Quick AnswerOn GIFT City piling rigs and shaded sector campuses alike, a total station survey in Gandhinagar fixes each target optically from a coordinated station. It pegs pile centres, column grids and walls, or maps detail the avenue canopy hides from GNSS. Rated precision is 5 mm + 3 ppm. We charge pegging per crew-day and mapping per acre, and our locally based surveyor can start immediately or within 1 working day of your sign-off. Details: total station survey for Gandhinagar sites.

Why do builders in the capital book a total station survey in Gandhinagar?

Two things: putting a building's design onto the ground (set-out), and measuring detail in places where satellite receivers cannot see enough sky. Both matter in Gandhinagar. Construction in and around GIFT City, new government and institutional buildings, and warehouses on the Kalol side all need piles and columns pegged exactly where the structural drawing places them. Meanwhile the capital's thick avenue trees and large shaded campuses make satellite-only detail surveys unreliable under the canopy.

How is a pile or column set out?

The office first works out, for every pile, a direction and a range from one of the site pillars. On site the instrument sights a second pillar to fix its zero and swings to the computed direction. The chainman then walks the prism in until the range matches.

A real set-out session follows a routine. The crew checks the station against a third control point before starting, pegs a batch of piles, measures between pegs as an independent check and then records the as-set positions. If any peg is more than the agreed tolerance away from its design position, it is reset before the rig arrives. For large podiums the same process repeats at each level, with column lines transferred upwards from control on the ground.

Which Gandhinagar sites does this suit?

  • GIFT City towers and podiums: pile groups, column grids and lift cores, tied to the site's own grid.
  • Campus and government buildings in the sectors: foundations and boundary walls set to the sanctioned setbacks.
  • Warehouses around Kalol and towards Sanand: long steel sheds where column lines must stay straight over 100 m or more.
  • Housing in the newer sectors: plot-by-plot set-out of foundations and compound walls.
  • Shaded plots: detail surveys under trees, where every tree is also recorded.

What does 5 mm + 3 ppm mean on a long warehouse?

The rated distance error is a fixed 5 mm plus 3 mm for every kilometre of sight, so a 150 m sight carries an error of about 5.5 mm. On a long shed, the bigger risk is an angle error that grows with distance. The crew therefore sets out long column lines from both ends and checks the middle, not everything from one corner. Construction layouts on Kalol warehouses follow the same rule. In the sandy alluvium around Gandhinagar, pegs can loosen when nearby trenches are dug, so reference pegs are placed well outside the excavation and positions are re-checked before concrete.

How do we work on tree-filled campuses?

By threading a chain of stations between the trunks, so that every building corner, path and tree can be seen from at least one station. Large institutional plots in the sectors often have decades-old trees that nobody wants to lose. The survey is often the first step in deciding where a new block can go without cutting any of them. Each tree is recorded with its position, trunk girth and canopy spread, and with its species where the campus gardener can name it. That traverse opens and closes on pillars set in a sunny lawn or a parking bay, which keeps the shaded campus plan on genuine coordinates throughout.

Indoors, the same method maps halls, corridors and service shafts for refurbishment, tied through the doorways to the site grid outside.

What comes with the job?

Three things: the plan, its coordinate file, and proof of where each peg went. For detail surveys you receive a layered DWG and PDF with buildings, roads, drains, poles and trees, plus a coordinate list. For set-out you receive an as-set sheet listing each pile or column with design coordinates, marked coordinates and the difference in millimetres. No pillars yet? They can be put in through getting a DGPS survey in Gandhinagar done right; if the stormwater design needs heights as well, book a topographic survey in Gandhinagar. Before piling near existing roads, read about GPR survey in Gandhinagar to avoid hitting services. For a project across the state line, see the total station survey in Jaipur process step by step.

  • Mobilisation, if it applies: a separate line in the quote.

GST is charged on top; once agreed, the written quote does not change for that scope. Attach the structural layout or plot plan with your piling schedule, then talk to our team about Gandhinagar.

Frequently asked questions

Can you transfer column lines up a building?

Yes, from ground control to each slab, with checks against the previous floor.

What tolerance do you set out to?

Whatever the structural engineer specifies; the as-set sheet shows the achieved difference for every point.

Do you also confirm the property line?

Yes – boundary questions go to our Private Land Surveyor in Gandhinagar service, working from the revenue papers.

How are long chains of stations checked?

By closing them on known control. See: Total Station Traverse.

Can you work inside GIFT City?

We do, after the zone's gate passes and safety induction are sorted.

Can you survey under trees without cutting branches?

Yes. The instrument only needs a sight line, which can almost always be found between trunks.
