In October 2026, listed OFC cable prices in India began at approximately ₹5–9 per meter for 2 and 4 core unarmoured cable, ₹6–25 per meter for 6 core and ₹8–18 for most 12 core cable, rising to roughly ₹33–49 for 24 core armoured and ₹78–89 for 48 core. Brand, armouring and procurement volume influence the price most, while installation typically costs considerably more than the cable.
- Price per meter rises with fibre count, armour and brand; drum lengths cost less per meter than cut pieces.
- Armoured cable suits direct burial; unarmoured cable is blown into HDPE ducts.
- Survey, ducting, trenching or HDD, blowing and splicing usually cost more than the cable.

OFC cable price per meter in India (2026)
The ranges below summarise listings on Indian B2B marketplaces in October 2026, excluding GST. Actual quotations depend on manufacturer, quantity and specification, so treat them as budgetary estimates rather than purchase prices.
| Core count | Typical listed price per meter | Common use |
|---|---|---|
| 2 core / 4 core (unarmoured) | ₹5–9 | FTTH drop, short links |
| 6 core | ₹6–25 | Access links, campuses |
| 12 core | ₹8–18 (most listings) | Distribution, towers |
| 24 core (armoured) | ₹33–49 | Feeder and backbone |
| 48 core | ₹78–89 | Backbone, railway, NLD |
Several branded, short-length or patch-grade listings exceeded ₹100 per meter, which illustrates why the complete specification matters when comparing a 4 core OFC cable price or a 6 core quotation.
What changes the price of OFC cable?
- Fibre count. Additional fibres require more loose tubes and a larger cable construction.
- Armour. Corrugated steel tape or wire armour adds cost but protects direct-buried cable from rodents and crushing.
- Single mode or multimode. Single mode G.652.D is standard for telecom; multimode suits short links inside buildings.
- Brand and approvals. Operator- or RDSO-approved cable for railway work costs more than generic cable.
- Drum length. Full drums of 1–4 km are cheaper per meter than cut lengths.
Our OFC full form and cable types guide explains each construction in detail.
Why the cable is the cheap part of a fibre route
On an underground route, the cable usually represents a modest share of total expenditure. The remainder covers the route survey, right-of-way permission, HDPE duct, trenching or HDD crossings, cable blowing, splicing, testing and restoration. A cut existing cable on the way can cost more than the whole drum; see our guide to HDPE duct and OFC cable types.
Before laying, a GPR route survey shows the cables and pipes already in the verge, so the alignment can move while it is still cheap to do so. Our standard survey rate is ₹24 per meter, GST extra, with a 4 km minimum, on the GPR survey price list.
How to compare OFC cable quotes
- Match fibre count, fibre type (G.652.D), armour and outer diameter on every quote.
- Ask for the price per meter on full drums and the drum length.
- Check test reports and the attenuation figure per km.
- Confirm GST, freight and delivery time.
- Budget separately for laying, blowing and splicing.

Questions about OFC cable price
What is the 4 core OFC cable price per meter?
In October 2026, 4 core unarmoured OFC was listed at roughly ₹5–9 per meter on Indian B2B marketplaces, before GST. Armoured and branded cable costs more.
What is the 6 core OFC cable price in India?
Most 6 core listings were between about ₹6 and ₹25 per meter, depending on armour and brand, with some branded short lengths much higher.
Is armoured OFC cable worth the extra cost?
For direct burial or rodent-prone routes, yes. Inside HDPE ducts, unarmoured cable is usually enough and easier to blow.
