Quick answer

Need a GPR survey company in Kohima? Mezux Touch sends Faridabad crews with radar systems it owns to find telecom ducts, drains, water pipes and power cables beneath the steep streets of the Nagaland capital. Kohima rates: ₹24 per metre for standard work, ₹32 per metre for L-section work. Kohima minimums: length 4 km, project value ₹1,00,000. GST is extra.

Rates and page checked:

Ground penetrating radar cart being pushed along a paved road
On Kohima's gradients the cart is walked slowly so each reflection is logged cleanly.
Technician holding an electromagnetic locator over a buried cable line
EM tracing separates live power cables from rock echoes on cut hillside roads.
Spray paint marks on a road surface showing buried service positions
Colour-coded marks tell the Kohima excavation crew which owner each line belongs to.
Project programme chart with mobilisation, scanning and reporting stages
For a distant hill capital, dates and mobilisation are fixed jointly with the client.

What does a GPR survey company in Kohima do on site?

Our job is to tell your excavation or drilling crew what already lies beneath a street before they disturb it. As a GPR survey company in Kohima, Mezux Touch does that with two complementary tools.

  • Ground penetrating radar is moved along and across the work line. It records reflections from cables, pipes, ducts, chambers and voids, whether they are metal or plastic.
  • An electromagnetic locator follows conducting lines such as energised cables and metal pipes by the field they carry, which helps confirm what the radar sees.

Findings are painted or pegged on the road the same day and then written up in a signed report: the position of each line, its approximate depth, how it was detected and any stretch the crew could not reach. For cable-focused jobs, see our underground cable detection service.

Where in Kohima is a buried-service survey usually needed?

Kohima is a hill capital spread across steep slopes, so most of its services follow a small number of roads that wind along the contours. Survey requests here tend to fall into a few groups:

  1. Road-edge cable and duct routes. New HT or LT feeders and telecom ducts squeezed into verges that already hold water pipes and drains.
  2. Government and institutional areas. Office complexes, departmental buildings and campuses where new connections, tanks or foundations are planned.
  3. Smart City streets. Footpath, drainage and street-light works under Kohima Smart City, laid into ground that already carries older lines.
  4. Terraced building plots. Sites cut into the hillside, where services can enter from the road above or below.
  5. Crossings. Points where a new line must pass beneath a road, drain or culvert, often by trenchless drilling.

Each group needs a slightly different scan pattern, which is why we ask for the route and site type before quoting.

How do steep slopes change the way radar is run?

On level ground a crew can scan long, straight lines quickly. Kohima's streets rarely allow that, and the method adapts in a few ways:

  • Shorter, overlapping runs. Gradients and tight bends break the route into segments, each tied to the next so no gap is left between them.
  • Extra cross-lines at retaining walls. Fill behind a wall can hold stones and debris that echo like a pipe. Passes at right angles help sort real services from clutter.
  • Rock close to the surface. Where a road is cut into rock, strong reflections from the rock face itself are expected and noted.
  • Verge and carriageway both covered wherever traffic arrangements allow, because a narrow road may hide lines under either.

Depth reach in Kohima is not one fixed figure. Soil and moisture decide it: Kohima ground that is wet clay or saline cuts it, dry sandy ground extends it. A ground penetrating radar survey that Kohima engineers can depend on reports the reach achieved on each section and is candid about weak areas. If one Kohima depth is what the design turns on, ask and a Kohima trial pit or borehole goes in at that spot.

What does a GPR survey in Kohima cost?

Kohima pricing is per metre of route scanned. ₹24 a metre buys the standard survey; ₹32 a metre adds an L-section, i.e. a depth profile of the services found. Under 4 km, a Kohima order is invoiced as 4 km, and with Kohima so far from Delhi NCR, a ₹1,00,000 minimum also applies to each project. GST is extra.

ExampleScopeBefore GST
2 km Smart City streetStandard₹1,00,000 (billed 4 km = ₹96,000, raised to project minimum)
7 km road-edge feeder routeStandard₹1,68,000
7 km road-edge feeder routeL-section₹2,24,000
150 km state programmeStandard, 25% slab₹27,00,000

Once a Kohima order crosses a threshold, its discount slab covers the whole order: 25% for Kohima orders over 100 km, 40% for Kohima orders over 500 km, and 50% for Kohima orders over 1,000 km. Kept outside these Kohima amounts, each on its own line: mobilisation, working night shifts, permissions and traffic arrangements, and Kohima CAD/GIS drawing sets. Every Kohima slab can be checked against the GPR survey price list.

How do crews and systems reach Kohima?

There is no Mezux office in Nagaland. Every survey team leaves from our Faridabad base with company-owned equipment drawn from a fleet of 58 GPR systems and 18 HDD rigs. Crews are our own employees; nothing is sub-let or done on hired machines.

Because Kohima is a remote hill capital, the programme and mobilisation are planned with you before travel is booked. That planning covers which stretches are ready, what permissions are in hand, and whether any work in other parts of the North-East can share the same trip. We do not promise travel times in advance.

Long-distance work is routine for us: over 23 years our crews have completed 1.5 lakh+ km of GPR survey across 28+ States/UTs. Other capitals we serve are grouped on the state capitals GPR survey page, including the nearby hill capital covered on our Itanagar GPR survey page.

Which survey scopes can be ordered for a Kohima project?

  • Standard route survey – services along a planned cable, pipe or duct alignment, marked on the ground and reported.
  • L-section survey – the route survey plus a depth profile of detected services.
  • HT/LT cable route survey – scanning focused on distribution cabling and its crossings; see HT/LT cable route GPR survey.
  • OFC route survey – for telecom ducts and fibre along road edges; see OFC route GPR survey.
  • Site and plot scans – utility detection services in Kohima for terraced plots, offices and campuses.
  • Bore path scans – for trenchless crossings under roads and drains.
  • Cable fault locating – a separate task from route survey, quoted on its own.

Background reading on planning buried-utility work in the city is in our guide, underground utility survey in Kohima.

Whose records and permissions matter in Kohima?

Before a survey, it helps to gather whatever drawings line owners can share. Power cable information generally sits with the Department of Power, Nagaland. Street and drainage works within the town involve the Kohima Municipal Council, and recent upgrades may have records with Kohima Smart City. Telecom operators hold their own duct routes.

Our survey checks those records against what is actually in the ground and reports the differences. Permissions to work on a road or near a utility's assets are arranged by the project owner with the body concerned.

Mezux Touch is not affiliated with the Department of Power, Nagaland, the Kohima Municipal Council, Kohima Smart City or any other utility or authority. We act only for the client who places the order.

STEP 1

Share the alignment

Send a KML, drawing or marked map of the Kohima route, with its length and any crossings already planned.

STEP 2

Agree the programme

We fix dates and mobilisation with you, keeping weather, permissions and ready stretches in view before the crew travels.

STEP 3

Scan segment by segment

Radar and EM passes cover each slope segment, with added cross-lines at walls, chambers, culverts and junctions.

STEP 4

Mark the ground

Every detected line is painted or pegged on the road so the digging crew can see it before work starts.

STEP 5

Receive the report

A signed report lists positions, approximate depths, detection method and any stretch that could not be scanned.

FAQ

Questions about GPR survey in Kohima

Can radar carts work on Kohima's steep streets?

Yes. The cart is moved slowly on gradients, and long routes are broken into overlapping segments so the data stays continuous. Very steep or broken stretches may be scanned in shorter runs or noted as no-access in the report if the crew cannot work there safely.

Will retaining walls and hillside fill give false readings?

They can produce echoes that resemble services. Our crews run cross-lines and use EM tracing to check suspect reflections, and anything that cannot be tied to a real service is reported as unidentified rather than drawn as a pipe or cable.

Do you scan inside government office compounds?

Yes, when the client arranges access. Compounds and campuses are scanned as a grid rather than a single line, so services entering from any side are picked up. Security or entry procedures are set by the office concerned and should be organised before the crew arrives.

Is night work possible on busy Kohima roads?

It can be arranged where traffic or permissions make daytime work difficult. Night-shift working is charged separately from the per-metre survey rate, and lighting and traffic arrangements must be agreed with the road authority first. Tell us early so it can be planned into the programme.

Can you survey a short Smart City street of under 1 km?

We can, but it is billed as 4 km, and the ₹1,00,000 project minimum applies because Kohima is outside Delhi NCR. If you have several short streets, send them together; one combined order usually costs much less per metre than separate visits.

Do you provide CAD or GIS drawings of the findings?

We can prepare CAD or GIS drawing sets from the survey data. They are quoted separately and are not part of the per-metre rate. Share the format or layer standard your consultant uses so the drawing line in the quote matches what you need.
