Underground utility mapping in Delhi records every detectable buried service across a road, junction, colony or campus – cables, water mains, sewers, ducts and gas lines – using GPR and EM locating, with each find set out in a signed report. Mezux Touch charges ₹24 per metre of scan line on a 4 km minimum; CAD/GIS drawings are quoted separately.

What is underground utility mapping in Delhi, and when is it ordered?
A route survey answers one question: is there room for this cable or duct? Mapping answers a broader one: what is under this whole area? Underground utility mapping in Delhi covers a full road width, a junction, a colony or a campus, and records every service our methods can detect, whoever owns it.
Typical reasons for ordering it in the capital:
- road widening, junction redesign or footpath rebuilding, where designers need the full picture before drawing anything;
- colony and campus redevelopment, where decades of additions were never recorded;
- drainage or water upgrades that must thread past existing cables;
- a client building its own record of the services under a large site.
The method is outlined on our utility mapping service page. This page covers only mapping work inside Delhi; for route surveys and other jobs in the city, see the Delhi GPR survey page.
How are Delhi's many service owners shown on one record?
Under a single Delhi street you can find power cables of one of four networks – BSES Rajdhani in the south and west, BSES Yamuna in the east and centre, Tata Power-DDL in the north and north-west, NDMC in the New Delhi area – alongside water mains, sewers, storm drains, several operators' telecom ducts and, in many areas, gas pipelines. The road surface itself may belong to MCD, NDMC or PWD.
Our record keeps these apart. Each detected service is classed by type where the evidence supports it, so power, water, sewer, telecom and gas sit on separate layers rather than one tangle of lines. Services we detect but cannot identify are shown as unknown, not guessed. The record notes which body controls each stretch of road, which helps when the findings must be shared.
Mezux Touch is not affiliated with any DISCOM, municipal body or development authority in Delhi; the mapping is done for the client who orders it.
Subsurface utility engineering in Delhi: how reliable is each line?
Not every line on a utility map deserves the same trust, and a useful record says which is which. In subsurface utility engineering terms, services found by radar and EM locating are designated – their position and approximate depth are inferred from the surface. Services seen in a trial pit or open chamber are verified.
We tag each line accordingly:
- traced by EM along its length, with a clear radar response;
- seen on radar only, with no EM signal;
- taken from the owner's records, not confirmed on site;
- exposed in a trial pit, where one was dug on request.
Designers can then decide where a line is good enough and where they need a pit. Our article on SUE quality levels explains the grading in more detail.
When do 3D utility mapping services in Delhi make sense?
Most mapping uses 2D radar lines laid out as a grid, which works well where services run roughly along or across the road. Some places are harder: large junctions where services bend and cross at angles, plazas and forecourts with no clear direction, and crowded old-city stretches where pipes and cables overlap at several levels. There, a dense 3D or high-resolution scan builds a block of data that can be sliced at any depth or direction. It takes longer to collect and process, so we suggest it only where 2D lines would leave real doubt. See our comparison of 3D GPR and 2D line surveys.
What does a GIS utility mapping agency in Delhi hand over?
With every mapping order you receive ground marks of each detected service across the area, plus a signed report listing finds with their approximate depths, the depth radar reached on each section, the confidence tag for each line and every place we could not access.
Many Delhi clients also want the record as drawings. Underground utility CAD drawing services in Delhi, and GIS layers for clients who keep their own spatial database, are prepared from the same survey data. These drawing sets are quoted separately and are not part of the per-metre rate. Details are on our CAD/GIS utility mapping page; for city-scale programmes see smart city underground mapping.
How is utility corridor mapping in Delhi priced?
Area work is priced on the length of radar lines needed to cover it, at the same metre rate as route surveys. Utility corridor mapping in Delhi along a road is straightforward to measure; a colony or campus is converted to scan-line length once the grid is agreed. As Delhi is inside NCR, a 4 km minimum is the only floor – no project minimum applies. GST is extra.
| Mapping job | Basis | Value before GST |
|---|---|---|
| Campus needing 3 km of scan lines | Billed on 4 km at ₹24/m | ₹96,000 |
| 30 km of road corridor | ₹24/m | ₹7,20,000 |
| 30 km of road corridor with depth profile | ₹32/m | ₹9,60,000 |
Whole-order slabs cut every metre by 25% past 100 km, 40% past 500 km and 50% past 1,000 km. CAD/GIS drawing sets, mobilisation, night working and traffic arrangements or permissions are separate lines. The GPR survey price list shows every slab.

Metre rate on scan lines
Mapping is billed at ₹24 per metre of radar line, so a 30 km road corridor comes to ₹7,20,000 before GST.
Small campuses on one floor
A site needing under 4 km of scan lines is billed as 4 km, with no extra project minimum inside Delhi NCR.
Drawings only when needed
CAD or GIS sets are quoted as a separate item, so clients who only need marks and a report do not pay for them.
Large programmes, whole-order slabs
City-scale mapping beyond 100 km is 25% cheaper on every metre, rising to 40% beyond 500 km and 50% beyond 1,000 km.
3D only where it pays
Dense 3D scanning is proposed for complex junctions and plazas only, keeping ordinary stretches on quicker 2D grids.
Every extra shown upfront
Mobilisation, night shifts, traffic arrangements or permissions and drawing sets are written as separate lines before any work begins.

Questions about utility mapping in Delhi
How is utility mapping different from a route survey?
A route survey follows one planned alignment and asks whether a new cable or duct fits. Mapping covers a whole area – full road width, junction or site – and records everything detectable, whatever its owner. Both use radar and EM locating and the same metre rate; mapping simply needs more scan lines.
Can you map an entire colony or campus?
Yes. Internal roads, open areas and parking are scanned on an agreed grid, and every detected service is recorded. Areas under buildings or locked enclosures cannot be scanned and are shown as no-access. Send a site plan and we will propose the grid and the scan-line length before quoting.
Can the results go into our own GIS?
They can, as a separately quoted GIS layer set prepared from the survey data, with each service type on its own layer and confidence tags carried as attributes. Tell us your GIS format and coordinate system when you request the quote, so the layers match what your team already uses.
Does mapping pick up sewers and storm drains?
Usually, yes. Larger sewers and drains give a strong radar response, and manholes at the surface help confirm their line. Smaller or deeper pipes in wet ground are harder. Where a sewer is seen at manholes but not clearly between them, the record shows the uncertain section honestly.
Will the map show services beneath buildings?
No. We scan from accessible ground – roads, footpaths, open areas and yards. Services passing under a building or a sealed slab cannot be traced from inside the structure as part of this work. The record marks where a service enters such an area and where it reappears, if it does.
How long does a utility record stay current?
It is accurate for the date of the survey. Delhi streets change constantly with new connections, diversions and repairs, so a record a few years old may miss recent work. Before major excavation on an older record, a fresh scan of the affected stretch is sensible and can be ordered on its own.
