JDA Jaipur GPR Survey for Sector Roads and New Schemes
Base maps of what lies under JDA sector roads, ring-road stretches and new schemes, from the walled-city fringe out to villages only now joining the region.
Quick AnswerBefore a sector road is widened, a JDA Jaipur GPR survey sets down the tube-well lines, PHED mains, feeders and fibre runs that cross the land. Built from ground penetrating radar (GPR) passes, the result is a depth-marked base map for a DPR consultant, a tender team or a site contractor. CAD layers and GIS formats are listed under details on utility mapping.
What does a JDA Jaipur utility survey involve?
It turns an authority road, scheme plot or project site into a plan of its buried water, sewer, power, telecom and gas lines. On a ground penetrating radar survey, a pulse of radio waves enters the ground and returns from each pipe or duct it meets. A locator adds the live cables, and our engineers merge both into one sheet with estimated depths, so a designer can route new work around them.
JDA dates from the Jaipur Development Authority Act, 1982, and its remit runs past the corporation limits to the whole planning region. Its work ranges from sector roads, flyovers and ring roads to residential schemes and colony regularisation. One week may bring an inner-city junction and the next an open field with a single fibre route.
How is JDA work different from corporation work?
Mostly in scale and in the age of the ground. Corporation jobs sit on old, crowded streets with decades of patched services. JDA construction projects are longer and newer, such as a sector road with services laid in one go or a flyover approach where several utilities shift together. Edge villages have no utility plans, and many surveys feed a DPR or tender. After handover, maintenance can pass to the city corporation, so we note the handover date where known.
If the road you are working on has already passed to the city, our sister page explains who to call for Jaipur Municipal Corporation utility survey work.
Why is the JDA region harder to map at its edges?
Because the region keeps growing faster than anyone's records. For years the JDA area was put at about 3,000 sq km. In 2025 the state decided to bring several hundred more villages into it. New schemes are now planned on land where the only buried assets are a tube-well line, a field drain or a long-distance cable that no local office has drawn.
On such land the scanned band is wider, a high frequency grid of cross-lines sits a few metres apart, and a passive locator listens for any conductor carrying current. This is how we detect underground cables that appear on no record. If planners are still sketching the scheme, pairing the scan with a topographic survey for Jaipur sites gives levels, plot lines and services on one base.
What does Jaipur Metro Phase 2 mean for utility work?
Roughly 41 km of north–south alignment under which every main, sewer, feeder and duct must be located and diverted before the first pile. The Union Cabinet approved Phase 2 on 8 April 2026: about 41 km from Prahladpura to Todi Mod with 36 stations, at an estimated ₹13,037 crore. Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation, a 50:50 venture of the Centre and the state, will build it, with completion targeted for September 2031. Some stations near the airport are underground.
The metro company leads that work, but much of the corridor runs along JDA roads and junctions. On a metro job we survey twice: first the station and viaduct footprint, then the route the diverted services will take. The approach is set out under smart city underground mapping at a glance.
Which JDA jobs need which survey?
The deliverable should match the purpose, so we ask what the drawing is for before we price it.
| JDA job | What we would scan | You receive |
|---|---|---|
| Designing a sector road or ring-road link | Radar band along the corridor, L-sections where services cross | CAD layer plus a list of crossings |
| Flyover or underpass ramps | Tight grid over each pier and ramp footing | Services plan and a shifting schedule |
| Fresh housing scheme | Levels survey with a utility sweep | One merged base map |
| Drain or sewer in a regularised colony | Standard radar run, chambers opened to check | Route drawing showing depths |
| Roads beside the metro | Footprint scan plus the diversion corridor | GIS layer in project coordinates |
Table note: every row can be supplied as AutoCAD or GIS; see details on utility mapping for file formats.
How much does a JDA survey cost?
Pricing is per scanned metre; a project minimum applies, and big programmes earn a lower rate.
- Standard GPR scan: ₹24 per metre
- L-section with depth profile: ₹32 per metre
- Minimum order: ₹1,00,000 per project
- Whole-order discount: 25% above 100 km, 40% above 500 km, 50% above 1,000 km
An 18 km sector road scanned at the standard rate is ₹4,32,000. Bundle 120 km of scheme roads into one order and the 100 km threshold is passed, so a quarter comes off every metre, leaving ₹18. GST is extra on all figures. Our Jaipur engineer starts scanning right after the order, never later than the following business day. Any billable travel is priced on its own quote line.
What should you send us first?
A location, a length and the reason for the survey are enough to start. A KMZ, a scheme layout or a marked-up screenshot works. Say who will use the utility data: a DPR author, a bid team or a gang starting excavation. For soil behaviour and our city crew, use see GPR survey in Jaipur; city permissions are covered in the utility survey guide for Jaipur explained.
How do new JDA schemes get a survey base?
Fresh JDA schemes start on open fields where nothing yet marks the future roads. We set permanent pillars by DGPS on JDA scheme land. A total station for plot corners and levels then picks up bunds, tube wells, culverts and the existing ground. GPR runs follow the planned sector roads on that base, so pipes and cables under a field show against the plot they will cut.
Who handles GPR survey on JDA work?
Mezux Touch: in utility survey since 2003, fielding its own people and its own 58 GPR units. Field work is never sub-let, and the business carries ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 certificates. Our crews have surveyed JDA projects under work orders from the authority itself, and for the contractors, consultants and agencies on its packages. Each line in the GPR data is graded by subsurface utility engineering practice. To price utility mapping on a JDA scheme, ask for a rate for Jaipur.
Frequently asked questions
Does JDA itself commission utility surveys?
Yes. Some of our JDA scans have come on the authority's own work orders. More often the contractor or design firm on a JDA package hires us and submits the drawing.
Can you survey farmland that is about to become a scheme?
Yes. Open land is quick to scan, and it is where buried utilities with no record, such as cables and tube-well lines, most often turn up.
Will you take on a Jaipur Metro Phase 2 diversion package?
Yes, when engaged by the package contractor or its design consultant. We map the station footprint and the diversion route, both on the project coordinate system.
Will the drawing match JDA scheme coordinates?
Yes, if you give us control points or the coordinate system. Failing that, we set our own DGPS control, and the sheet says which datum was used.
What does a 2 km job cost?
At the standard rate 2 km is ₹48,000, so it is billed at the ₹1,00,000 minimum per project, plus GST.
How far out from the city will you travel for JDA work?
All of the city and its region. For the full picture, see more on survey coverage in Jaipur.
