Quick AnswerA topographic survey in Agartala records spot heights, contours, ponds, drains and site features from the crown of a tilla down to the wet lunga below. Every value is referred to MSL. It shows which parts of a plot stay dry, where water collects and how much cut or fill a design needs. Sites of up to an acre are priced from ₹15,000 plus GST, and the local surveyor can begin at once or within one working day. Service overview: topographic survey for Agartala sites.

What shapes a topographic survey in Agartala?

Two landforms: the tilla, a low hillock with firmer, better-drained ground on top, and the lunga, the narrow valley floor between tillas that drains slowly and floods first. The survey records how high each part of a site sits above those valley floors, so that buildings, roads and drains are placed with water in mind.

Agartala itself sits low, around 13 m above MSL, with the Haora — known locally as the Saidra — flowing right across it. In heavy monsoon spells the river rises and low-lying neighbourhoods go under water. A plot can look dry in February and stand in water in July; the survey's job is to show which parts are likely to.

What does the drawing record?

Heights and contour lines, plus anything on the plot that directs run-off or gets in the way of a foundation.

  • Spot levels on a regular grid, with extra points along tilla edges and lunga floors.
  • Contours, normally at 0.5 m, tighter on flat lunga ground.
  • Ponds and their banks, which are common on Agartala plots.
  • Drains, culverts and road levels at the access.
  • Buildings, boundary walls, large trees and bamboo clumps.

Illustration: a typical Agartala section. Tilla tops stay dry and lunga floors can hold water in the monsoon. A building pad on the tilla shoulder needs cut above and fill below, both measured from the surveyed levels.

How do we size the earthwork on a tilla plot?

We lay the design levels over the measured surface and read the difference off a series of sections. Building on a tilla shoulder normally means cutting the slope above the pad and filling below it. Filling a lunga plot raises it above the water but pushes that water somewhere else, often onto the neighbour. Both decisions depend on accurate levels. From the digital terrain model we give cut and fill volumes and sections, so the contractor, the designer and the owner can test options before trucks are booked.

Why do ponds need extra attention?

Because a filled pond is soft ground that can settle for years, and its old edge is easy to lose. Many Agartala plots hold a family pond or the remains of one. Before filling, we record the bank line, the water level and the bed where it can be reached. That gives the fill volume and a permanent record of the pond's position on the site plan. That record helps a structural engineer decide whether a footing needs to go deeper or avoid the old pond area altogether.

Why tie every level to one datum?

Because flood marks, road levels and design levels must all be measured from the same zero. Our marks come from satellite sessions, with heights reduced to MSL through a geoid model. Each auto-level loop must then return to a mark whose height is already known. Setting those marks is explained on DGPS survey in Agartala by Mezux Touch. Under rubber and bamboo, or round houses, the instrument crew takes over; read how our total station survey in Agartala works for crowded plots.

Which Agartala jobs need it most?

Building plots on tilla slopes, low land being raised, drainage and road projects, and estate plots. Smart City works have brought new drains and roads to many streets, and private building alongside them needs plinths that clear the new road level. Plots in the Bodhjungnagar industrial area need floor levels and drainage outfalls, and their construction layouts are later pegged from our marks. If a new drain or sump must pass under live cables, read about GPR survey in Agartala first; any radar job starts at ₹1,00,000. Mizoram's capital is far steeper ground: see the topographic survey in Aizawl process step by step.

When should you book, and what does it cost?

A site of up to an acre costs from ₹15,000. Between 1 and 10 acres the rate is ₹4,000 an acre, falling to ₹2,500 an acre beyond 10, and strips along roads or drains are ₹15,000 a km. GST is added.

  • Up to 1 acre: from ₹15,000.
  • 1–10 acres: ₹4,000 per acre; a 4-acre plot with two tillas and a pond is ₹16,000.
  • Above 10 acres: ₹2,500 per acre.
  • Road or drain strip: ₹15,000 per km.
  • Travel, if it applies: shown in the quote.

The best window is the drier months, roughly November to March, when lunga floors and pond banks can be walked. Close to 2,100 mm falls in a normal year, and the bulk comes in the seven months from April. Survey in the wet season is possible, but standing water hides true ground levels. We then record the water level and its date, and take bed levels where it is safe.

After you approve, our Agartala-based surveyor begins on the tilla or lunga land straight away or within a working day. The sheets need around three more days once levels are taken. Send us your Agartala site details, stating the acreage and the building you have in mind.

Frequently asked questions

Will the survey show if my land goes under water?

We show its levels against the surrounding ground, drains and any recorded flood marks; that indicates risk but is not a flood study.

Do you survey ponds on the plot?

Yes. Banks, water level and, where safe, bed levels, so the pond volume can be calculated.

Can you mark the boundary at the same time?

Yes, with our Private Land Surveyor in Agartala service on the same visit.

What is included in a topographic survey?

Heights, contour lines and physical features; for a fuller answer, read: what is a topographical survey.

What contour interval suits lunga land?

A quarter or a half metre; lunga floors are almost level, so wider spacing shows nothing.

Can you tell us how much earth to bring in?

Yes — give us the finished levels and we report fill and cut volumes, with sections across the building pad.
