Quick AnswerTopographic survey cost in India at our 2026 rates starts at a ₹15,000 minimum for a plot up to 1 acre. Per-acre slabs apply above that, road strips are priced per km, and GST is extra. Ground cover, level spacing and deliverables move the final figure. Read more before booking a topographic survey.

What does a topographic survey cost in India in 2026?

These rates apply across India for November 2026, and GST is extra on every figure. The final figure for your land is confirmed in writing after we check its position, its size and the reason for the drawing.

Site typeOur rate (GST extra)Typical example
Plot up to 1 acreFrom ₹15,000House plot, school extension, petrol pump site
1–10 acres₹4,000 per acre, ₹15,000 minimumWarehouse, group housing, factory
Above 10 acres₹2,500 for each acre beyond 10 (first 10 at ₹4,000)Logistics park, township block, solar farm
Road or route strip₹15,000 per kmVillage road, drain, pipeline corridor
Contour survey only₹15,000 minimum; ₹3,500 per acre for 1–10 acres; ₹2,000 for each acre beyond 10Levelling, drainage or earthwork study

A topographic drawing shows manhole covers and valve chambers, not the pipes and cables between them. Anyone planning to dig on the plot should first learn about Call Before You Dig in India.

How do the numbers work out on real sites?

Multiply the area by the slab rate, compare it with the starting charge, and add any mobilisation/travel cost that applies.

A half-acre house plot in Gurugram falls below 1 acre, so the starting charge of ₹15,000 applies. A 5-acre warehouse site near Palwal is 5 × ₹4,000 = ₹20,000, and 10 acres of group housing land in Greater Noida come to 10 × ₹4,000 = ₹40,000. A 2 km link road in Sonipat district works out at 2 × ₹15,000 = ₹30,000.

A 2- or 3-acre site comes to less than ₹15,000 at the slab rate, so the minimum applies. Beyond 10 acres only the extra acres drop to ₹2,500: a 50-acre site is 10 × ₹4,000 + 40 × ₹2,500 = ₹1,40,000.

What pushes the price up or down?

Area sets the base price, while ground cover, level density and deliverables decide whether the job stays at that rate. When two quotes for the same land differ widely, one of these points is the reason.

  1. Ground cover and level density. Bare land is quick, while standing sugarcane, scrub or debris needs more set-ups. Spot levels every 5 m also mean four times the points of a 10 m grid, so agree the spacing first.
  2. Feature list. A full pick-up of trees, numbered poles and manhole inverts costs more than boundary and levels.
  3. Control. A tie to Survey of India's reference station service2 takes longer than an assumed datum but lets the drawing match a master plan.
  4. Deliverables. A 2D site plan with contour lines is standard; sections and volumes add office time.
  5. Location. Our surveyors live in the cities they cover, so a site far from Faridabad starts as quickly as one nearby. Where mobilisation or travel applies the quote prices it on a separate line.

Per acre, per km or per day: which way should you be charged?

Per acre suits defined plots and per km suits strips and corridors. Per crew-day suits construction layouts whose scope changes daily: ₹8,000 per crew-day, or ₹1,20,000 per month for a full-time site surveyor with instrument.

Our drone survey begins at ₹40,000 a site for up to 25 acres, with ₹1,500 added per further acre, and may undercut ground work on open land. A drone sees crop and tree tops, so heights under cover and at kerbs still need ground checks. On 15–25 acres of farmland it is worth asking for both prices.

Which extras should you ask about before you sign?

Ask what the price includes for contours, control, revisits, travel and underground services, since these items most often reappear later as "extra".

  • Contour interval: engineering lecture notes place the interval for building sites and detailed design at 0.2–0.5 m1. If contours are the main purpose, our contour survey team can price them separately.
  • Underground services: buried cables and pipes need a GPR scan at ₹24 per metre (minimum ₹50,000 in Delhi NCR, ₹1,00,000 elsewhere, GST extra). To see that layer, learn about GPR survey deliverables.

Gurugram sites often justify levels, features, contours and services in a single visit. Crew and timing details for that city sit on who to call for topographic survey in Gurugram.

How does it compare with other survey charges?

A levels-and-features drawing sits mid-range: dearer than a boundary check because it adds levels and features, cheaper than drone LiDAR or a full route survey. Typical land survey charges for the alternatives are:

  • Land survey or demarcation: from ₹8,000 per plot up to 1 acre, plus ₹2,000 per extra acre; boundary and area only. Jobs that start from khasra or killa entries get a price after we study those papers.
  • DGPS survey: the DGPS survey rate is from ₹12,000 up to 1 acre and ₹2,500 per acre for 1–5 acres, for corner and control coordinates.
  • Total station survey: from ₹10,000 up to 1 acre, plus ₹3,000 per extra acre.
  • As-built survey: from ₹20,000 per site up to 5,000 sq m, then ₹3 per sq m.
  • Route survey with cross-sections every 25 m: ₹12,000 per km, minimum ₹50,000.
  • Drone LiDAR: ₹2,500 per acre, minimum ₹1,50,000, for wooded land.

How fast is the work, and what is delivered?

Our crew for Delhi NCR plots turns up the day you book or, failing that, the next working day. Drawings come back no later than 3 working days after the fieldwork. Outside NCR, the team member resident in your area begins work at once or within 1 working day.

The drawing set is a DWG plus a print-ready PDF showing boundary, features, spot levels and contours. A point file (Excel or CSV) and a Google Earth overlay travel with it. Corner and control positions, taken by a GPS receiver working off a base station, carry a centimetre or two of uncertainty. Auto-level runs from a benchmark close to ±2.5 mm per km. All of it runs on our own kit: four DGPS sets, six total stations, six auto levels and two RTK mapping drones.

How do you get an exact quote quickly?

Send the location pin or KMZ, the rough area, the purpose and any required format or grid (WGS-84, UTM or project), and the quote can go out the same day.

Once those are to hand, ask about your project and a written figure follows.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum charge for a topographic survey?

₹15,000 plus GST for a plot up to 1 acre. The same figure is the floor for small sites priced at the per-acre rate.

Is GST included in the rates?

No, all rates exclude GST, which is shown separately on the quotation and invoice.

Why do survey quotes vary so much?

Level spacing, feature lists, control ties and deliverables all differ, so compare quotes item by item, not only by the total.

Is a drone survey cheaper than a ground survey?

On large open land it can be, since ours starts at ₹40,000 for up to 25 acres, but ground checks are still needed under trees and crops.

Does the drawing show underground pipes?

No, only surface features such as manhole covers. Buried services need radar scanning; see GPR scanning at a glance.

Is there an extra charge outside Delhi NCR?

There can be a mobilisation or travel line, and if so the quotation shows it separately. With a surveyor living locally, field work begins at once or on the next working day.

How is a road survey priced?

At ₹15,000 per km for a topographic strip. A route survey with 25 m cross-sections is ₹12,000 per km, minimum ₹50,000.
