Quick AnswerThis GPR survey cost calculator multiplies your route length by ₹24 per metre (standard) or ₹32 per metre (L-section). It takes off any whole-order discount above 100 km and applies the minimum order: ₹50,000 in Delhi NCR or ₹1,00,000 elsewhere in India. GST at 18% is shown separately. To compare the full rate card, see GPR survey rates.

Work out your GPR survey cost

Set where the job is, key in the metres to be scanned and select a survey type, and the figures refresh with every keystroke. For a route of 5 km, enter 5000. If one order has several routes, add their lengths together, because the minimum order and the discount slabs both apply to the whole order.

How does the GPR survey cost calculator work out the price?

It follows our published rate card in four steps: length times rate, minus any whole-order discount, then the minimum order check, then GST on top. Ground penetrating radar is a survey technique that maps underground utilities from reflected pulses, and it is billed by the metre of scan line.

  1. Rate: the GPR survey rate per meter is ₹24 for a standard survey, or ₹32 where you need an L-section (a longitudinal profile showing depths along the route).
  2. Discount: if the whole order is above 100 km, the rate is reduced by 25%; above 500 km by 40%; above 1,000 km by 50%. Once a slab is crossed, the reduction covers every metre of the order, including those below the threshold.
  3. Minimum order: if the value after discount is below ₹50,000 for a Delhi NCR job, or ₹1,00,000 for a job elsewhere in India, the minimum is charged instead.
  4. GST: tax at 18% sits on a separate row beneath the amount, leaving the pre-tax value visible for your accounts staff.

There is no separate kilometre minimum. A short job in Delhi NCR pays the ₹50,000 minimum, which at the standard rate covers up to about 2.08 km of scanning. Ground conditions and deliverables also shape the GPR survey cost India-wide; see our GPR survey cost and GPR price in India details. If you are new to the method itself, read more about GPR scanning.

How do you measure the length to enter?

Use the length of every line the crew will scan, in metres, including pit areas and crossings, not only the straight distance between two points. Draw the route in Google Earth with the path tool and read the length, or take it from your route drawing, BOQ or existing records.

  • For a duct or cable route, enter the full route length, including bends and road crossings.
  • For an HDD job, add the bore length plus a margin for scanning around the entry and exit pits.
  • For an area such as a plant yard, a rough guide is the number of scan lines times their length; the engineer will confirm the grid with you.
  • For several separate routes in one order, add them all together.

If you only have a kilometre figure, multiply by 1,000. A 12.5 km route is 12500 in the calculator.

Three worked examples

The table below shows how the same formula plays out on a short city job, a mid-sized state job and a long national corridor.

ExampleCalculationAmountGST 18%Total
1,500 m standard scan in Delhi NCR1,500 × ₹24 = ₹36,000, short of the ₹50,000 NCR floor₹50,000₹9,000₹59,000
40 km L-section beyond the NCR40,000 × ₹32 = ₹12,80,000; under 100 km, so nothing is deducted₹12,80,000₹2,30,400₹15,10,400
650 km standard scan beyond the NCR6,50,000 × ₹24 = ₹1,56,00,000, with 40% (₹62,40,000) taken off₹93,60,000₹16,84,800₹1,10,44,800

Discount slabs matter most on long corridors such as expressways, rail lines and gas trunk routes. See Big Infrastructure Projects in India That Need GPR Survey for work at that scale.

In the first example the minimum decides the price. The second passes the minimum but stays short of the first discount slab. The third crosses 500 km, so the whole length is priced at 40% off.

What is not included in the estimate?

What the tool prices is radar fieldwork at card rates; anything tied to a particular site is added in the quotation after we have seen the route. These are the ones that most often apply:

  • Traffic permission and traffic management: lane closures, barricading and police coordination on busy roads.
  • Night work: needed when the road authority or traffic police permit the crew on the carriageway only after dark.
  • CAD or GIS deliverables: a full CAD drawing or GIS data set may be priced in addition to the field survey, depending on the format and detail you need.
  • Road-cutting or RoW permission fees charged by the road-owning agency.
  • Trial pits, vacuum excavation and restoration to confirm marked lines at Quality Level A.

For an NCR site, expect the crew on confirmation day, or a business day later at most. The written quotation lists each item, so nothing appears for the first time on the invoice. On large construction projects, these extras are small next to the cost of accidental utility strikes.

How can you keep the cost down?

Bundle several routes into one order, supply tidy alignment drawings, and pay for L-sections only on the stretches that need them. Small jobs pay the minimum order, so grouping nearby routes into one visit often costs the same as doing one. Clear drawings with chainages and pit positions cut site time. For a long programme, one order for the whole corridor may cross a slab that piecemeal orders would miss.

Standard or L-section: which should you choose?

Choose standard GPR when you need services marked on plan with approximate depths; choose L-section when a designer or driller needs a continuous depth profile. HDD crossings, deep duct routes and tenders that ask for longitudinal sections are the common reasons to pay the higher rate, because civil engineering teams design from those profiles. If you are unsure, run the calculator both ways and ask us which the client specification calls for.

Happy with the estimate? Then use our quote form to submit the route, and a formal quotation follows in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Is the calculator price final?

It is an estimate based on the published rate card. The final figure is confirmed in a written quotation after we review the route, access and deliverables.

Why does a short job cost the minimum order?

However short the route, a crew still has to bring its equipment to site. That is why the floor is ₹50,000 inside Delhi NCR and ₹1,00,000 in the rest of India, with GST added.

Does the discount apply only above the slab?

No. When the order total goes beyond 100 km, 500 km or 1,000 km, the corresponding percentage comes off every metre in it.

Is there a minimum length in kilometres?

No. There is only the minimum order value. A small job pays the minimum, whatever the length.

What is an L-section survey?

A survey that adds a longitudinal depth profile along the route, at ₹32 per metre. Read what we do: l-section GPR survey for details.

Is GST included in the amount?

No. The calculator adds 18% GST as a separate row after the amount.
