Quick AnswerA topographic survey in Lucknow reads spot levels at short, regular spacings and threads contour lines at 0.25 m or tighter through them. Walls, trees, poles and drains are plotted alongside. Across the level Gomti country, plinth and drainage design hang on exactly those figures. Plots up to 1 acre start at ₹15,000 plus GST; a mobilisation charge, if one applies, appears in the written quote. How the service works in general: topographic survey for Lucknow sites.

What ends up on the sheet from a topographic survey in Lucknow?

Closely spaced spot heights, contours traced from them, and each wall, tree, pole, drain and kerb drawn on one plan. On ground as level as the Gomti plain, it is normally those heights that prompt a client to commission the work.

An architect takes the plinth height from this site plan; a civil engineer grades sewers and carriageways off it. A developer works out the lorry-loads of soil to import or remove. Banks and purchasers occasionally want a copy as well, to learn whether the plot lies in a dip.

How flat is Lucknow, and why does that matter?

Extremely flat. The city lies at roughly 120 m above sea level on Gomti alluvium, and the drop across an ordinary plot is often far less than a metre. That makes small numbers important. A difference of 15 or 20 cm decides whether rain leaves a site by gravity or ponds against the boundary wall. Out on the cultivated fringe, former bunds and back-filled brick-kiln pits ripple the surface in ways a walker would hardly see.

Our staff therefore read ground levels on a dense mesh, commonly at 5 m or 10 m spacing, and the contour interval is 0.25 m or less. A sparse survey with a 1 m contour interval, perfectly normal in hilly towns, would show a Lucknow plot as a blank.

Older neighbourhoods add a second problem. Each time a road is resurfaced over the old one its crown rises a little, and many houses built decades ago now sit below the street in front of them. A survey that records the road crown, the gate threshold and the floor level side by side shows at once whether rebuilding needs a higher plinth.

Which Lucknow sites need levels most?

Land near water, large paved yards and farmland being turned into colonies.

  • Riverside plots on the Gomti flood plain, whose owners want their surface checked against a level handed down by the engineer or the authority.
  • Land beside the Kukrail nala, the channel carrying much of the city's run-off into the Gomti.
  • Warehouse and truck yards around Amausi and Sarojini Nagar, where a paved area needs a steady fall to its outlets.
  • Former fields being laid out as housing off Sultanpur Road and Raebareli Road, where road and sewer gradients follow from the survey.

Before trenches are opened on any of these sites, look at GPR survey in Lucknow details; a level plan says nothing about the mains and cables lying underneath.

How are cut, fill and plinth level worked out?

From the level grid: the engineer fixes a finished level, and the difference at every grid point gives the depth of cut or fill. Multiply the average difference by the area and you have the cut and fill volume; on large sites the same sum runs on a digital terrain model. Raising a 1-acre plot (4,047 sq m) by an average of 45 cm takes about 1,820 cubic metres of fill, which means many lorry-loads. The same grid tells the architect how high the plinth must sit above the crown of the road in front. Later, the construction layouts are pegged from the same satellite marks.

Owners with land on Bihar's Ganga plain face that question at a far bigger scale, covered under how long a topographic survey in Patna takes.

In what order does the field team work?

Satellite control comes first, heights second and features last. We first put down a minimum of two satellite-fixed marks, using the routine on our DGPS survey in Lucknow page, and connect them to any benchmark nearby. Auto-level runs then carry heights across the site, each loop shutting to ±2.5 mm per km or better, before a total station collects the features. Congested old-city plots are dealt with in total station survey in Lucknow: scope, time and cost. For large open parcels a drone survey covers the ground faster, with spot checks on foot.

Rates for a topographic survey in Lucknow

Plots up to 1 acre start at ₹15,000, and the per-acre rate falls as the site grows.

  • Up to 1 acre: from ₹15,000
  • 1–10 acres: ₹4,000 per acre
  • Above 10 acres: ₹2,500 per acre
  • Road or route strip: ₹15,000 per km
  • Mobilisation, if applicable: a line in the written quote

GST is extra, and the written quote fixes the final figure. With a surveyor based in Lucknow, levels near the Kukrail nala or on Kanpur Road start the same day as your sign-off or within one working day. Finished sheets follow roughly three working days after the last field reading. Enter a map pin, the plot size and the purpose of the levels in the quote form for Lucknow. Frequently asked questions

Could a flood mark be added to my plan?

Yes, once the engineer or the authority supplies the figure. We draw it beside our measured heights, but we never work out flood levels ourselves.

Are heights given above MSL or above some local zero?

Above MSL whenever we can manage it. Where no benchmark lies close, a geoid model supplies the conversion and the sheet says so.

How many days are spent on site?

A 1-acre plot takes about a day; a 10-acre layout takes three or four, depending on trees and structures.

Does the plan confirm my recorded boundary?

No; it records physical features as found. To compare them with the khatauni, follow the land surveyor in Lucknow process step by step.

Topographic survey, in one line?

A height-annotated map of the land's form and the things standing on it. The longer version is our note on what is a topographical survey.

Is July or August a bad time to book?

We can work then, though ponded rain conceals the real surface. Low-lying Lucknow plots are best left until the rains have passed, and we plan them that way where possible.
