Total Station — Noida
Total Station Survey in Noida for Towers and Sheds
Millimetre angle-and-distance work for Sector 63 sheds, Greater Noida tower sites and crowded built-up plots.
Quick AnswerOn a total station survey in Noida the instrument reads two angles and one slope distance to every target. Its controller turns each set into an easting, northing and level good to a few millimetres. Tower sites, factory sheds and construction set-out are where it earns its keep. Our Noida crew reaches most sites the day you book, and none later than the next working day. Scope and method are on our total station survey for Noida sites.
How does a total station survey in Noida work?
In a total station survey in Noida the instrument sits over a known station and sights a prism held on each point. It records the horizontal and vertical angles and the slope distance, and the point's position and height follow to a few millimetres. It needs only an unbroken sight line to the prism. It therefore keeps working where a satellite receiver fails, such as the foot of a residential tower, beneath trees or within a shed.
Our 6 total stations are rated 5 mm + 3 ppm. Over a 100 m sight that is about 5.3 mm.
How does the instrument turn angles into coordinates?
By simple trigonometry: the slope distance and vertical angle give the horizontal distance and height difference, and the bearing splits the horizontal distance into east and north components.
A worked example: the instrument reads a slope distance of 85.000 m at a zenith angle of 88° on a bearing of 60°. The horizontal distance is 85.000 × sin 88° = 84.948 m. East and north offsets are 73.567 m and 42.474 m. Take an instrument height of 1.500 m and a prism height of 1.800 m. The ground at P then stands 85.000 × cos 88° + 1.500 − 1.800 = 2.666 m above the ground at O. The controller does this for every shot; the crew's job is to keep each input honest.
Which Noida jobs suit a total station?
Built-up and construction work, where precision and line of sight matter more than covering open ground quickly.
- Industrial sheds in Phases 1–3, Sector 63 and Sector 80: measured plans for layout changes and extensions.
- Group housing construction in Noida and Greater Noida: column grids, lift cores and basement walls set out from the construction layouts and checked.
- Building line checks against the authority-approved plan before or during construction.
- Detail plans of existing buildings, drawn as a site plan for redevelopment or valuation.
Digging for basements and footings tends to come near buried cables and pipes. An underground utility survey with ground penetrating radar finds them, and its limits in the city's wet alluvial soil are explained under GPR survey in Noida details.
What changes on a live Noida construction site?
Mostly the ground under the instrument and the traffic around it. Groundwater stands close to the surface by the Yamuna and the Hindon, so deep basements here are pumped dry while they are dug. The earth around such a pit can creep downwards over days. Our stations therefore stay away from fresh cut edges and sit on firm ground or cured concrete, with a check against distant points every morning.
On busy sites, cranes, dumpers and concrete pumps cross sight lines, so the crew plans stations with the site engineer. It also wears the required safety gear and follows any permit-to-work rules the contractor runs. In the monsoon, soft wet ground makes tripods creep; short set-ups and frequent backsight checks keep that in hand.
DGPS or total station in Noida?
Most Noida jobs end up using both: satellite receivers to place the control and survey open land, the total station to handle detail and set-out. On a clear patch two or more control points are fixed by DGPS within minutes, and the total station carries on from them into the shaded and built-up corners. For the satellite side, read DGPS survey in Noida rates and scope. A fuller side-by-side is in see: DGPS vs Total Station.
Jobs and deliverables at a glance
Each job type has a defined output, agreed before the crew arrives.
| Type of work | Picked up on site | You receive |
|---|---|---|
| Plant or shed plan | Columns, pits, walls and floor heights | PDF + DWG floor plan |
| Set-out | Design coordinates pegged on the ground | Pegs and a set-out sheet |
| Building line check | As-built faces versus the sanctioned plan | Drawing of deviations |
| Detail plan | Structures, doors and windows, levels | Measured drawing with CSV point file |

Rates for total station work in Noida
Surveys go by area and set-out by the crew-day; GST is extra.
- Plot up to 1 acre: from ₹10,000
- Each extra acre: ₹3,000
- Layout / stake-out: ₹8,000 per crew-day
A 2-acre industrial plot costs ₹13,000; a 6-acre campus survey ₹25,000; two crew-days of stake-out ₹16,000. Should mobilisation or travel apply, the written quote lists it and confirms the final sum.
How do we check the accuracy on site?
With repeated observations and independent checks, so an error is found before the crew packs up.
- Backsight check: after set-up, and again before leaving, the crew re-measures the reference point.
- Two faces: control angles are read with the telescope in both positions, which cancels most instrument errors.
- Check shots: some detail points are shot a second time from another station.
- Closed loops: where stations are carried forward, the loop must close on known control.

Frequently asked questions
Will you check my plot boundary as well?
Yes, as a boundary survey measured against your authority allotment or revenue papers; that service sits under booking a land surveyor in Noida.
Does your survey settle a boundary dispute?
No: only the revenue department can demarcate officially, and the background is in see: Land Demarcation Survey in Delhi NCR.
What does reading on two faces mean?
The telescope is turned over and the same angle read again. Averaging the two readings cancels most errors in the instrument itself.
Can you measure the height of a building?
Yes; by sighting the top and base from a known station, the instrument computes the height difference by trigonometry.
Do you need electricity on site?
No, the instruments run on batteries, and spares come with the crew.
How close to a tower can you work?
Right beside it, since a total station is not affected by signal reflections the way satellite receivers are.
