Quick answer

Hiring a GPR survey company in Aizawl for ridge-road work? Before anyone digs, the Faridabad-based Mezux Touch team travels up to Mizoram with its own radar and works out where Aizawl's buried power, water, drainage and telecom lines lie. Aizawl route scanning costs ₹24 a metre, ₹32 a metre with the L-section; the minimum order is 4 km, the minimum project ₹1,00,000, and GST is extra.

Rates and page checked:

Survey team setting up radar equipment at a roadside work site
On a narrow Aizawl verge, set-up is planned so traffic can keep moving.
Coloured paint marks on a road showing buried cable and pipe positions
Each colour on the road ties back to a numbered entry in the Aizawl report.
Diagram of a new duct crossing beneath a road and existing pipes
Bends and road crossings on ridge routes get a tighter scan pattern.
Project schedule chart with survey stretches and planned dates
For Aizawl, programme and mobilisation are agreed with the client before dates are fixed.

What does a GPR survey company in Aizawl look for?

Before a cable trench, water-line replacement, duct bore or foundation goes ahead, the useful question is simple: what is already buried here? As a GPR survey company in Aizawl, our job is to answer that on the ground, without breaking the surface.

Radar picks up targets that differ from the soil around them, whether metal or not. An EM locator then follows conductive lines along their run. Between them, a crew can usually find:

  • HT and LT electricity cables, street-light feeders and earthing conductors;
  • water supply mains and house service pipes, including plastic ones;
  • roadside drains, culverts and sewer lines;
  • telecom cables and OFC ducts;
  • buried chambers, abandoned pipes and voids under the road edge.

Each find is painted or pegged on site, given an approximate depth, and listed in a signed report. Lengths we could not scan are listed as well, with the reason.

How is a survey laid out on Aizawl's steep, winding roads?

The city spreads along steep ridges, and its roads follow them. That shapes the scan plan more than anything else:

  1. Walk-over first. The crew walks the full alignment to see where a radar cart can roll, where the surface is broken or stepped, and where chambers or poles hint at a buried line leaving the road.
  2. Passes along the usable width. On a single-lane stretch, two or three parallel radar passes may cover the whole carriageway and verge. Wider stretches get more.
  3. Closer lines at bends and junctions. Services tend to cross the road or change sides at hairpins and junctions, so the pattern tightens there.
  4. Handheld tracing where carts cannot go. Stepped lanes and steep footpaths are traced with the locator, and the report notes that radar coverage was limited.

Survey work on a slope also needs care around retaining walls and road shoulders. The crew notes any visible distress, but the survey is about buried services, not slope stability.

Which public bodies and works affect an Aizawl survey?

Three names come up on most projects in the capital:

  • the Power & Electricity Department, Government of Mizoram, which looks after electricity supply and its cables;
  • the Aizawl Municipal Corporation, for civic streets and drains in its area;
  • Aizawl Smart City, whose upgrade works add newer services to roads that already carry old ones.

Their drawings, where available, help us decide where to scan most closely, but records seldom show every line or its true depth. Permissions to work on a road and requests for records are made by the client. To be clear, Mezux Touch has no affiliation with any of these three bodies, or with any other government office; we report only to the client who places the order.

How deep can a ground penetrating radar survey in Aizawl see?

No fixed figure applies. How far radar reaches depends on the soil and how wet it is. Wet clay and saline ground absorb the signal and shorten the reach; dry, sandy material lets it travel further. Hill roads add their own variety: made-up fill at the road edge, natural ground on the hill side, and sometimes rock close below the surface.

For that reason, a ground penetrating radar survey in Aizawl reports the depth actually reached on each section of the route. Rain soaks the ground and lowers that reach, so deep crossings are often better scanned in drier weeks. Where a single service decides your design depth, we can dig a trial pit or bore a hole on request to confirm it.

What do GPR scanning services in Aizawl cost?

Aizawl routes are billed by the metre. A standard Aizawl scan is ₹24 for each metre – ₹24,000 for every kilometre of ridge road. Choose the L-section and you pay ₹32 per metre, getting a depth profile of the services found as well. Aizawl orders are billed on 4 km even when shorter, and Mizoram being far from Delhi NCR, no Aizawl project can cost under ₹1,00,000. GST follows on top.

Example jobOptionBefore GST
3 km ridge-road cableStandard₹1,00,000 (4 km = ₹96,000, raised to the project minimum)
7 km water mainStandard₹1,68,000
7 km water mainL-section₹2,24,000
150 km duct programmeStandard, 25% slab₹27,00,000

Big programmes are discounted across the whole order: 25% after 100 km, 40% after 500 km and 50% after 1,000 km, with the slab applied to every metre. Mobilisation, night working, traffic arrangements or permissions, and CAD/GIS drawing sets are quoted outside these figures. The GPR survey price list sets out every slab.

Which utility detection services in Aizawl can you order?

  • Power cable routes. Scanning ahead of new HT/LT cabling and its crossings; see HT/LT cable route GPR survey.
  • Telecom duct routes. Clearing an OFC alignment along road edges before trenching or boring; see OFC route GPR survey.
  • Depth profiles. The L-section GPR survey for work orders that ask for depths along the line.
  • Building sites. Grid scans of plots and campuses before foundations, among the utility detection services in Aizawl that builders ask for most; see construction site GPR survey.
  • Cable fault locating. A separate task from route survey, priced on its own.
  • Trial pits or boreholes at chosen points, on request.

How do our crews and systems reach Aizawl?

Everything starts from our Faridabad base. We own 58 GPR systems and 18 HDD rigs, and in-house crews operate them, so no machine is hired and no job is sub-let. Over 23 years those crews have completed 1.5 lakh+ km of GPR survey in 28+ States/UTs.

Aizawl is a remote hill capital, so the programme and mobilisation are worked out with you: which stretches are ready, which need traffic arrangements or permissions, and whether the job fits one visit or several. Mobilisation is quoted separately, and we do not commit to travel times in advance. Grouping all your Aizawl routes and sites into one order keeps mobilisation per kilometre lower.

For planning advice, read our Aizawl underground utility survey guide. Other capitals we cover are on the state capitals page.

STEP 1

Share the alignment

Send a KML or drawing with total length, marking hairpin bends, stepped lanes and any road crossings already planned.

STEP 2

Agree programme together

We settle dates, visits and mobilisation with you, since Aizawl is a remote hill capital far from Faridabad.

STEP 3

Radar and EM passes

Carts cover the usable road width while handheld locators trace conductive lines on steps and steep footpaths.

STEP 4

Paint finds on site

Every detected cable, pipe or duct is marked on the surface with its approximate depth before excavation starts.

STEP 5

Signed report issued

The report lists every find, depth reached per section and lengths that could not be scanned, with reasons.

FAQ

Questions about GPR survey in Aizawl

Can you scan a road edge supported by a retaining wall?

Usually, yes, as long as the surface is safe to walk and the crew can work clear of traffic. Radar passes run along the verge and footpath above the wall. We do not scan the wall face itself for services, and any visible cracking or settlement is noted for the client's engineer.

Is survey work possible during the rainy months in Aizawl?

It is, though wet ground reduces radar reach and heavy rain can stop work on exposed stretches for a while. Depth reached is stated section by section, so you can see the effect. Critical deep crossings can be held for drier weeks if the programme allows.

Is Mezux linked with Aizawl Smart City or the municipal corporation?

No. We have no affiliation, empanelment or approval from Aizawl Smart City, the Aizawl Municipal Corporation or the Power & Electricity Department. Contractors working on their projects can order a survey from us like any other client, and our findings go to that client.

Can road routes and a campus site go in one Aizawl order?

Yes. Route lengths and the scan lines needed to cover a campus or plot are added together for billing. One order means one mobilisation plan, and the combined length counts towards the 4 km minimum and any discount slab.

How is the ₹1,00,000 project minimum applied?

It is a floor on the survey bill, not an extra charge. If the metre-rate total is below ₹1,00,000, the bill is raised to that amount; if it is higher, the calculated total applies. Mobilisation, other separate items and GST are added either way.

Can you find a fault on an existing cable in Aizawl?

We do locate cable faults, yes – though in Aizawl, as anywhere, fault finding is kept separate from route survey work, with an Aizawl quote of its own. Share the cable type, the line it roughly follows and the symptoms seen, and we will explain what the work would involve.
