow clients also need the findings in a drawing or database. Underground utility CAD drawing services in Lucknow and GIS layers from us are available on request, with each service owner on its own layer – but they are not part of the survey rate and are quoted separately. Tell us the format and layer convention at the enquiry stage. Our CAD/GIS utility mapping page describes the options.

Mezux Touch is not affiliated with Lucknow Municipal Corporation, MVVNL / LESA, the metro corporation or any development authority, and a GIS utility mapping agency in Lucknow working for a private client has no say over how those bodies keep their own records.

How is utility mapping in Lucknow priced?

Mapping follows our standard rate card, applied to the length of scan lines needed to cover the area: ₹24 per metre for the standard survey and ₹32 per metre with an L-section. Lucknow is beyond Delhi NCR, so the minimum billing is 4 km per order and ₹1,00,000 per project. GST is extra.

Mapping jobBasisBefore GST
5 km of scan lines, one street₹24/m₹1,20,000
40 km of lines, drainage scheme₹24/m₹9,60,000
40 km of lines with depth profile₹32/m₹12,80,000
1,100 km state-wide mapping programme₹24/m less 50%₹1,32,00,000

Large programmes move into slabs that cut the rate on every metre: 25% past 100 km, 40% past 500 km and 50% past 1,000 km. On top of the scan, separate prices cover getting the crew to Lucknow, any after-dark shifts, traffic control and permits, and drawing sets in CAD or GIS. The price list has the calculator, and other Lucknow survey types are on our GPR survey in Lucknow page.

STEP 1

Define the mapping area

Send the boundary of the street, corridor or site, plus the design work it will support and any fixed references.

STEP 2

Collect existing records

Share whatever drawings the service owners have given you; they are plotted separately and checked against the scan.

STEP 3

Scan the grid

Radar lines and EM tracing cover the area, with closer spacing at junctions, metro-side roads and riverside land.

STEP 4

Grade each line

Every service is graded by evidence: records only, one method, both methods, or confirmed in a trial pit.

STEP 5

Issue the record

Ground marks and a signed report follow, and CAD or GIS sets are prepared if ordered as a separate item.

FAQ

Questions about utility mapping in Lucknow

How is mapping different from a route survey?

A route survey checks a narrow strip for one new cable, pipe or duct. Mapping records everything under a wider area, such as the full width of a road or a whole campus, and grades each line by confidence. It suits design work that will disturb the whole area.

Can you check old drawings against what is actually buried?

Yes. Records you share are plotted as their own layer, then compared with what radar and EM find. Lines that match, lines in a different place and lines not found at all are each shown, so the gaps in the old drawings become clear.

Do you map inside government or institutional campuses?

Yes, once the campus owner gives access. Internal networks on large campuses are often poorly recorded because they grew building by building. We scan roads, open areas and building surrounds, and list any locked or restricted zone as no-access.

Will the map show which department owns each line?

Where the evidence allows – service type, chamber covers, marker posts, records – each line is attributed to a likely owner. Many cannot be attributed with certainty, and those are marked on the record as unidentified rather than guessed at.

Is the CAD drawing part of the mapping price?

No. The survey rate covers scanning, ground marking and the signed report. Any CAD set or GIS layer is produced only when you ask for it, and its price depends on the format and layer naming your client wants.

Can mapping data be updated after new works?

Yes. A later survey can be ordered for the changed stretch and its findings added to the record. Because CAD/GIS sets are separate items, revising them is quoted alongside that new survey of the stretch.
