Quick answer

An underground utility survey in Agartala finds power cables, water mains, drains and telecom ducts before excavation, using ground penetrating radar plus electromagnetic locating. Mezux Touch sends its own crews and radar from Faridabad and agrees the programme with you. The rate is ₹24 per metre, with a 4 km and ₹1,00,000 project minimum; GST is extra.

Key points
  • An underground utility survey in Agartala pairs owner records with GPR and EM scanning before digging.
  • TSECL, Agartala Municipal Corporation and telecom operators each keep separate records, so no file shows everything.
  • Long monsoons and damp ground near the Haora river reduce radar depth, which is reported section by section.
  • Route, L-section, pre-excavation and HDD crossing surveys are offered; fault locating is quoted as separate work.
  • Expect ₹24 per metre for routine scanning, ₹32 with an L-section, and a ₹1,00,000 floor outside NCR.

What is an underground utility survey in Agartala?

It is a field investigation that tells you where buried services run before a trench is opened, a pit is dug or a bore is drilled. An underground utility survey in Agartala combines a desk check of whatever records the service owners can share with on-ground scanning, so the excavation team works from evidence instead of memory.

Utility detection on site leans on two tools:

  • Ground penetrating radar (GPR), which sends a radar signal downward and logs echoes from cables, pipes, ducts, chambers and voids, plastic as well as metal.
  • Electromagnetic (EM) locators, the cable locator family, which follow the field around metallic utilities such as power cables and copper telecom pairs.

Each find gets a paint mark or peg and an entry in a report the crew lead signs. For our radar work across the Tripura capital, see the GPR survey in Agartala page.

Why is a survey worth ordering before digging in Agartala?

Most city roads carry services laid by different owners at different times, and the drawings for them are rarely complete. Agartala adds a few local reasons to be careful:

  • Smart City works. Agartala Smart City projects have brought new drains, road upgrades and cable ducts to streets that already held older lines. Fresh work sits beside, above or across what was there before.
  • Several record holders. Power distribution in the city is handled by Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL), civic roads and drains fall under Agartala Municipal Corporation, and telecom operators keep their own route records. No single file shows everything.
  • Growth after the rail link. Agartala has had a broad-gauge rail link since 2016, and new connectivity tends to bring new building, which means more service connections cut into existing roads.

Hitting a live underground cable or a water main costs far more than the scan that would have prevented it. The bodies above are named only because their records and permissions matter to your job; Mezux Touch is not affiliated with TSECL, the municipal corporation or any Smart City agency.

Which types of utility survey suit Agartala projects?

Match the scope to the work that will follow:

Alignment scan for a new cable or pipe

Radar lines follow the planned alignment, with cross-lines at junctions, chambers and poles, so every existing service on the trenching or drilling path gets marked.

L-section survey

Where a design team needs to see how deep detected services lie along the route, the L-section version adds a depth profile. When that extra rate pays off is covered on the L-section GPR survey page.

Pre-excavation clearance

A small area, such as a foundation pit, a chamber position or a transformer plinth, is scanned on a close grid before the first spade goes in.

Crossing survey for HDD

Road and drain crossings planned as horizontal directional drilling are scanned along the drill line and around the entry and exit pits, letting the driller pick a depth free of existing lines; see HDD route survey.

Fault locating

Pinpointing where a damaged cable has failed is different work, priced by itself whenever you need it.

How do Agartala's ground and seasons affect the results?

Moisture content decides what radar can see. Water alters the dielectric properties of soil (it slows the radar pulse and soaks up more of its energy) and lifts its conductivity, so the pulse fades sooner; this signal attenuation is what caps penetration depth, and damp clay suffers far more than dry sand. Agartala has a long, heavy monsoon, and parts of the city lie on low ground near the Haora river where soil stays damp for much of the year. Both points tend to reduce how deep radar can see.

No single figure is quoted for Agartala. Each part of the report records the survey depth actually achieved and flags any stretch where returns were unclear. Where one line has to be proven before the design is frozen, a trial pit or borehole can be opened at that spot on request; the comparison of GPR versus trial pits and boreholes weighs the two.

What should the delivered report contain and how is it kept?

  • A route plan with every detected service and its approximate depth where the data supports one.
  • The method behind each line, radar or EM, which tells the designer how much weight it deserves.
  • Unscanned stretches (parked vehicles, closed gates, standing water) listed by location.
  • The survey date and the crew lead's signature on every sheet.

CAD or GIS drawing sets can be added, quoted apart from the survey rate. File the report with the project, add your own as-laid line to it once installed, and rescan before anyone digs that road again.

How should a survey in Agartala be planned and priced?

  1. Share the route. Send a KML, a hand-marked map or a design drawing that shows total length, expected services and each crossing.
  2. Group the work. Agartala is far from our Faridabad base, so combine every stretch into one order; programme and mobilisation are agreed with you before the crew leaves.
  3. Confirm access. The project owner obtains road-working permission and arranges traffic control with the relevant authority; both fall outside our rate.

Charges run per metre of route: ₹24 for standard scanning and ₹32 once an L-section profile is included. Anything under 4 km is invoiced as 4 km, and because Agartala lies beyond Delhi NCR no project goes below ₹1,00,000. Big programmes have the whole length discounted, by 25% after 100 km, 40% after 500 km and 50% after 1,000 km. Mobilisation, night shifts, traffic arrangements and drawing sets each appear as their own line, with GST added on top. The GPR survey price list shows worked totals, and the state capitals survey hub covers the other capitals we serve.

TIP 1

Ask owners for records

Request route sketches from the power, water and telecom owners early; even rough ones tell the crew where to look first.

TIP 2

Avoid waterlogged weeks

Standing water and saturated soil cut radar reach, so plan field days for drier spells when the programme gives that choice.

TIP 3

Bundle every stretch

One combined order shares a single mobilisation from Faridabad and may cross a discount slab that lowers the rate on every metre.

TIP 4

Settle permissions first

Road-working permission and traffic arrangements should be in hand before the crew arrives, or survey days are lost waiting.

TIP 5

Prove critical points

Where a deep or uncertain service decides the design, order a trial pit at that spot instead of guessing from radar alone.

FAQ

Questions about underground utility surveys in Agartala

Does Mezux have a team based in Agartala?

No. Crews, radar systems and the equipment yard all sit in Faridabad, and Agartala work is handled by our own people travelling from there. Given the distance, programme and mobilisation are fixed with you beforehand. Call +91 99100 10209 or write to kumar@mezux.in to start.

How long will a survey of my Agartala route take?

That depends on the length, how crowded the street is and how much access you can arrange. Our peak is 100 km in a day, but that was on open corridors with night shifts; busy city lanes move far slower. The quote carries a programme worked out for your specific route.

Can radar find plastic water pipes?

Often, yes. Radar reacts to anything electrically unlike the soil around it, which lets PVC and HDPE mains appear even though an EM locator registers nothing. Narrow pipes in wet clay remain hard to separate, and the report says plainly where detection was uncertain.

Is permission needed before the survey itself?

The scan leaves the road surface intact, yet occupying a carriageway can still call for permission and traffic control. Those are arranged by the project owner with the controlling authority and are billed outside our survey rate. We can advise on what the crew will need on site.

Which details help you price an Agartala job?

Send the route as a KML file or a marked map, the total length, the services you expect, any road or drain crossings, and whether you need an L-section. Mention any working-hour limits. With that, we can return a priced quote with mobilisation and other extras listed.

Is cable fault locating part of the route survey?

No. Locating a fault on a damaged cable is a different task from mapping where services run, and it is quoted separately. If your Agartala job needs both, tell us at enquiry stage so the crew carries the right equipment in one trip.
