Quick answer

Looking for a GPR survey company in Sri Vijaya Puram? Mezux Touch plans each island job with you and moves its crews and radar systems out from Faridabad to locate cables, pipes, drains and ducts before excavation. Scanning costs ₹24 per metre, or ₹32 with an L-section. Minimum billing is 4 km and ₹1,00,000 per project, plus GST.

Rates and page checked:

Ground penetrating radar cart being pushed along a paved road
A radar cart covers the road edge where a new island cable or pipe will run.
Radar screen image showing curved reflections from buried pipes
On saline coastal ground, the readable part of this image can be shallow.
Workers hand digging a narrow trench to expose a buried service
A trial pit proves a depth where radar reach on salty ground is limited.
CAD plan of a road showing buried services on separate layers
Drawing sets for Sri Vijaya Puram jobs are prepared on request and quoted separately.

Why hire a GPR survey company in Sri Vijaya Puram before you dig?

A strike on a buried cable or water main is costly anywhere. On an island, repairs can take longer because replacement material and specialist help may have to come from the mainland. That makes it sensible to find out what is underground before excavation, not during it.

A GPR survey company in Sri Vijaya Puram does this without opening the road. Our crews scan the planned route or plot with radar, trace conductive lines with an EM locator, mark each find on the surface and record it in a signed report. Electricity lines in the capital fall under the Electricity Department, A&N Administration; civic services and telecom routes belong to other owners. Mezux Touch is not affiliated with the Electricity Department, the A&N Administration or any municipal or development body, and we work only for the client who orders the survey.

Does the 2024 renaming affect survey paperwork?

The capital of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands was known as Port Blair until it was renamed Sri Vijaya Puram in 2024. The ground has not changed, but the paperwork can be confusing:

  • older utility drawings, work orders and as-built records will usually carry the name Port Blair;
  • newer tenders and permissions will use Sri Vijaya Puram;
  • when you collect records for a survey, search under both names.

Our reports use the current name, and can mention the former one where a client's existing records need to be matched to them.

How does saline coastal ground affect a ground penetrating radar survey in Sri Vijaya Puram?

Radar works by sending pulses into the ground and reading the echoes. Salt and moisture make soil more conductive, and conductive soil soaks up radar energy quickly. Coastal and saline ground is therefore one of the harder settings for radar, and readable depth can be noticeably shallower than on dry inland soil.

That does not make the method useless. It changes how the work is done:

  • Depth is reported per section. A ground penetrating radar survey in Sri Vijaya Puram states the depth actually reached on each length, rather than one figure for the whole job.
  • EM locating carries more weight. Conductive lines such as power cables and metal pipes can be traced by their field even where radar fades.
  • Proof holes where it matters. Trial pits or boreholes can be opened on request at points where a deep line decides the design.
  • Dry spells help. Wetter ground reduces reach further, so deep crossings may be scheduled for drier weather.

What can GPR scanning services in Sri Vijaya Puram locate?

GPR scanning services in Sri Vijaya Puram are used to find:

  1. power cables at HT and LT levels, along with street-light and earthing runs – see underground cable detection;
  2. water mains, service pipes and sewers, including non-metallic pipes – see underground pipeline detection;
  3. storm drains, culverts and chambers;
  4. telecom cables and fibre ducts;
  5. abandoned lines and voids that records no longer show.

Each detected service is listed with its position against your route, its approximate depth and the method that found it. Lines that were detected but could not be identified are listed as such, not guessed.

What does a GPR survey in Sri Vijaya Puram cost?

The survey is charged by the metre: ₹24 for a standard scan and ₹32 when an L-section depth profile of the detected services is added. Some worked figures, before GST:

  • 2 km road crossing and approach: billed as 4 km, which is ₹96,000, then lifted to ₹1,00,000 because projects outside Delhi NCR carry that minimum.
  • 12 km cable route, standard: ₹2,88,000.
  • 12 km cable route with L-section: ₹3,84,000.
  • 600 km multi-site programme: past the 500 km slab, so every metre is 40% cheaper – ₹86,40,000 on standard survey.

The other slabs are 25% off past 100 km and 50% off past 1,000 km, always on the whole order. GST is added to every bill. Island mobilisation, any work at night, traffic management with its permits, and CAD/GIS sets each carry a separate price. All slabs are on our GPR survey price list.

How are crews and systems mobilised to an island capital?

Our base is in Faridabad, where we keep 58 company-owned GPR systems and 18 HDD rigs. Every job is done by our own crews; nothing is hired and nothing is sub-let. Their record since 2003 runs to 1.5 lakh+ km of radar survey over 28+ States/UTs.

Getting people and equipment to an island takes more planning than a mainland job. For Sri Vijaya Puram, the programme and the movement of crews and equipment are settled jointly before any dates:

  • which routes and sites are ready, and which still await permissions;
  • whether the whole scope fits in one visit;
  • what spares and supporting tools the crew must carry, since replacements are not close at hand.

Mobilisation appears as its own quoted item, and no travel time is promised in advance. Putting every island stretch into one order is the simplest way to keep mobilisation cost per kilometre down.

Which utility detection services in Sri Vijaya Puram suit your project?

  • Pre-excavation scan of a trench line or pit area before machines move in; see pre-excavation utility scanning.
  • Bore-path survey where a duct or pipe will cross a road by HDD; see HDD route survey.
  • L-section survey when a work order calls for depths along the route.
  • Plot and campus scans – utility detection services in Sri Vijaya Puram for builders before foundations or new connections.
  • Cable fault locating, quoted as a separate task from route survey.
  • Trial pits or boreholes, on request.

A planning guide for the capital is available in our Sri Vijaya Puram utility survey article, and the full list of capitals we serve sits on our state capitals GPR survey page.

TIP 1

Search both names

Look for existing drawings filed under Port Blair as well as Sri Vijaya Puram before the survey is planned.

TIP 2

Expect shallower reach

Salty, damp coastal soil absorbs radar energy, so readable depth may be lower than on dry inland ground.

TIP 3

Send the full scope

List every route, crossing and plot at once, because each separate island trip adds its own mobilisation cost.

TIP 4

Settle permissions early

Road and site permissions are the client's task; having them ready keeps the crew working once it arrives.

TIP 5

Budget proof holes

Where a deep service governs the design, plan a trial pit or borehole to confirm what radar indicated.

FAQ

Questions about GPR survey in Sri Vijaya Puram

Does salt in the ground stop radar from working?

Not completely, but it reduces how deep radar can see, sometimes sharply. Shallow services are usually still visible, and EM locating can trace conductive lines regardless. The report states the depth reached on each section, so nobody assumes deeper ground was cleared when it was not.

Is Mezux connected with the Electricity Department, A&N Administration?

No. Mezux Touch holds no affiliation, empanelment or approval from the Electricity Department, the A&N Administration or any other government body in the islands. Contractors on their projects may order a survey from us as any client would, and the findings are reported to that client alone.

Do old drawings marked Port Blair still help?

Yes. The city was renamed in 2024, but drawings made earlier still describe the same streets and services. Share whatever you have, whichever name it carries. Records point us to the stretches that deserve the tightest scan pattern, even though the field survey is what confirms positions.

Can island logistics delay the start of the survey?

They can, which is why we plan the programme and mobilisation with each client rather than promising a date upfront. Once equipment movement, crew travel and your permissions are lined up, the start date is confirmed in writing. Changes are notified as early as possible.

Is a short island job still billed at 4 km?

Yes. Anything shorter than 4 km is invoiced at 4 km length, and projects outside Delhi NCR are billed at least ₹1,00,000. For a short crossing in Sri Vijaya Puram, adding nearby routes or plots to the same order makes better use of the visit.

Can the survey be carried out close to the coast?

Yes, where the surface is safe and accessible. Ground nearer the sea tends to be wetter and more saline, so radar reach there is often shallower. We record that section by section and can suggest trial pits where a deeper service must be confirmed.
