GDA GPR Survey for Ghaziabad Schemes, Tenders and DPRs
Utility mapping for Ghaziabad Development Authority schemes, from tender survey and DPR to HDD crossings under busy corridors.
Quick AnswerA GDA GPR survey maps what is already buried before a Ghaziabad Development Authority road, building or crossing is designed or dug. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) scans, cable tracing and existing records combine in one CAD drawing for the tender file or the site team. For how record quality is graded, here is the SUE survey at a glance.
When does a GDA project need a utility survey?
A GDA utility survey pays for itself at three moments: during DPR or tender preparation, before construction starts on a road or plot, and before any trenchless crossing. Each time it replaces assumptions with a measured drawing of the underground utilities.
At DPR stage it reveals the cables, sewers and mains a planned road, drain or flyover footing will meet, so shifting is budgeted now, not raised later as a variation. At construction it protects the contractor and the service owners, and at crossing stage it fixes a clear bore path.
Constituted under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973, the Ghaziabad Development Authority prepares the master plan, develops housing schemes and builds major civic works. The elevated road over the Hindon from Raj Nagar Extension towards the Delhi border is among its best-known construction projects.
GDA scheme or Nagar Nigam road – who owns your stretch?
Roads inside a GDA scheme stay with the authority until handover, when maintenance passes to the municipal corporation. Handover goes scheme by scheme and can take years, so one route may start on an authority road and end on a corporation road. We check site boards, layout plans and your work order, and the drawing marks each change of owner.
For stretches already with the corporation, read our page on Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam utility survey: scope, time and cost. Highways such as NH-9 sit with NHAI and need their own permission.
What goes into a tender survey for GDA work?
A tender survey gives the authority and every bidder the same picture of the ground, so prices rest on facts. For a road, drain or services package we deliver:
- The route or plot boundary with chainages at your chosen spacing.
- All utility lines found, with type, rough size and depth band.
- Manholes, valves, poles and feeder pillars with coordinates.
- A conflict list where the design meets an existing line.
- A quality level per record: drawings only, seen on GPR, traced, or exposed in a pit.
The quality-level column makes a drawing defensible when a bidder queries it. Taken from subsurface utility engineering, each grade records the method behind a line and the trust it deserves.
How do you plan HDD crossings of NH-9, the railway or the RRTS line?
Trenchless crossings in Ghaziabad pass under some of the region's busiest corridors, so the bore path is planned around services on both banks and between. The Namo Bharat RRTS follows Meerut Road with stations at Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai, and the railway and Delhi–Meerut Expressway add more crossings. Viaduct pier foundations are now on the obstacle list too.
Radar covers both pit zones, each approach and, with access, the median and service lanes. The drill operator gets a profile banding the depth of each line. With 18 HDD rigs in the group, our drafters know which depths a driller checks first, and the utility data is laid out that way. The service page carries more on HDD route survey.
What ground conditions should GDA projects expect?
Dry Hindon alluvium reads well on GPR; wet clay, fill and old pond beds do not. Radar waves, the working medium of this geophysical method, scatter in debris-raised ground and fade in wet clay, both common on newer schemes near the river. Depth range drops on most sites after the monsoon.
Antenna frequency and line spacing suit the ground, and trial pits are agreed where a record must be certain. Ground notes for the rest of the city are under GPR survey in Ghaziabad details.
What should you send before we start?
The more design we see in advance, the better the drawing. We ask for:
- The scheme name and layout plan, even an old scan.
- The stretch on a map or KMZ, with start and end.
- The proposed works: widening, drain, sewer, building or crossing.
- The deepest excavation or bore depth expected.
- Any records from service owners, however old.
- Site contacts and access hours.
Depth targets and line spacing are then fixed in the office, and any need for night work or a separate permission is flagged early.
GDA utility survey at a glance – by project stage
| Stage | What we survey | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| DPR / feasibility | Proposed corridor and key junctions | Utility layout and conflict list |
| Tender | Full stretch at agreed line spacing | CAD drawing with quality levels |
| Pre-construction | Footprint and approach roads | Marked ground and depth table |
| HDD crossing | Entry and exit pits, both approaches | Bore-path profile (L-section) |
| Handover check | Finished alignment | Updated drawing for records |
DPR topography in the same package
A DPR for a GDA scheme road needs both a topographic survey and a utility survey, often bought separately and drawn on different bases. We do them at once. DGPS sets control along the scheme, the total station records road edges, buildings, trees, poles, drains and levels, and the GPR lines sit on that base. The consultant receives one file holding existing ground, buried utilities and design coordinates. Near the RRTS corridor, a single base also simplifies clearance checks with the operator. See Ghaziabad DGPS control and topographic work by total station.
What will a GDA utility survey cost?
Standard GPR scanning is ₹24 per metre, or ₹32 per metre with an L-section. Ghaziabad is in Delhi NCR, so the minimum order is ₹50,000, and scanning opens on order day, never more than a business day later. Whole-order discounts apply on long programmes: 25% above 100 km, 40% above 500 km and 50% above 1,000 km. GST is extra.
- A 3.2 km DPR corridor at the standard rate: 3,200 m × ₹24 = ₹76,800 plus GST.
- A 400 m HDD crossing approach as an L-section: 400 m × ₹32 = ₹12,800, below the threshold, so ₹50,000 is payable. Adding it to a larger order uses the minimum better.
Our GPR survey price list shows the full card. To get a fixed figure, send us your Ghaziabad site details with a layout or KMZ.
On GDA schemes, Mezux Touch's own team carries the radar for every ground penetrating radar survey, and the work is never outsourced. GDA itself has given us orders, and we also survey for the DPR consultants and civil contractors preparing its schemes and tenders. For GDA utility mapping, a KMZ and a layout are enough to start.
Frequently asked questions
Can you work from GDA's layout plan?
Yes. A DWG or PDF layout lets us match your chainages, and the utility maps are overlaid on it.
Is a GPR scan enough for a tender drawing?
GPR plus a cable locator covers most pipes and cables. For lines the design depends on, we recommend a few trial pits so those records reach the highest quality level.
Do you survey inside group housing plots?
Yes, with the owner's or developer's access. Internal roads and services are mapped as on public roads.
Do you cover areas outside the GDA schemes?
Yes, across Ghaziabad district. For corporation roads and the outer towns, see utility line survey in Ghaziabad.
Can the same company carry out the HDD?
Yes. With 18 HDD rigs in our fleet, drilling can be priced with the survey as one package.
How deep can the survey see?
That varies with how wet the soil is and how much clay it holds. Dry alluvium gives good range; wet clay reduces it, and critical depths in the GPR data are confirmed with pits.
