Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation GPR Survey for Drains
Scans of Uppal estates, LB Nagar junctions and Keesara layouts for the eastern civic body formed out of GHMC in 2026.
Quick AnswerA Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation GPR survey shows a contractor which HMWSSB, TGSPDCL, gas and telecom assets lie under a road in the three eastern zones, from Alwal down to Hayathnagar. The body was formed only in February 2026, so ownership is checked before the ground penetrating radar (GPR) and locator go out. Live HT work is covered in more on underground cable detection.
What is the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation?
Eastern Hyderabad's own corporation, one of three that took over from the undivided GHMC on 11 February 2026. GO Ms No. 55 gave it three zones, Malkajgiri, Uppal and LB Nagar, with 74 wards in 14 circles. Its area is reported at roughly 727 sq km, larger than either of its two siblings.
The circles run from Alwal, Bowenpally, Moula Ali and Keesara in the north, through Kapra, Nacharam, Uppal, Boduppal and Ghatkesar, down to Nagole, Saroornagar, LB Nagar and Hayathnagar. A High Court petition against the split went in that February. Seven months later the Assembly approved the Core Urban Region (Integrated Governance) Bill as a common law for the three bodies. June 2026 reports spoke of raising the wards to 100. Confirm the road owner before you budget.
How does a Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation utility survey run?
Five stages make up a Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation utility survey, with ownership settled at stage two instead of at the end. Roads have changed hands this year, so one street can appear on an old GHMC file and a new Malkajgiri one.
In the field the radar picks out pipes, voids and other buried objects, while the locator walks energised utility lines end to end. Crews near Uppal's HT feeders should read about underground cable detection.
What sits under eastern Hyderabad's roads?
A mix of old industrial services, highway-side mains and brand-new colony lines. The Uppal and Nacharam industrial areas carry process pipes, metallic pipes for fire water and heavy power connections. The Warangal highway through Uppal has trunk mains and fibre along both shoulders. Metro lines end at Nagole and LB Nagar, and the land under and beside the viaduct holds diverted services.
Around Keesara and Ghatkesar, farmland has become layouts within a few years. Developers often lay the water, sewer and power lines and hand them over later, so the corporation's records lag the ground. Eastern jobs are delivered as AutoCAD or GIS with services on separate layers, explained under learn about CAD and GIS utility mapping.
Eastern zones at a glance
| Zone | Circles in it | What we watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Malkajgiri | Alwal, Bowenpally, Moula Ali, Keesara | Railway-side colonies and a stony outer edge |
| Uppal | Kapra, Nacharam, Uppal, Boduppal, Ghatkesar | Estate process pipes, Warangal highway mains, fresh layouts |
| LB Nagar | Nagole, Saroornagar, LB Nagar, Hayathnagar | Services moved for the metro, crowded crossings |
Table note: the old-city and central zones are handled under GHMC Hyderabad utility survey rates and scope.
How does the ground behave here?
Over most of the east the granite lies shallow; beside the lakes the ground turns soft and damp. GPR is a geophysical method that reads the subsurface from the echoes of electromagnetic waves, and dry weathered rock passes them well. Sheet rock pushes services into shallow cuts, sometimes less than a metre down. Around tanks near Saroornagar and Uppal the soil holds more clay and water, its electrical conductivity rises and depth of view drops. Antenna and scan spacing change to suit, and lifted covers check depths by hand. For the whole city, read our page on GPR survey in Hyderabad; worked cases sit in the utility survey guide for Hyderabad.
Which jobs do eastern Hyderabad clients bring us?
Mostly road and drain upgrades, new fibre, industrial expansions and plot scans before foundations. A drain job needs a wide corridor with depths at every crossing, while fibre rollouts need duct positions at each junction. Factory expansions in Uppal or Nacharam need an internal layout of the plot, and new gated layouts need developer-laid services checked before handover.
The brief sets the band width, cross-line count and output, so naming the job type avoids paying for the wrong detail.
For an eastern site, send the KMZ or pins, the purpose, any developer or GHMC-era drawing and the permitted road hours. Paper records steer where we look closely, but the final drawing holds only what the GPR data or the locator confirmed, and uncertain lines are flagged.
What will the survey cost?
Standard scanning is charged at ₹24 per metre and L-sections at ₹32, GST extra, and no project falls below ₹1,00,000. Big programmes earn an order-wide cut, 25% once past 100 km, 40% after 500 km and 50% after 1,000 km.
Eight kilometres of standard scanning on a Boduppal-type colony trunk road totals ₹1,92,000. A 2.5 km L-section is ₹80,000 on rate, so it rises to the ₹1,00,000 floor. Chargeable mobilisation or travel, if any, has its own quotation line. Our Hyderabad-based surveyor opens eastern work right after your order, within one business day at most.
Can widening lines be marked on eastern roads?
Yes. Where a road in Uppal or LB Nagar is to be widened, our surveyors mark the proposed edge and show which services fall inside it. Widening often moves the kerb onto strips where old pipes and cables lie, and the shifting cost depends on how many there are. Control is fixed with DGPS control for east Hyderabad. A total station road survey records the kerb, building fronts, poles and chambers. Each radar line is then tagged as inside or outside the widening line from your plan.
Can one team cover all three corporations?
Yes. A pipeline or fibre route often crosses corporation lines, and it is scanned as one job with one drawing. The drawing is split by boundary only where permission files need it. Where part of the route enters the IT corridor, follow booking a Cyberabad Municipal Corporation utility survey for that stretch.
We have located underground utilities since 2003. Our own staff work the eastern zones with radars from a fleet of 58, under ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems, and nothing passes to another crew. Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation has placed work orders with Mezux itself. Contractors, consultants and utilities on construction projects in its three zones book us too. Frequently asked questions
When was the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation formed?
On 11 February 2026, when GO Ms No. 55 split the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation into three corporations.
Does it include Uppal and LB Nagar?
Yes. Its three zones are Malkajgiri, Uppal and LB Nagar, with circles from Alwal and Keesara down to Hayathnagar.
Which other parts of Hyderabad do you serve?
Every part, Outer Ring Road fringe included; see survey coverage in Hyderabad.
Can the drawing carry real-world coordinates?
Yes. Control points from a DGPS survey for Hyderabad sites put the services on the same grid as your engineers' plans.
Can you find lines a developer laid but never handed over?
In most cases. A ground penetrating radar survey reads the ground with or without paperwork, and the locator follows any energised metal line.
How long is the drawing after scanning?
A few kilometres is normally drawn within days. Longer eastern routes are released stretch by stretch as utility maps.
