Bengaluru East City Corporation GPR Survey in Whitefield
Radar scans, quality-graded utility drawings and lake-edge surveys for Whitefield, Mahadevapura, KR Puram and the Outer Ring Road belt.
Quick AnswerA Bengaluru East City Corporation GPR survey maps the underground utilities under roads from KR Puram and Mahadevapura to Whitefield, Marathahalli and Bellandur before trenching, boring or widening. The east mixes tech campuses, lake margins and fast-growing former villages, so line density and ground change quickly. Campus, public and lake-drain lines sit on separate layers, as described in details on CAD and GIS utility mapping.
What is a Bengaluru East City Corporation utility survey for?
It records the BWSSB pipes, lake-feeding drains, BESCOM and campus cables, gas mains and fibre along a line east of the core, so new work can steer round them. Each line found by ground penetrating radar (GPR) or the locator gets a plan position, a depth estimate and a probable owner. It is then sprayed or pegged on the surface.
The East body was notified on 2 September 2025 under the 2024 Greater Bengaluru Governance Act. It is the largest of the five by area, at about 168 square kilometres. It has the fewest wards, only 50, because much of its land is still open and changing fast. Its two zones, Mahadevapura and KR Puram, are run from Mahadevapura.
Where does the East corporation begin and end?
It covers the KR Puram and Mahadevapura areas, from Horamavu and Ramamurthy Nagar in the north to Bellandur, Panathur and Gunjur in the south. It reaches out to Whitefield, Kadugodi and Varthur, and its western edge starts near Koramangala. Ward names such as Hoodi, Kundalahalli, Marathahalli, Dooravaninagar and Vijinapura show its spread.
A corridor running west into the old core keeps the same field work under different paperwork. Those inner stretches fall under booking a Bengaluru Central City Corporation utility survey, yet the route is still quoted as one job.
What do the tech campuses add underground?
A dense layer of private power, fibre and water lines that meets the public network at every campus gate. Large office parks line the Outer Ring Road between Marathahalli and Bellandur and the Whitefield area around ITPL. Each runs its own HT cables, fuel lines, chilled-water pipes and fibre, and many cross the public road to substations or neighbouring buildings.
Lines left behind when frontages moved are a particular trap. A cable that once ran outside a compound wall may now sit under the widened carriageway, still live and unmarked. A passive locator sweep of every frontage before radar work gives real time warning of such cables, even when nobody remembers them.
Metro work has added more change. The Purple Line reached Whitefield (Kadugodi) in 2023. The Blue Line along the Outer Ring Road towards KR Puram has been under construction, with diversions at each pier and station.
Why do lake edges need special care?
Much of the east was built around a chain of lakes and valleys, and the ground near them is soft, wet and crossed by large drains. Bellandur and Varthur lakes are the best known. Their storm drains cross many roads, and land near their edges is often fill over former marsh or tank bed.
GPR is a geophysical method, and its electromagnetic waves fade fast in wet made ground with high electrical conductivity. Rubble in the fill also returns false echoes from buried objects that are not services. Locator tracing, chamber inspection and trial pits carry more weight here, and the drawing shows which lines were confirmed and which inferred. Drier red-soil ground elsewhere behaves differently; read more on GPR survey in Bengaluru.
Do big tenders in the east need quality-graded drawings?
ORR widening, lake-drain and corridor contracts often do, because the designer must weigh how far each plotted line can be trusted. Subsurface utility engineering grades each line by its evidence. The grade rises from a record alone, through visible fittings and radar or locator detection, to a pipe seen in an open pit. You can find details of SUE survey on our site; a contractor's dig plan needs only a plain marked drawing.

How does the method change across the east?
Expect the method to change between campuses, lake margins, old village cores and the main corridors.
| Eastern belt | What lies beneath | Survey approach |
|---|---|---|
| Outer Ring Road, Marathahalli to Bellandur | Tech-park HT cables, bundled fibre, Blue Line diversions | Continuous strip with cross passes at each campus gate |
| Whitefield, Hoodi, Kadugodi | Bulk water mains alongside private park services | Passive locator sweep, radar run both ways |
| Bellandur and Varthur lake margins | Big storm-water drains in soft filled ground | Drain walls mapped, pits at every key crossing |
| KR Puram, Horamavu, Ramamurthy Nagar | Old layouts and village cores full of plot connections | Radar wheeled by hand down lanes, manholes opened |

What does the survey cost?
Standard GPR scanning is ₹24 per metre and the L-section rate is ₹32 per metre, with a minimum of ₹1,00,000 on each Bengaluru project. Travel or mobilisation, if chargeable, appears separately in the quotation. The whole-order discount is 25% above 100 km, 40% above 500 km and 50% above 1,000 km, and GST comes on top. An L-section along 7.5 km of Outer Ring Road frontage totals ₹2,40,000 before GST, while one campus gate crossing sits inside the project floor. Our engineer for the east works from home in Bengaluru, so jobs open once the order is confirmed, with one business day as the outer limit.
Can lake buffer lines be shown on the utility drawing?
Yes. Give us the buffer or lake boundary, and our surveyors mark it and plot every service against it. Many east-side works near Bellandur and Varthur run close to lake edges and drains, and designers must know which lines sit inside the buffer. Control from DGPS work in East Bengaluru stakes the boundary you supply. A total station topographic pick-up records the bund, drain edges and spot levels, with radar results drawn on top. We survey the buffer line you provide and do not decide its width.
Who carries out GPR survey for the East corporation?
Mezux Touch's own engineers, on company-owned radar, do the job end to end, and no field work has gone to sub-contractors since 2003. East jobs include direct work orders from Bengaluru East City Corporation. Campus owners, contractors, utilities and consultants on its construction projects commission us too. Frequently asked questions
Will the survey continue past the gate into a tech park?
Yes, once the owner agrees. Private and public utility lines then appear in different colours on one drawing.
Do you work in villages beyond the corporation's edge?
Yes. For areas beyond the limits, see survey coverage in Bengaluru details.
Can levels and site features go on the same drawing?
Yes. Kerbs, levels and road furniture can be picked up in the same frame; read the topographic survey process step by step.
Is radar any good near Bellandur lake?
On wet made ground its reach drops. A ground penetrating radar survey there adds locator tracing, chamber checks and trial pits.
Can you scan on the Outer Ring Road during the day?
Sometimes, with traffic cover. On the busiest stretches the GPR data is collected at night by arrangement.
How soon will the drawing arrive?
Short routes are drawn up soon after the last scan; long corridors are sent section by section as each one is finished.
