Delhi is not one survey environment
The ground under Connaught Place, Mehrauli and Mayur Vihar has almost nothing in common. The first carries ninety years of layered servicing beneath protected colonnade; the second sits on quartzite with archaeological deposit through it; the third is soft Yamuna floodplain where services settle unevenly.
Records vary just as widely. Some planned colonies still have usable original drawings. Regularised colonies have none at all. Central government estate has drawings held by a body that is not the municipal corporation.
That is why we write each locality separately rather than issuing one Delhi page with a name swapped into it. What a client needs to know about Najafgarh's water table is not what they need to know about Chanakyapuri's clearance lead time.
Who governs which metre
A ten-kilometre Delhi corridor can cross the New Delhi council area, two corporation zones, the PWD, the development authority, the cantonment board and a metro alignment.
Each holds a different application format, deposit basis and restoration specification, and a file addressed to the wrong body restarts rather than transfers. Our liaison desk carries them as separate processes because that is how they behave.
Where a route touches archaeological, forest or defence land, those approvals run on their own timelines entirely and are opened first.
What Delhi ground actually allows
Most of the city is alluvium under made ground of varying depth, which reads reasonably for radar. Two exceptions matter. Quartzite rises close to the surface along the ridge from Mehrauli through Vasant Kunj to Civil Lines, limiting investigation beneath it but giving a useful rock profile. And the eastern floodplain is soft and saturated, which cuts achievable depth.
We calibrate by area rather than applying one velocity citywide. Every locality page states what its own ground allows instead of quoting a single figure for the capital.
Where the record stops being true
Across almost every Delhi locality the same pattern repeats: trunk infrastructure is roughly where the drawing says, and everything added since is not.
Plot rebuilding, commercial conversion, capacity reinforcement and four generations of telecom have all been installed by parties working to their own convenience. The frontage strip between plot boundary and road centre is consistently where surveys find what nobody expected.

Beneath Delhi lies ground that changes across the capital — ridge quartzite, city alluvium and eastern floodplain, and the honest depth figure for that material is typically 1.5 to 4 metres depending entirely on which part of the city the site sits in. That ceiling, not the coverage rate, determines whether the drawing can carry your design decision. Where your works go deeper than the ground allows, we say so at scoping and recommend electromagnetic locating or physical verification rather than issuing a report that cannot support the decision.
How the survey is run here
Survey geometry here is decided by the ground, not by a default grid pattern. Where the material returns strongly on its own account, cross-lines go in closer so geology is not mistaken for a service. We re-calibrate as the ground changes rather than applying one velocity to a whole corridor, which is what keeps the depth figures comparable end to end. The work is ours end to end, which is why a promised start date holds.
What you receive
Layered CAD in DWG following your convention, with every line attributed by depth, by how it was detected and by how far it can be relied upon. SHP or KML output for clients running a GIS, together with a PDF issue set for circulation. A signed report recording what was covered, what depth was reached on each section, where access was refused and what the method could not resolve. On Delhi work the report also records the authorities involved — the New Delhi council area authority, the corporation zones, PWD, DDA, DMRC, cantonment, forest and archaeological bodies where they apply — because the deliverable has to satisfy whichever of them receives it. Raw data is retained, so a plotted line can be traced to its measurement years later if a claim arises.
