Underground Utility Survey in Raipur
A practical note for engineers digging in Raipur and Nava Raipur: which services hide under the roads, whose records to ask for, how weather changes radar results and what a finished survey should hand over.

An underground utility survey in Raipur maps buried cables, pipes, drains and ducts so contractors can excavate or drill without striking them. Our own radar systems and EM locators are mobilised from Faridabad for the work. A standard survey costs ₹24 per metre, with 4 km and ₹1,00,000 per project as minimums, and GST is charged extra.
- Raipur roads can hold power, water, sewer, drainage and fibre lines laid in different decades.
- Nava Raipur's planned services are more orderly, but connections added after handover still need checking.
- Records come from Raipur Municipal Corporation, CSPDCL and telecom operators, requested by the project owner.
- Dry months give deeper radar readings than the monsoon, so achieved depth is reported per section.
- A 10 km standard survey costs ₹2,40,000, or ₹3,20,000 with L-section, before GST.

What does an underground utility survey in Raipur involve?
An underground utility survey in Raipur finds out what is already buried along your route before your own cable, pipe or foundation goes in. It checks owners' records against the ground and ends with road marks and a written account of each find.
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) reacts to changes in dielectric properties – how soil and buried objects carry a radio wave – so it finds plastic pipes and empty ducts as well as metal. Alongside it, an EM cable locator traces metallic utilities, confirming power and telecom cables quickly. Our page on GPR survey in Raipur covers the local service.
Which services usually lie beneath Raipur's roads?
An arterial or colony road can carry HT and LT underground cables plus street-light feeds, PVC or HDPE water mains with house connections, storm drains and sewers, operators' fibre ducts, and dead lines nobody recorded as abandoned – often from different decades.
Nava Raipur (Atal Nagar), the planned capital area, is newer and laid out to a plan, so its services are generally younger and more orderly than the old city's. Planned is not the same as surveyed, though, and later connections still need checking.
Whose records and permissions matter for digging in Raipur?
- Raipur Municipal Corporation – civic roads, drains and water lines within its limits.
- CSPDCL, the power distribution company – HT and LT cable routes.
- Telecom operators – duct and fibre routes on your corridor.
In Nava Raipur, the body managing the planned area is the first stop for layout drawings. The project owner requests records and road-working permission. Mezux Touch is not tied to the corporation, CSPDCL or any development authority; our client is the contractor, developer or operator who places the order.
What kinds of utility survey can be ordered?
Pre-excavation scanning at a work front
The exact footprint of a trench, pit or foundation is scanned closely and marked just before it opens; see pre-excavation utility scanning.
L-section along a cable route
For ₹8 a metre over the standard rate, a depth profile of the lines detected along the route is added.
Crossing check for trenchless work
HDD road crossings get scanned on the drill path and at both pits, and our own 18 HDD rigs can follow with the bore if you wish.
Physical verification
Trial pits or boreholes at chosen points when one line decides the design.
Which specification terms appear in a Raipur survey brief?
- 3D or high-resolution grid – tightly spaced lines over a small area, often with a higher antenna frequency for finer detail, where services crowd together or a pit must be cleared precisely.
- Active and passive EM – passive mode listens for current already on a line; active mode applies a signal so the line can be traced.
To see how the two field methods compare, read EM cable locator vs GPR.
How do weather and ground conditions change the results?
Moisture content is the main variable. Water and salts cause signal attenuation, so radar travels further through dry ground and fades fast in wet clay or saline soil; one street can give a deeper penetration depth in the dry months than during the monsoon. Made-up ground under old roads, with mixed fill and rubble, adds clutter that takes care to read.
So we never promise one depth figure for Raipur. Each section's achieved reach goes into the report, with weak stretches flagged so you know where a pit is advisable.
What should a finished survey hand over?
- Site marks the excavation gang can follow without a drawing in hand.
- A signed report giving each service, its type where it can be told and an approximate depth, tied by sketch to poles, chambers and kerbs.
- A list of gaps – blocked stretches, unreadable ground and expected lines not found.
Layered CAD drawings and GIS files are priced separately from the per-metre survey.
How do you plan and budget a survey in Raipur?
Send the alignment, length, expected services and any crossings, and tell us about working-hour limits. Programme and mobilisation from Faridabad are then fixed with you. Expect ₹24 a metre, or ₹32 where the L-section is added. An order under 4 km is charged for 4 km, and Raipur's position outside Delhi NCR brings a ₹1,00,000 minimum per project. Some sample totals, before GST and separate items:
| Order | How it is billed | Survey amount |
|---|---|---|
| 3 km standard | 4 km minimum, then project floor | ₹1,00,000 |
| 10 km standard | 10,000 m × ₹24 | ₹2,40,000 |
| 10 km with L-section | 10,000 m × ₹32 | ₹3,20,000 |
| 120 km standard | 25% off the whole order | ₹21,60,000 |
Over 500 km the entire order is discounted 40%, and over 1,000 km 50%. Mobilisation, after-hours shifts, traffic arrangements and drawing sets sit outside the metre rate. See the GPR survey price list for every slab; the state capitals hub lists other capitals we cover, and our Raipur location page covers trenchless and telecom works in the city.
How should survey records be maintained afterwards?
File each survey under a reference number with its report, sketches and drawings, and date any reuse of the findings. Add your own line's as-laid route once installed, share a copy with the asset owner on request, and rescan before later digging, since other owners may have added lines since.

Questions about underground utility surveys in Raipur
Is there a GPR survey company near me in Raipur?
Mezux Touch does not keep an office in Raipur. Our crews and radar systems travel from the Faridabad yard for each project, and that move is quoted as mobilisation. To get a quote, call +91 99100 10209 or email kumar@mezux.in with the route length and a map or KML.
Is a survey in Nava Raipur different from one in the old city?
The method is the same, but the ground usually is not. Nava Raipur's services are newer and follow a plan, so records are a better starting point. Older parts of the city tend to hold more layers of services and more unrecorded connections, which slows progress.
Can you survey inside a factory or plant?
Yes, provided the occupier's safety rules and permits are arranged. Plant areas are often crowded with cables, process pipes and foundations, so a close grid is used around the work area. Any induction or permit time is planned into the programme before the crew arrives.
How soon can a crew start in Raipur?
It depends on our crew schedule at the time of order and on your site readiness, so we do not promise a fixed start. Once the scope is clear, we propose dates and agree the programme and mobilisation with you in writing.
When is 3D GPR worth the extra effort?
On small, crowded areas such as a junction, a pit footprint or a plant road where many services cross. Closely spaced lines show how services run between scan lines. For long corridors, a 2D line survey with cross-lines normally gives the answer at lower effort.
Can Mezux also do the drilling after the survey?
Yes. Besides 58 GPR systems, Mezux Touch owns 18 HDD rigs and runs them with in-house crews. A crossing surveyed by our team can be drilled by our team, which keeps the survey findings and the bore plan in one set of hands.
