Quick AnswerA Greater Noida Authority GPR survey maps the cables, pipes and ducts under GNIDA sector roads, service lanes and plots before work starts. Greater Noida's wide roads put many services in medians and verges, so live cable tracing carries equal weight with ground penetrating radar (GPR). If you are new to the methods, this explainer is worth reading first.

What does a Greater Noida Authority utility survey include?

Radar scanning, live cable and pipe tracing, chamber checks and a scaled drawing of every service along the route or across the plot. Road and drain contractors, tender consultants, power and telecom operators and land allottees request a Greater Noida Authority utility survey.

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) was set up in 1991 under the same Uttar Pradesh law that created Noida Authority. Its planned city has wide roads, large green belts and sectors named after Greek letters, such as Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta. Knowledge Park, the Ecotech industrial areas and the high-rise belt of Greater Noida West complete the picture.

What is under each part of Greater Noida?

ZoneWhat it isCommon finds
Greek-letter sectors (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta…)Early plotted residential sectorsWater, sewer, LT cables in verges; older repairs
Knowledge ParkInstitutions and the India Expo Mart areaLarge campus networks, HT feeders, fibre
Ecotech industrial areasFactory plotsHT cables, process water, effluent, gas
Greater Noida WestHigh-rise group housingLarge mains, HT cables to society substations, dense telecom
Villages within the notified areaOlder abadi with newer servicesShallow, irregular lines; few records

Table note: south of the GNIDA area, the YEIDA belt has its own conditions; see: YEIDA & Jewar Airport Area for our guide to that region.

Why is cable tracing so important here?

Wide roads and medians here carry much underground cable, and an HT strike is the most dangerous mistake on site. Noida Power Company Limited distributes power, and much of its network to sectors, institutions and societies runs underground. Telecom ducts share the corridors, and lighting circuits run in the medians.

Radar shows that something is there, but it cannot tell a live 11 kV cable from an empty duct. Every metallic cable is therefore traced with an electromagnetic locator, actively where we can connect and passively where we cannot. Read what we do: underground cable detection for how cables are separated on site and how confidence is recorded.

How do medians and service lanes change the survey?

They spread services across a far wider cross-section than older cities have, so we scan the full width, not only the work line. A main road may have a median, two carriageways, service lanes, footpaths and green belts. Supply mains tend to follow the green belt, power cables the median or verge, and telecom ducts the footpath edge.

  • Cross-lines span the whole right of way where access allows
  • Each strip (median, carriageway, verge) is labelled on the utility maps
  • Crossings between strips, often at junctions and cuts in the median, get extra lines
  • Green belts are scanned between tree roots for buried utilities, with limits noted

The ground is Yamuna–Hindon alluvium. Timing radar echoes is the geophysical core of GPR, and this soil returns clear reflected signals except where low ground and drains hold water. More on local soil, crews and access is in our page to read about GPR survey in Greater Noida.

How do we work safely on Greater Noida's fast roads?

By planning traffic as carefully as the scan. Wide, straight roads invite speed, and a crew pushing a radar cart is exposed. Our teams work under an ISO 45001 safety system, which means fixed habits:

  • Lane-by-lane scanning behind cones, signs and a lookout
  • High-visibility clothing for everyone on the road
  • Busy carriageways crossed at low-traffic times, or at night if the road owner prefers
  • Medians entered only from protected gaps

Where formal traffic management is required, the client arranges the permission and we work within it. Night work is quoted separately, as it changes the crew plan and time.

What do builders in Greater Noida West need before construction?

A clear picture of the services along the plot frontage and any that cross the site. High-rise societies need large connections, and the sector roads serving them often predate the towers. For a new tower, boundary change or external works package, we scan the frontage and service corridor and show where each connection can enter safely. When internal roads are rebuilt, we also map the utility lines between blocks, laid by different contractors in each phase. For tender drawings needing a confidence grade per line, we use the SUE survey quality levels.

What does a Greater Noida utility survey cost?

Greater Noida is in Delhi NCR, so the lower ₹50,000 minimum applies, and radar reaches site on order day, or a business day later at most. Our rates are ₹24 per metre for a standard GPR scan and ₹32 per metre for an L-section with depth profile; outside the NCR, the minimum is ₹1,00,000. Whole orders above 100 km get 25% off, above 500 km 40% and above 1,000 km 50%. GST is extra.

For example, scanning the full right of way of a 3.5 km main road at the standard rate costs ₹84,000 plus GST. An Ecotech plot with 600 metres of scan lines for construction projects would be billed at the minimum. Use the quote form for Greater Noida to send the route or plot location.

Large plots in the Ecotech areas

Ecotech and institutional plots in Greater Noida often run to several hectares, and their gates, drains and frontage services are fixed long before the building design. We set DGPS control on the plot, carry it along the frontage road with a total station, and record boundary pillars, culverts, chamber covers and the median edge. The radar lines sit on that survey with levels, so an architect can place a gate or sewer connection with confidence. The data also fits the Authority's sector plans and can be handed back without redrawing. Read about DGPS for large plots and frontage survey by total station.

Who carries out GPR survey on GNIDA projects?

Mezux Touch's own crews run each ground penetrating radar survey with the company's 58 GPR systems. No outside team does any field work. Some jobs are the Authority's own work orders, placed with us directly. Others come from the road builders, fibre operators, consultants and allottees developing its sectors. We have done utility surveys since 2003. For Greater Noida utility mapping, send the sector or plot number through the quote form.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work on the boundary between GNIDA and YEIDA?

Yes. We confirm which authority owns each stretch, then survey both sides as one job if needed. For the YEIDA side, see YEIDA utility survey for Greater Noida sites.

Can you trace cables inside a high-rise society?

Yes, with the society's permission. Utility detection starts at substations and feeder pillars and follows each cable to its block.

What about the villages inside the Authority area?

Village lanes have shallow, irregular services and few records, so we scan close lines to detect underground connections and check every chamber we can open.

Can you scan a Knowledge Park campus?

Yes. Campus pipes and cables are scanned on a grid under the institution's access rules.

How long is a typical sector road job?

A few kilometres of road is often one or two field days, with the drawing and GPR data a few working days later.

Do you mark lines on wide roads at night?

Marking is done in daylight. Night scanning can be arranged where traffic requires it.
