Week of 26 Oct 2026
GPR Infra News 26 October 2026: Gurugram Main Leak
A deep water-main leak in Gurugram, a Haryana flyover trial, Bengaluru's Pink Line clearance and NHAI's UER-I DPR tender.
Quick AnswerThis GPR infra news 26 October 2026 issue leads with a drinking-water main eight feet down that leaked at Gurugram's AIT Chowk. NHAI opened the Kakoria flyover on NH-352W for trial, and Bengaluru's 7.5 km Pink Line section won safety clearance. NHAI also tendered a DPR for the remaining 50 km of UER-I. For past weeks, see a short guide on GPR & Infra News from Mezux Touch.
Which stories made GPR infra news for 26 October 2026?
Delhi NCR led the GPR infra news for 26 October 2026. A burst drinking-water main flooded a Gurugram junction, NHAI opened the Kakoria flyover for trial, and NHAI invited bids for a DPR on the rest of UER-I. Outside the capital region, Bengaluru's elevated Pink Line got its safety clearance, and in Jaipur an underground metro package was awarded.
Gurugram: a deep water main leaks at AIT Chowk
A major leak in an underground drinking-water pipeline flooded the main road at AIT Chowk, Sector 54–55, and traffic was diverted for emergency repairs. The pipe lies about eight feet below ground, so it had to be dug out before it could be fixed. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram scheduled the repair from 10 pm on Monday, 26 October.
Our view: a main at that depth under a busy junction is where accurate depth and alignment data pay off. Repair crews dig a smaller, safer pit when they know exactly where to open the road.

NHAI opens Kakoria flyover for trial
NHAI opened the Kakoria flyover on NH-352W for a trial run, part of the ₹18.10 billion Gurgaon–Pataudi–Rewari project. That project widens a 43.87 km stretch to four lanes in Haryana.

Bengaluru Pink Line: safety clearance for the elevated section
The metro safety commissioner cleared the 7.5 km elevated Pink Line section on 28 October, taking Bengaluru's network to 103.6 km. Its six stations are Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIMB, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere. No opening date was confirmed; ministers spoke of mid-November.

UER-I: NHAI seeks a consultant for the remaining stretches
NHAI published a tender on 30 October for a DPR on the remaining parts of Urban Extension Road-I, an indicative 50 km. That includes about 5 km linking UER-I to Gurugram's 75-metre road and the Upper Dwarka Expressway. The consultant will do feasibility studies, engineering investigations, design and cost estimates within seven months. Proposals are due on 19 November.
Our view: a DPR is the cheapest point to map buried services, before alignments are fixed. That is the purpose of an SUE survey: mark what is down there so the design can avoid it or plan the shifting.

Jaipur Metro Phase II: underground package awarded
Cemindia Projects won package 2C02 of Jaipur Metro Phase II, worth about ₹9,216 million, Indian Infrastructure reported on 26 October. Let by Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation, the package covers twin TBM tunnels, a cut-and-cover box and ramp, and two underground stations, Sanganer PS and Jaipur Airport, over about 36 months. The 41 km Prahladpur–Todi Mod north–south corridor has 36 stations, 34 elevated and 2 underground, and a total investment of ₹130.38 billion.
Why it matters: the cut-and-cover box, the ramp and both station footprints are dug from the surface. The services under those streets have to be found and diverted before the walls go in. Source: Indian Infrastructure, 26 Oct 2026
This week in one table
Three of the five items are in Delhi NCR, close to our Faridabad office.
| Item | Place | Stage | What to map |
|---|---|---|---|
| Water main leak, AIT Chowk | Gurugram | Emergency repair | Main depth and alignment |
| Kakoria flyover | NH-352W, Haryana | Trial run | Services crossing the widened road |
| Pink Line elevated section | Bengaluru | Safety clearance | Station access works |
| UER-I remaining stretches | Delhi–Gurugram | DPR tender | Full utility survey before design |
| Jaipur Metro Phase II, package 2C02 | Jaipur | Contract awarded | Services over the cut-and-cover box and stations |

How does this week connect to the others?
A leak, a trial run, a clearance and a tender show the same corridors at four different stages. If you want to know how often buried services get hit, read more on India Utility Damage Report 2026. The week before is in our GPR & Infra Weekly guide for 19 October; the week after is a short guide on GPR & Infra Weekly for 2 November.
Below-ground lessons from 26 October to 1 November
A leaking deep main, a trial flyover, a metro clearance and two contracts all point to one habit. Record what goes into the ground, and check it before the next dig. The Gurugram leak at AIT Chowk was on a deep main, where repairs are slow and disruptive. Knowing its line and depth in advance shortens any shutdown. Kakoria flyover and the Bengaluru elevated section are finished structures whose foundations now sit among relocated services. UER-I and Jaipur's underground package are at the start of their lives, when a full survey costs least and changes most. Across all four stages, the useful record is the same: positions, depths and quality levels, kept with the project.
For Delhi NCR readers of infrastructure news India publishes each week, the AIT Chowk leak is the closest to home. Deep mains sit below the reach of a quick locator sweep, so ground penetrating radar with a suitable antenna, backed by records, does the work there. A GPR survey of the junction lets repair crews locate and map underground utilities around the main before the excavator arrives. The same utility records, and the utility mapping behind them, then help the UER-I consultant. That DPR will shape the next stretch of infrastructure development across a district full of buried utilities.
What does a scan in Delhi NCR cost?
Standard GPR is ₹24 per metre and L-section ₹32 per metre, GST extra, with a ₹50,000 minimum in Delhi NCR (₹1,00,000 elsewhere). Long orders earn 25% off above 100 km, 40% above 500 km and 50% above 1,000 km. In Delhi NCR our surveyor can start the same day or within one working day, so you can request a site visit for your project without much wait.
Frequently asked questions
How deep was the leaking pipe in Gurugram?
About eight feet below ground, according to the UNI report, which is why excavation was needed before repair.
When are UER-I DPR proposals due?
On 19 November 2026, with technical bids opening on 20 November, per the tender details reported by Swarajya.
Where can I read about other big projects?
Read about Big Infrastructure Projects in India on our projects page.
What is cut-and-cover construction?
A method in which a trench is dug from the surface, the tunnel or station structure is built inside it, and the ground is then restored over the top.
