Quick answer

A telecom cable route survey in Lucknow uses GPR and EM locating to find space for a new fibre duct: it records existing cables, pipes, drains and ducts along the planned offset and every HDD crossing. Pricing is ₹24 a metre (₹32 with L-section), billed from 4 km, with a ₹1,00,000 project minimum and GST added.

What does a telecom cable route survey in Lucknow involve?

Fibre is usually laid in a duct at a fixed offset from the road edge, by open trench on easy stretches and by horizontal directional drilling at crossings and busy frontages. A telecom cable route survey in Lucknow scans that offset and each bore line, so the operator or contractor knows where the duct will sit clear of existing services and where it will not.

The work has four parts:

  1. Radar lines along the planned duct offset, with cross-lines at regular gaps.
  2. EM tracing of conductive services – power cables, metal pipes and older copper telecom cables.
  3. Separate scans along each HDD bore and over its entry and exit pit areas.
  4. Marking of every find on the ground and a signed report covering depth reach and no-access stretches.

The general method is on our OFC route GPR survey page; what follows applies it to fibre work in this city.

Why is road-edge space tight for fibre in Lucknow?

On most main roads the verge and footpath were claimed long ago. The local power distribution network, water supply lines, storm drains and sewer connections all compete for that strip, and every operator that has laid fibre before you has added ducts of its own. Some of those ducts are live, some empty and some abandoned.

Three situations come up repeatedly on Lucknow fibre routes:

  • Shared offsets. An operator's preferred offset is already taken by another operator's duct, so the survey looks for a workable alternative a little further in or out.
  • Metro-side corridors. Along the Lucknow Metro alignment, services were relocated during construction, and records may not show where they ended up.
  • Narrow older streets. In the denser central areas the whole width of a lane may hold services, leaving the duct to go above or below them.

A survey before laying turns these into design decisions instead of site surprises.

How is duct feasibility checked along a Lucknow road?

An optical fiber route survey in Lucknow is really a feasibility check: can the duct go where the drawing puts it? We work through each stretch in this order:

  • Choose the scan strip. The planned offset plus a margin each side, wide enough to offer an alternative line if the first one clashes.
  • Scan and trace. Radar for every service type, EM for the conductive ones, with closer lines at chambers, poles, handholes and road junctions.
  • Classify each stretch. Clear, crowded or blocked, so the planner sees at a glance where the duct can go by trench, where it needs a bore and where it should change side of the road.
  • Note the limits. Parked vehicles, stalls or closed gates that stopped scanning are listed, so no gap is mistaken for clear ground.

Radar reach depends on soil and moisture, and the depth actually achieved is stated for each section of the report.

Trenchless utility survey in Lucknow: how are bores under roads, the metro and the Gomti checked?

Most fibre crossings in the city are made by HDD, and a bore is only as safe as the ground knowledge behind it. A trenchless utility survey in Lucknow covers each crossing as its own small job:

  • Road and junction bores – a tight grid along and across the bore line, since services cluster under carriageways.
  • Bores near the metro alignment – scanned only on ground the project owner is permitted to use; access to the metro corridor is decided by the metro corporation, not by us.
  • Gomti crossings – the bore path and both bank pit areas, with a note that wetter riverside soil shortens radar reach there.

We also run our own drilling fleet of 18 HDD rigs, so our survey crews know what a drilling team needs from a scan. That side of our work is described on the HDD services page.

What do HDD route survey services in Lucknow give the drilling crew?

Our HDD route survey services in Lucknow hand the drilling team three things before the rig is set up:

  1. The position and approximate depth of each service crossing the bore line, marked on the ground at both sides of the crossing.
  2. Confirmation that the entry and exit pit areas are clear, or a warning that they are not.
  3. A report stating, for each bore, the depth radar reached and any part of the path that could not be scanned.

With that, the driller can set entry angle and bore depth to pass under or over known services with a safe gap. More detail on bore-line scanning is on our HDD route survey page.

What does a fibre route survey in Lucknow cost?

Fibre routes are charged by length: ₹24 per metre for a standard survey, ₹32 per metre where an L-section is required. Being outside Delhi NCR, a Lucknow order is billed for no less than 4 km, and no project is billed below ₹1,00,000. GST is extra.

Fibre jobRate appliedBefore GST
4 km building-to-exchange link₹24/m, project floor₹1,00,000 (₹96,000 at the metre rate)
25 km city ring₹24/m₹6,00,000
200 km operator rollout₹24/m less 25%₹36,00,000
600 km multi-city backbone₹24/m less 40%₹86,40,000

The discount is applied to the full order once it passes a slab – 25% beyond 100 km, 40% beyond 500 km, 50% beyond 1,000 km. Crew travel and mobilisation, any night work, traffic management and permits, and drawing sets in CAD or GIS form are added as separate quote items. See the GPR survey price list for the calculator.

Who books a telecom infrastructure survey in Lucknow?

Telecom operators, infrastructure providers and OFC laying contractors make up most of the demand, along with system integrators connecting government offices, campuses and towers. A telecom infrastructure survey in Lucknow may cover a single last-mile link or a city ring, and both are priced on the same card.

Road-cutting and HDD permissions come from the body that owns the land, such as Lucknow Municipal Corporation or the development authority, and are arranged by the project owner. Mezux Touch is not affiliated with these bodies, with MVVNL / LESA or with any DISCOM. Other survey types in the city are listed on our Lucknow GPR survey page.

TIP 1

Mark the offset

Show the planned duct offset from the road edge on your drawing so we scan the right strip with a usable margin.

TIP 2

List every bore

Number each HDD crossing on the route file; each one is scanned along its path and at both pit areas.

TIP 3

Share old duct records

Even partial records of your earlier ducts help us separate your network from other operators' lines in the report.

TIP 4

Start permissions early

Road-cutting and metro-side permissions often decide the start date more than crew availability does, so apply in good time.

TIP 5

Combine city links

Group last-mile links and ring routes into one order so the total length reaches a discount slab sooner.

FAQ

Questions about fibre route survey in Lucknow

Can GPR find empty plastic ducts under Lucknow roads?

Usually, yes. An empty duct gives a radar reflection because the air inside contrasts with the soil around it. Small ducts, deep ducts and wet clay make them harder to see, and EM cannot detect plastic unless a tracer wire was laid. Low-confidence finds are flagged in the report.

Can you tell which operator owns a duct?

Not from radar alone, since ducts of different operators look much the same. Visible chambers, marker posts and any records you share help us attribute some of them. Where ownership cannot be established, the report lists the duct as unidentified.

Is a microtrench route surveyed differently?

The scan is similar, but because a microtrench is shallow and narrow, we pay closer attention to shallow services and to the road surface layers along the planned cut. The rate stays the same per metre.

Do you survey fibre routes inside campuses and housing schemes?

Yes. Private roads, institutional campuses and housing schemes are scanned the same way as public roads once the owner allows access. Grid scans are used for building entries and tower sites, and the metre rate and minimums apply as usual.

Can fibre work in Lucknow be added to a Kanpur order?

Yes. Routes in both cities can go in one order with one mobilisation from Faridabad, and their combined length decides the discount slab. Send all route files together with the bore list for each city.

Does the survey cover existing manholes and handholes?

Visible chambers are recorded and used as reference points, and cross-lines are run at each of them. We do not enter or inspect chambers internally as part of the route survey; that can be discussed separately if needed.
