Indore Municipal Corporation GPR Survey for Tenders
Locating Narmada feeders, Paschim Kshetra cables and Avantika gas lines beneath Indore's 19 corporation zones, drawn up for work orders and bids.
Quick AnswerAhead of a dig on any IMC street, from Rajwada to the Ring Road, an Indore Municipal Corporation GPR survey charts the feeders, sewers, cables, gas lines and fibre below. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) sweeps across the black cotton clay, and a locator follows every energised cable. The findings go into a plan sized for your work order, bid or permission file. Boring instead of trenching? Then read about HDD route survey.
What is an Indore Municipal Corporation utility survey used for?
It tells designers and excavation firms which lines occupy an Indore street, with routes and approximate depths, so the next pipe, drain or cable bends round them. The Indore Municipal Corporation works under the Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1956, across 85 wards and 19 zones. Contractors, consultants and utilities all use the ground penetrating radar survey, and the sheet is shaped to each purpose.
Which services lie under an Indore road?
IMC supply and drainage pipes, Paschim Kshetra feeders, Avantika gas mains and a thickening web of operator fibre. Most of Indore's water is lifted from the Narmada up to the plateau, and the network under the older wards grew phase after phase. Each phase left underground utilities of a different age, material and depth.
| Indore line type | Records held by | Recorded on our sheet |
|---|---|---|
| Narmada feeders and ward distribution pipes | Indore Municipal Corporation | Route, depth, sluice valve pits |
| Drainage and storm water lines | Indore Municipal Corporation | Route, manhole IDs, inverts if accessible |
| 11 kV and LT cables | MP Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company | Feeder routes, joint bays, carriageway crossings |
| City gas pipes | Avantika Gas Ltd | Pipe route, Avantika marker posts, crossing depths |
| Telecom ducts and OFC | Individual operators | Duct groups, pits and handholes per operator |
Table note: names in the middle column tell us whose records to request; positions on our sheet still come only from Indore fieldwork. Read more about utility mapping.
On AB Road or the Ring Road, the whole parallel bundle of utility lines matters more than a few crossings. For that approach, see utility corridor mapping at a glance.
Why does Malwa black cotton soil limit radar depth?
Moist clay swallows the pulse, so reach falls sharply once the rains have soaked it. Much of Indore sits on the Malwa plateau, where black cotton soil lies over weathered Deccan basalt. This radar is a geophysical tool: it beams radar waves into the ground and logs an echo wherever the soil's electromagnetic properties shift. Dry clay lets the signal travel a fair distance, but wet clay fades it fast, and a small plastic pipe at depth may not show. The clay also swells and shrinks, so buried lines creep and joints open.
Deep Narmada pipes get a low-frequency head, and metallic pipes or cables are chased with the locator. Near the fringe, loose stones in the murram give reflected signals that mimic small pipes, so an experienced interpreter sorts them. What changes near the metro and the Narmada works?
Large projects push services sideways, so treat any drawing older than the last major work on a road with caution. The first priority stretch of Indore Metro's Yellow Line, about 6 km, opened in May 2025, and the network reached about 17 km in September 2026. Narmada Phase IV is adding fresh mains, and Smart City rebuilding changed many alignments in the older wards.
Beside a metro pier or a new Phase IV pipe, our strip widens, and any rerouted line with no record is shown as unverified, not guessed.
When should the survey precede an IMC cutting request?
Ideally before the application goes in. IMC zone engineers move quicker on a file that fixes the cut line and names every line beneath it. The zone office sets current cutting charges and reinstatement rules. We scan lengthwise and crosswise, follow energised cables, spray-mark each line and hand over the plan, depth list and photos for your file.
Designers wanting kerbs, levels and carriageway edges too can have them picked up during that same Indore visit; here is how our topographic survey works.
What does the survey cost in Indore?
Indore jobs are billed on metres scanned, subject to a project floor, with slabs reducing long orders.
- Standard GPR scan: ₹24 per metre
- L-section with depths along the route: ₹32 per metre
- Minimum order for an Indore project: ₹1,00,000
- Whole-order discount: 25% above 100 km, 40% above 500 km, 50% above 1,000 km
- GST is extra, and an Indore mobilisation charge, where one applies, is shown as its own line in our quotation
Six kilometres of standard scanning on a zone road in Vijay Nagar comes to ₹1,44,000, whereas a 3 km lane job falls back to the ₹1,00,000 minimum. Our Indore engineer lives locally; scanning opens on approval day, or the next business day at the latest.
What will you get at the end?
Usable construction sheets, not raw radargrams. You get a CAD plan on your grid, a spreadsheet naming each line with its owner and rough depth, a crossings table and manhole photos. Finds not yet identified and mapped to an owner get their own list. Spray marks on the construction site mirror the plan, and where two lines sit too tight to separate, we advise a hand-dug pit.
How are Narmada main crossings tied in?
Narmada Phase IV brings large pressure mains through the city. Where an IMC job crosses one, we read its chambers and the road profile with a total station along Indore zone roads, on DGPS control for Indore jobs. The radar trace gets a level at each crossing, so a designer sees the true vertical gap, and Yellow Line piers are picked up too.
Who scans IMC roads in Indore?
Salaried Mezux Touch people handle the Indore job end to end, with radars we own. In buried-service work since 2003, we field 58 GPR units under ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, and no Malwa fieldwork goes to a subcontractor. IMC has commissioned us itself, as have package holders, consultants and agencies on its roads, so each one of the utility surveys is ours alone.
For IMC utility mapping, tell us which zone road and why, and we will price your Indore job in writing.
Frequently asked questions
Will IMC itself scan the road for me?
Rarely. Whoever holds the job, be it a contractor, consultant or utility, books the survey and adds our plan to its IMC file.
Do you also cover land under the Indore Development Authority?
Yes. Scheme land and MR roads under IDA get the same fieldwork, with output tailored for handover; see how long an IDA Indore utility survey takes.
Will radar find a PVC water line in black cotton soil?
Not every time. Narrow PVC in soaked Malwa clay can escape the radar, so low-confidence spots are flagged and a trial pit is advised.
Can you survey only the crossings?
Yes. Short strips at each crossing can be scanned alone, billed per metre with the project minimum still applying.
Could you scan AB Road or MG Road after dark?
Yes, if planned ahead. Traffic police clearance is yours to obtain, and we bring lights, cones and a team used to working beside traffic.
When does the Indore drawing reach us?
Drawings for a few kilometres follow within a few working days. Long jobs are released stretch by stretch, so the utility data reaches designers early.
