HT/LT Cable Route Survey — Noida, Uttar Pradesh

HT/LT Cable Route GPR Survey in Noida

Before an 11 kV feeder or LT cable goes into a Noida sector road, we find the mains, ducts and older cables already sharing that ground, using radar and EM locators we own.

Quick answer

An electric cable route GPR survey in Noida checks a planned HT or LT alignment for mains, sewers, ducts and older cables already buried there, marking each so trenches and bores miss them. Our rate is ₹24 per metre (₹32 when an L-section is added), with only a 4 km minimum inside NCR and GST on top.

Rates and page checked:

Survey engineer checking a radar reading on a tablet beside a road
Readings are checked on screen before any cable crossing is marked on the ground.
Diagram of cables leaving a distribution substation in several directions
Outgoing feeders bunch together near a substation, so new circuits need careful routing.
Depth profile drawing of buried services beneath a planned cable alignment
With the L-section option, every service found is plotted by depth along the feeder.
Radar cart scanning a road at night under work lights
Busy carriageway crossings may need night windows, which are priced as a separate item.

What should an electric cable route GPR survey in Noida settle before trenching?

A new HT feeder or LT distribution cable in Noida seldom gets a clear strip of ground. Sector roads already carry water mains, sewers, storm drains, telecom ducts and older power cables, and the safe line for the new cable is whatever space remains between them. An electric cable route GPR survey in Noida answers three practical questions before a trench is opened or a bore is set out:

  • Which existing services run along the proposed alignment, and how far from it do they lie?
  • Where must the new cable cross another service, and at roughly what depth?
  • Which stretches are so crowded that the alignment ought to shift to the other side of the road?

We answer them with radar and EM locating on the actual ground, paint or peg each find, and hand over a signed report. Our HT/LT cable route GPR survey service page sets out the method for any city; what follows is how it works on Noida ground.

Where do Noida cable alignments run into the most buried services?

The Noida Authority planned the city as numbered sectors, and that layout produces a few predictable pressure points for anyone routing power cable:

  • Sector dividing roads. The wide roads between sectors carry trunk services for both sides, so a feeder along them shares the verge with mains and ducts of several owners.
  • Plot frontages inside sectors. Each building's water, sewer and power connection crosses the frontage strip, leaving a dense run of short, shallow service crossings.
  • Around substations and ring main units. Cables bunch together where they leave a substation, so a new circuit has to find room among the existing ones.
  • Along the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway. Its service roads and verges form long, busy corridors where fibre for IT campuses and data centres often runs beside power cable.
  • Near the Blue Line and Aqua Line. Metro construction usually involves shifting services, so older drawings close to these alignments deserve extra caution.

Our GPR survey page for Noida covers the city's ground and authorities in general; the points above are the ones that weigh most on cable work.

How is underground electrical line tracing in Noida carried out on site?

  1. Route walk with the drawing. The crew compares the proposed alignment with the ground, noting chambers, feeder pillars, poles, RMUs and any visible cable markers.
  2. EM sweep. A locator picks up live cables and other conductive lines from the current they carry, or from a signal applied where a line can be connected safely.
  3. Radar lines. GPR runs along the route and across it, with extra lines at junctions, frontages and planned crossings. Radar sees plastic pipes, empty ducts and cables that give EM nothing to follow.
  4. Marking. Paint or pegs in the right utility colour go down over each service, with its estimated depth noted alongside.
  5. Report. Findings, the depth radar reached on each section and any no-access stretches go into a signed report.

Live HT cables are located without contact; our crews never open joints or cut into a cable. For a closer look at how the two methods divide the work, read how GPR traces HT and LT cables.

HT cable route mapping in Noida: how are Expressway, metro and drain crossings handled?

Crossings are where a cable route most often goes wrong. On a long Noida feeder they typically include sector roads, the Expressway or its slip roads, metro corridors and the larger storm drains. Each gets its own treatment:

  • HDD crossings. When a crossing will be bored, we scan the bore line and the pit areas at both ends, as far as access permits, so the drilling team can plan a profile that clears what is there. See our HDD route survey page.
  • Open-cut road crossings. A closer grid of radar lines covers the whole crossing width, because services from both sides of the road converge there.
  • Drains and nalas. Culvert positions are recorded so the designer can decide whether the cable goes under or over.

Main carriageways may only be free in night windows. Permission to work there, or close to a metro corridor, is for the project owner to obtain; night-shift working and traffic arrangements are charged separately from the survey rate.

Who hires a power cable mapping company in Noida?

Cable surveys here are mostly ordered by the people who must lay or protect a cable, not by the network owner. Typical clients are:

  • EPC and electrical contractors laying 11 kV or LT cable under distribution works;
  • developers bringing feeders into group housing, commercial towers or industrial plots;
  • IT campuses and data-centre builders planning dedicated or second supply routes;
  • consultants preparing an electric grid underground survey in Noida for a design or a tender.

PVVNL supplies electricity in Noida, so much of the existing cable along a city route will belong to its network. We have no affiliation with PVVNL, with the Noida Authority, or with any DISCOM, civic body or development authority; the client who needs the ground checked engages us and receives the report. A wider view of distribution cabling in the region is given in HT/LT cable mapping for Delhi NCR DISCOMs.

What does a Noida cable route survey cost?

Charges run per metre of route: ₹24 for the standard scan and ₹32 once an L-section depth profile is added. Inside Delhi NCR the single floor is a 4 km minimum length, so no ₹1,00,000 project minimum applies to Noida work. GST is added to the invoice.

Cable jobOptionBefore GST
1.8 km RMU interconnectionStandard, 4 km billed₹96,000
6.5 km 11 kV feederStandard₹1,56,000
6.5 km 11 kV feederL-section₹2,08,000
240 km distribution packageStandard, 25% slab₹43,20,000

For big distribution packages the slab is applied to the entire length – a quarter less above 100 km, 40% less above 500 km, half above 1,000 km. Crew mobilisation, after-hours shifts, traffic management or permits, and CAD/GIS drawings never sit inside these numbers; they are priced item by item. The slab table sits on our price list.

Does your Noida work order need a standard survey or an L-section?

The standard option pins down where each service lies and estimates its depth where it was measured, which suits most LT work and short HT links. Plenty of 11 kV work orders go further and want the depth of existing services profiled end to end, so the designer can fix cable depth and crossing levels. That profile is what the L-section adds, at ₹32 a metre. If the survey clause in your tender reads ambiguously, send it with the route and we will say which option it calls for. More detail is on our L-section GPR survey page.

STEP 1

Share the feeder drawing

Send the route, the substation or RMU at each end, the cable size and whether the work order wants an L-section.

STEP 2

Walk and sweep

The crew walks the alignment with your drawing, then sweeps it with an EM locator to pick up live and metallic lines.

STEP 3

Radar along and across

GPR lines follow the length of the route, with cross-lines at frontages, junctions and every point where a crossing is planned.

STEP 4

Paint the finds

Each detected service receives a colour-coded mark and an approximate depth on the surface, ready for the trenching or HDD team.

STEP 5

Profile and report

The signed report lists finds and depth reach for each section; an L-section adds the continuous depth profile when ordered.

One rate for HT and LT

Whether the cable is an 11 kV feeder or an LT distributor, the standard scan costs the same ₹24 for every metre.

Bundle short links together

Several RMU links or service cables can share one order, so together they use up the 4 km minimum instead of each paying it.

No NCR project floor

Noida jobs are not lifted to ₹1,00,000; a small order simply pays for 4 km at the chosen metre rate.

Profile only where needed

Order the ₹32 L-section for the HT stretches that need a depth profile and keep the rest of the route on the standard rate.

Programme discounts from metre one

A distribution package over 100 km drops to ₹18 a metre throughout; above 500 km and 1,000 km the cut grows to 40% and half.

FAQ

Questions about cable route survey in Noida

Can you survey right beside a live 11 kV cable in Noida?

Yes. Radar and EM locating are non-contact methods, so the cable stays in service and nobody touches it. The crew works from the surface only and does not open joints, pits or cable trenches. Any site safety rules the cable owner or main contractor sets for working near live circuits are followed during the survey.

Do you also drill the HDD crossings on a cable route?

We own 18 HDD rigs and can quote bored crossings separately from the survey. This page covers only the route survey: finding what is buried along and across the alignment so the crossing profile can be planned. If you want both, mention it in your enquiry and the two parts will be priced as distinct items.

How close together are the radar cross-lines on a cable route?

There is no single spacing. Open stretches with few services get wider gaps, while frontages, junctions, substation exits and planned crossings get tighter lines, sometimes a full grid. The crew adjusts spacing on site according to how crowded the ground appears, and the report states what coverage was achieved on each section.

Will the survey pick up an abandoned or disused cable?

Often. Radar responds to the cable as an object, live or dead, so a disused cable can still show up as a reflection. EM locating needs current or an applied signal, so it may miss a dead cable that cannot be connected. Where we see a line but cannot tell whether it is live, the report says so.

What files should come with a Noida cable survey order?

A KML, DWG or PDF of the proposed route, with the substation, RMU or feeder pillar at each end marked. Add the cable schedule, the planned laying method for each stretch (trench or HDD) and the survey clause from the work order. Any existing cable records, even old ones, help us decide where to add lines.

Is the 4 km minimum counted per route or per order?

Per order. Three separate cable links of 1.5 km each, sent together, make 4.5 km and are billed on that length at the metre rate. Sent as three separate orders, each would be charged as 4 km. Grouping short links within Noida, or with other NCR work, is therefore the simplest way to save.
